Sun Araw and Laraaji — Professional Sunflow 2 LP
Laraaji’s collaboration with Brian Eno in 1979 launched his new age and ambient recordings into the international sphere. His musical radiance continues to shine brilliantly, illuminating contemporary sound by way of generational alliances—in particular, with the influential experimental act of Los Angeles, Sun Araw. Members Cameron Stallones and Alex Gray take on equally powerful parts in the trio’s cultivation of a transformative free sound experience.
Professional Sunflow operates openly between roles of performers, as the musicians shift freely between electronic and acoustic instruments. Together, they combine glissandi from electronic zither, chimes, and computer synthesis, all amidst crisp flares of sensation—a sonic acupuncture that rhythmically punctuates the highest audible frequencies.
High Sierra Trail
In an exercise in collective expedition planning, team building, backcountry skills development, and bonding, twelve Seeing Trails members thru-hiked the High Sierra Trail (HST) over seven days in late August 2016.
A water-born bacteria contracted near the trailhead before they even set off ended up making more than two-thirds of the team horribly sick. One member was so ill, his pack contents were spread out between the other expedition members so that he wouldn’t have to carry the weight. Despite this element of epicness, we were able to make it to our projected camp every night, and managed to make an ascent of Mount Stewart (12,220′), and other fun side trips. Naturally we summited Mount Whitney for sunrise on the final day.
Needless to say, we all deeply bonded over the experience. It was truly epic in both the best, and sometimes worst sense of the word.
Yialmelic Transmission
Diva Dompé will lead the Seeing Trails Hike Gang on an otherworldy hike through the alien landscape of Yialmel. We will use guided meditation and gong bath in order to activate the vessel of your consciousness to travel to this realm outside of the material plane on planet earth. This experience on Yialmel can help remove blockages in energy flow, with awareness of your limitlessness, and with solidifying your connection with the infinite love source.
