I think the problem with dealing with how bad of job Ironwood did is because we know the writers are bad. So its get real hard a certain point to figure out what mistakes are cause Ironwood is too arrogant and what is caused by the writers simply being out of their depth.
I mean its hard to imagine Ironwood is just so dumb that he didn't think to try a software updates on Atlas Robots. Buts its hard to parse whether he didn't try, Watts just had a backdoor or the change wasn't good enough to stop Watts. There is just so much details lacking you get in a position as a watcher to insert a whole lot of head canon. Much of it colored by how much you like a character.
I am still confused for instance on how Atlas only seemingly has a dozen huntsman and huntswoman really. At least the last time they were MIA there was an excuse even if its hard to imagine no one notices Lionheart leadership seemingly having mass causalities of your most relevant fighting force. Is a bad excuse better then just ignoring it? Ugh so much bad worldbuilding.
I am sorry what does Doomfist or Moira not using Symmetra name tell us about Sanjay? I mean I like your analysis but I do tend to think you have a tendency to underestimate the intelligence of those two in particular due to your bias towards Reaper and Sombra. Doomfist and Moira strike me as the type that like keeping information close to the vest unlike Sombra who always seems to have the need to show everyone she is the smartest person in the room. Them not using a real name proves little IMO.
Are you sure itâs not you who has it backwards?
It literally states this on Symmetraâs Hero Profile:
[Though she was one of Utopaea's top architechs, the Vishkar Corporation saw far greater potential in Satya's abilities. Giving her the moniker "Symmetra," Vishkar sent her on clandestine missions around the world to uphold its corporate interests and expand its influence into other countries.]Â Â
âSatya Vaswaniâ is what the world knows her as. Her âreal identityâ isnât some huge secret. People know who she is on name and her reputation alone.
Sheâs literally on the covers of magazines.
âSymmetraâ is an internal codename in Vishkar. Thatâs the point. Doomfist and Moira arenât calling her by the name that the entire world knows.
They are calling her by a name only another Vishkar employee - or more specifically, a Vishkar employee who knows she is committing corporate sabotage - knows.
Thatâs the part thatâs informative.
In fact, it is Sombra who is playing her cards close to her chest by acting like she does not know Satya is Symmetra (and vice-versa). If anything, Sombra is trying to distance herself from Talon here.
And now for the other part.
You seem to have completely misinterpreted my answer from the other day. Just because Doomfist, Moira, and Widowmaker arenât able to convince Symmetra and Hanzo to join Talon does not make them bad at persuasion - it literally just means they arenât able to convince Symmetra and Hanzo to join Talon. Theyâve misread their characters and core personalities. It happens. Doomfist in particular appears to have been informed by Sanjay that Satya could be amenable to Talonâs ideologies, but clearly, she is not. This speaks bigger volumes about Sanjay than it does about Akande.
I do not underestimate Akande and Moiraâs intelligences and honestly, Iâm a little frustrated that you seem to think I do. Iâve already said that I think that even if Reaperâs plan works, Akande will still come out the victor. Iâve also said that I think Moira knows significantly more about Reaper, Sombra, and/or Soldier: 76 than she lets on.
In fact, I find that the constant efforts to make Moira into some âethically wrong but inherently âgoodââ character to be a total misreading and misinterpretation of her character. She is one of the smartest characters in the story, and when you have world-class tacticians like Gabriel Reyes and Akande Ogundimu, super intelligent physicists like Winston, and literal medical genius Angela Ziegler in the line-up, then thatâs a pretty damn high compliment to Moiraâs abilities.
Moira and Akande both know what they want, and theyâre not afraid to make truly incredible and ingenious plans to achieve it. Akandeâs war coming to fruition is pretty much the end-game of Arc 1 of Overwatch, to the point where Sombra and/or Reaperâs goals likely wonât âreallyâ matter at all.
Moira and Akande âmisreadingâ Satyaâs personality isnât a flaw on them, but a flaw on Sanjay, who is pretty obviously the one telling them about her.
I donât expect every follower to keep up with my posts, but it wouldnât hurt you to check my archive before you send an ask next time.
The book is impressive how was Ssael a God Killer and yet still brought low? How does his religion defend that. Seems to me if a moral rose up to the level he could slay gods, he should not be killable like Ssael was.
Well, killing the gods wasnât a matter of physical might, Duane would tell you, but of inextinguishable Will, Courage, and Cooperation. Ssael was an old man when he was betrayed by his grandson and killed by Gefendur paladins for crimes of heresy, but he had at that point already done all he could do in the flesh. His next battle was beyond the khert, and he had to die to get there.
The great appeal of Ssael among his followers was his leadership. Ssael wasnât a tyrant or a powermonger but rather a man who wanted everyone around him to be the best person they could be, and he helped them by sharing everything he had, from his home to his vast pymaric discoveries. He wanted humanity to be better. And he depended on humanity to help him in turn.Â
When he reached the lair of the gods - it is told - he didnât storm in with his swordarm swinging. Rather he moved silently among the despairing dead who ringed the outside of the Twinsâ domain, boosting their spirits, convincing them to join him in an uprising. Ssael didnât defeat the gods single-handed but instead as the general of an army. And even now, enthroned, he wants the rest of humanity to join him.
Plenty of Gefendur share your attitude and think the whole Ssael thing is stupid, that he was just some old heretic who was killed and his followers couldnât accept it so they made up these dumb stories of him killing the gods like some kind of edgelord.
Who can say whoâs right, you know?
Well I mean he actually cares about another family getting killed because and I quote "We are suppose to be a family.." I cant imagine him ever doing that in the comics As for nice, i guess he wasn't especially mean compared to Stein's Father in comics but you never got the feel he ever cared about spending much time with Alex. But I am most curious about Karoline's Grandfather cause that changes the plot massively. I am curious how this Pride got selected.
Yeah, it seemed to be the case of him not being interested in his sonâs feelings or spending time with him (although behind the scenes, we do se that he definitely loved/cared about his sonâs life, in his on way).Â
And same! Catherine Wilder comments on how the âYorkes ever got accepted into Pride, Iâll never knowâ, and Leslie responds with saying âthey were all there for a reasonâ. Unfortunately, we donât know the reason, and we donât know who exactly accepted the Yorkes, or any of the family in. Also, the story behind Frank Dean is also very suspect.Â
@seguun
Weâve already bought our tickets. Iâm going with my family and itâs kind of an annual thing at this point, so Iâm seeing it opening weekend.Â
Iâll let you guys know what bullshit happens or if there are good surprises. Even though Iâm sure you guys can find spoilers very quickly.
I think the plot that KK is drunk on power and only cares about brunette British white women (self inserts) when it comes to representation is irrefutable at this point. I pull open the Battlefront II trailer and what do I see a new character who is a white brunette with a British Accent. She also whitewashed the ATLA movie and cast another white brunette girl. If I had the time it might be interesting to check every movie she has produced and see if the trend holds.
I wouldnât call her drunk on power because her power in itself is legitimate, but I do agree from the available information that she has some serious unexamined biases. If the rumors are true two different directors had to go against her to cast nonwhite actors, which is worrying.
Iâd love to see that research, though sadly I donât know if it would even be distinguishable from the general trends in the industry.
Honestly, I am at the point where I want RWBY to just end and put me out of the misery and maybe some day in a decade or two it can get rebooted by some competent team and recapture the magic. That is probably a pipe dream will probably get a crappy next gen series that I will hate like Boruto.
In my experience, the only franchises that have pulled off the âNext Genâ concept well are Jojoâs Bizarre Adventure and Yu-Gi-Oh.
And I have my hypothetical reboot series that I kinda want to get going again. Talk about concepts that were kinda dropped in favor of some of the more bland parts of the series.
