Seeing all of your complaints regarding Fate series, makes me want to ask this. What do you (personally) think about Fate Extra CCC (aside from all fanservices)? Like the story and the writing... (if you haven't play CCC you can ignore my question)
Sorry for the slow reply, was out all weekend. I have not played Extra - I’m def the type that leans more towards Apocrypha. I honestly don’t know that much about the story, either.
But my problem with Nasu is - I like his general plot ideas (well, I like UBW…that’s the main reason why I’m into Fate), and a good deal of what he does with characters (except for the hideous fanservice...meh) - but there are two things that just drive me insane. One is his prose. It’s terrible, shitty prose. When I first played FSN I used an English fanpatch, so I chalked up the “eh” writing to how it was, well, a fanpatch (no offense to the translators and proofers - that’s just what I’m used to with these things). ……..But no, the actual prose is just…he’s a writer who just loves the sound of his own voice, and resorts to literary theatrics to try to convey things in a way that - maybe I’d be impressed if I was a middle schooler, but I’m not. It’s just a sledgehammer of purple-prosed dramatique, like how Michael Bay can’t make a movie without explosions. If everyone talked the way his characters did 24/7, I’d shoot myself. The Japanese speakers I know who also enjoy Fate nevertheless feel the same as I do about the prose. (Whereas Dies Irae, my favorite chuuni VN, definitely does not make me feel this way.)
The second thing is that he loves the rape as defining backstory trope. All of his works (Fate, KnK, Tsukihime, etc) have a female character who gets sexually assaulted in ridiculously disgusting and abhorrent ways, and then it sets them off as a tykebomb of sorts etc. It’s just…why do you need to do that? Why do you need to do that? Why did you need to do that so many times? Do you have no idea how to have a female character develop and struggle through crisis if you’re not allowed to use rape? Gee, what other trials could females go through besides neverending and gratuitous sexual assault?????
Then I see various people in fandoms being all towards those characters, “ha ha her pussy must be so fucking loose ew you wouldn’t want to screw her” and it’s just…I don’t need this shit, man. Have some fucking shame.
I'm sorry if my question sounds stupid but can you please explain the difference between arousal (being aroused to) and attraction (being attracted to)?
arousal is a natural physical sensation that happens whether there is attraction or not, it’s basically the body just going ‘hey we could breed right now’
attraction is when the arousal is directed at a person and the body goes ‘hey we should breed with them’

will you translate the rest JoJo anthology songs??
I will, yeah. I’m almost done with Crazy my Beat, and I need to get my hands on the 3rd CD’s songs...
The previous ones are here btw.
I'm screaming when I saw your Reiji manifesto. I've read your Ayato manifesto before. Would you like to make more DL manifesto? Though I remember someone did Shu manifesto.
Thank you for reading them! I would like to do more in the future if I have time for it. :C I really want to eventually do ones for Laito, Kou, and Shin. I’m pretty busy with writing other things, though, so it might be some time before I am able to, unfortunately.
