Sharing the link to my fundraiser for my photography exhibition, you may be wondering why I need this, so here's a bit of background.

I'm not a well known photographer, that probably doesn't come as a surprise to you, but it's true. I managed to get a commission only exhibition proposal accepted, but then the gallery closed down. See, commission only relies on work to sell, and not many people are investing in photography collections, so many galleries are now charging for the space. That's fine if you're well known or have a lot of spare funds, neither apply to me, so the only way I could get funding is fundraising or hoping I get a grant (so far no luck). So, I'm trying to raise the money myself, I'm thinking of fundraisers I can do, but so far no luck, however you might be able to help, please donate or share (or both if you can) to help me reach my goal.

Adani is now going it alone and "self-funding" the Carmichael mine after failing to secure loans from banks or government wealth funds. Although the mine has been scaled down to an initial 10 million tonnes a year output, rather than the mega-mine of 60 million tonnes a year it has approval for, the price tag for building it and an accompanying railway will still be a multi-billion-dollar sum. Even for a man as rich as family patriarch Gautam Adani, it is no small ask. But in the tangled web that is the Adani Group, there are ways. Adani's ports business is the most profitable part of the empire, headed by the Bombay stock exchange-listed company Adani Ports SEZ. It is currently raising more than $1 billion in debt on global markets. Critics are suspicious that Adani may channel the money through its opaque corporate structure and use the money to fund the Queensland coal mine that no bank was willing to finance.

In fact, study after study has found that self-funders like Rauner have a really hard time winning — even if they spend truly massive sums (which, according to the Supreme Court, they have the right to do). The failure of self-funders was particularly glaring in 2010, the year the infamous Citizens United decision. Out of the eight Senate and House candidates who spent the most of their own money on their campaigns in 2010, just one ended up winning. The losers — most of whom were unsuccessful Republicans in a year their party swept a majority of congressional races — included Linda McMahon, who spent $46 million running for Senate in Connecticut, and Carly Fiorina, who spent $5.5 million running for Senate in California. Most impressive of all was Meg Whitman's losing campaign for governor of California — she spent around $144 million of her own money and lost by 13 percentage points. Their losses are nothing new. Political scientist Adam Brown found that self-funders in gubernatorial races had poor showings in a 2009 research presentation titled "What Money Can't Buy." And political scientist Jennifer Steen reviewed congressional self-funders in a 2006 book on self-financing and found that, amazingly enough, "a candidate's chance of winning a primary or general election tends to decrease as the amount of personal funds invested in their campaigns increases."

Creative Ways for Small Businesses to Obtain Funding

To get an idea off the ground, entrepreneurs require startup funding. When many people think of funding, the two avenues that usually come to mind are angel investors and bank loans. While courting investors or applying for a bank loan are excellent methods for securing funding, several other options exist. One of the most innovative ways of securing startup money, crowdfunding, has emerged only recently. Websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo allow individuals to campaign for the projects that they wish to launch, from businesses to films. Generally, users of these sites offer a small return, such as an initial product, in return for funding. Federal grants also exist for some types of companies. Most government grants fund the research and development efforts of companies in the science and medical fields. While competition for these grants is fierce, they can really help establish a company. Other grant-giving entities, such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, provide grants to companies working in their areas of interest. While self-funding may seem impossible, the list of companies that began in a garage with an extremely small budget is impressive: Microsoft, Apple, Google, Mattel, and Amazon, among others. In addition, Hewlett-Packard started with a personal investment of $538.

Yesterday I went to get cash out and I had minus money (in an overdraft I don't actually have so getting charged by the bank). 

I had been paid the day before. 

Fuck - self-funding is bullshit.

Then today i got an email saying my first ever grant money will be in my account tomorrow. 

I nearly cried.
