Words are difficult in times of awe. In times of love, abundance and joy. Nothing but smiles, hugs, song and dance over here! Maybe some tears of joy too! We are so overwhelmed, in the best way of course, at how the community came out to share the magical week of the #newmoonmycologysummit !!! Wow, y’all just WOW! We had about 300 attendees share the week with us! That’s unreal and we couldn’t of done it without the tremendous support and help from the hosts, the presenters, volunteers, core organizers and other helping hands and the four legged friends! We would never be able to do this Summit if #seedsofpeace didn’t come out to hold the kitchen down and serve us the best food ever! Support them and the people they also help serve snacks too over at @appalachiansagainstpipelines These ten photos do not give those five days justice but we will post more to share how amazing of a time we had. So much learning. So much healing. So much more clarity towards the direction we can be going in as a collective of people, wanting more justice, forests, life and love on this planet! We are many! This SATURDAY!! VIRGINIA MYCELIAL GATHERING BEGINS! Find us in Richmond, Virginia celebrating the Spring, our community and of course FUNGI! We are being hosted by the gracious Earth Folk Collective !! Many workshops and activities for the whole fam! PLUS we team with the rad kitchen collective #seedsofpeace to bring folks a delicious mycophagy dinner! It’s going to be a gorgeous day and our hearts will be warm & filled! Like our other benefit, this weekend is geared towards highlighting our extensive community in the Mid-Atlantic, bringing attention about the summer New Moon Mycology Summit and to raise funds for the Summit too!! It’s a special day, for today we celebrate the 30th birthday of Yonatan Belik! Belik was born to Australian parents and grew up in Raanana, Israel. While in the Israeli Defense Forces, he founded the first ever Australian Football League team in Jerusalem. He used the team to promote co-existence. He was even played football professionally! Deciding to peruse his passion for bringing people together, Belik went to Seeds of Peace: a leadership development organization committed to bringing together people in areas of conflict to promote dialogue. There he met Mike, and our dynamic duo came to be! Belik and Mike are working towards their second world record together. When finished, he is excited to return to Israel, and will attempt his third world record there. It takes a special person to engage with various communities in a constructive and positive way, and Belik has what it takes to make it big. Belik, we hope your birthday is as amazing as you are! Today is a special day for Wheeling For The World - it’s Mike’s 32nd birthday! Mike grew up in inner city South Philly, surrounded by violence and poverty. The high school he attended had 2/3 graduates end up in prison or deceased. Growing up in an area where the odds weren’t in his favor, Mike knew it was up to him to change his fate. Mike began to push himself physically and mentally to be better and prove that it doesn’t matter where you come from, what matters is what you do with your life. Through the organization Education Works, Mike became a mentor to kids in his neighborhood and inspired them to graduate high school and go on to be bigger and better than they ever thought possible. Eventually Mike found himself at Seeds of Peace, a leadership development program that brings youth and educators from areas of conflict to camp in Maine. There, Mike met Belik and the dynamic duo have been an unstoppable force since. This is Mike’s 3rd World Record, and 2nd with Belik. Mike is an inspiration to the team at Wheeling For The World, and even though his only birthday wish is to have vegan pizza and chocolate soy milk, we wanted to take the time to let our audience know how special he is to us and everyone he meets!
