Anyone else feels like this sometimes? Like a cog in a machine that can’t stop working itself out? Throwback Thursday to this drawing I did in 2015, when I crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a cargo ship! The trip from Belgium to New York took 10 days and was a very interesting experience with lots of time to draw this expression about the desperation the human experience can cause us sometimes. Life inevitably has its ups and downs, so we just gotta learn to cruise the harder times with as much strengths and elegance as we can manage. Throwback Thursday to this drawing I did 4 years ago called “Sedated Slaveship”. It was done for a festival poster in North Dakota that didn’t end up happening. It was based on a old drawing I did when I was 19 years old (scroll to the next pic to see it). It shows how I felt at one point of over stimulation and the desire to purify (where I’m at these days). Anyways, I redrew it over a 10 day period, as I crossed the Atlantic Ocean, from Belgium to New Jersey, on a huge cargo boat. It was a purifying experience in itself, which you can see as an old Artventure video on YouTube. Then, a bit more recently, I hired a talented Balinese sculptor (called Ida Sudana) to reproduce the drawing on a little piece of moose antler. The results blew my mind!
