Today, on #earthday, NYBG held a screening and discussion of Sandy McLeod's, Seeds of Time. It was great to hear from both the movies director and Cary Fowler, whose dedication to work in agriculture spans over a lifetime. The image to the right shows the entrance to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Located about 810 miles from the North Pole, on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, the growing seed bank has the potential to hold 4.5 million seed samples. It is the result of Fowlers vision and a global effort to ensure "the conservation and availability of crop diversity for food security worldwide." #Seedsoftime #seedbank #seeddiversity #nybgherbarium (at The New York Botanical Garden)
