Hey Tumblr! I recently finished school and passed the four-year mark of making videos on YouTube, and I’d been racking my brain for weeks trying to think of the best way to celebrate these events.
Unfortunately, what happened was that several weeks went by as I let my ideas become brain crack. I built them up to be so big and ambitious that I convinced myself that I needed to have the best equipment to carry them out; otherwise they weren’t worth executing.
This is a dangerous cycle to be in, and unfortunately it’s all too familiar. I eventually shot this on a Canon Vixia using only the lights in my basement office, and in a way it was more freeing. I have to keep reminding myself that you don’t need the best equipment to produce the best story: story trumps equipment any day.
So here’s my story. Thank you for joining me over the last four years. I hope you’ll stick around for the next chapter.
