You know those Vocaloid songs you casually throw on in the background until you actually read the lyrics and suddenly can’t look any bilingual person in the eye for 48 hours? Yeah. This is that collection.
1. 『え？あぁ、そう。 (Eh? Ah, Sou.)』 – Chouchou-P We’re starting strong with the “we absolutely know this is wrong but we’re doing it anyway” anthem. It’s that very specific emotional space where denial, desire, and bad decisions are holding hands in a dimly lit hallway. On first listen: vibey. On lyric read: oh. Oh no. Just… maybe don’t Google the translation if you weren't ready for the F-bomb that comes up at some point.
2. 『Romeo and Cinderella』 – doriko This one lures you in with “tragic romance” vibes and pretty melodies, then quietly reminds you that fairy tale love stories in Vocaloid world are rarely just fairy tales. Yes, there are suggestive undertones in a couple lines, but underneath it is actually more about youthful longing, rebellion, and the pressure of expectations that come with growing up. Still feels like it should come with a warning label though.
3. 『威風堂々 (Ifuudoudou)』 – Umetora Let’s not pretend we don’t all know why this one is infamous. The intro alone is already… a choice. But beyond the very loud aesthetic, the core message is basically about ignoring social judgment and giving into desire without shame. It’s one of those songs where the thesis statement is “stop caring what people think,” and it really commits to that idea in every possible direction.
4. 『SPICE!』 – Kagamine Len This one is deceptively emotional. On the surface it’s all intensity and late-night affairs, but underneath it’s a messy blend of obsession, attachment, and not wanting to lose someone even while everything is falling apart. It’s less “romance” and more “I don’t know how to function without you in my life,” which is arguably worse. Healthy? No. Catchy? Unfortunately, yes.
5. 『Happy Fruit』 – Hatsune Miku Do not be fooled by the cheerful name. This is one of those “Miku is being way too direct with metaphors again” situations. Fruit symbolism? Everywhere. Subtlety? Missing in action. There’s a point where you just have to accept that she said what she said and move on with your life. Preferably in silence.
6. 『SOAP LAGOON』 – MASA Works Design And now we arrive at the final boss of “why does this exist but also why is it catchy.” It’s bleak, it’s provocative, it’s very MASA-coded in that unsettling way where everything sounds like it shouldn’t be happening but absolutely is. Thematically it leans into sex work, transactional relationships, and moral decay, wrapped in a beat that somehow makes you vibe like you're at the club before you realize what you’re listening to. 7. 『Gigantic O.T.N』 – Reol WHY THE HECK IS LEN SINGING ABOUT HIS DICK AND HOW IT ATTRACTS BOTH GENDERS- And that's basically the whole song in a nutshell, for those who want to know but don't want the weird details. The shock on my face when I discovered that 'O.T.N' was an acronym for 'ochin (penis)' was REALLY something.
