You don't have a schedule, you don't have a job, you don't have obligations, but you create a more constraining situation than if you had a job and a boss.

Self-imposed Book-Buying-Ban Accountability Thread
Alright, people. Lately… I’ve kind of started to buy new books as a coping mechanism, I feel? And while I don’t buy outside of my budget and there is nothing wrong with buying books as long as they bring you happiness… for me lately it felt more about the quick rush of joy I got from buying one than about the lasting, more wholesome joy of owning one and actually being excited to read it.
And since at this point I have accumulated several incredible books that I really want to get to… I’ve decided to put myself on a book-buying ban for the rest of the month, so at least until May 1 (if not beyond).
It will be hard. I will post updates on here. And if I fail, slap me please.
No, but seriously. You have my written consent to publicly shame me if I don’t manage to go until the rest of the month without buying a new book.
This excludes gifts for others and books I need for my course, but those are the only exceptions! Getting new books from the library is alright (as they don’t cost me anything).
The ban starts… now!
Which of these books should I buy?
So three books I’d really like to read but don’t own yet are:
- Radio Silence (Alice Oseman) - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Michelle Rod) - Don’t Look Back (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
Any opinions on which one of these I should or shouldn’t buy? :)
True Clown Hours
finished ill-made knight last night and was genuinely in tears which was certainly overkill and a result of finals season
but OHHHH my god it’s crazy how much more personal and more nuanced Lacelot’s story is when compared to the other Once&Future King entries shit will absolutely wreck you
Art Goal for 2017 - Art Journal Flip Through Video
I’ve decided to make this goal for myself, and I’m going to make it public so there will be some additional heft and consequence: I want to make an art journal flip through video (like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJzYRwfE6GA) for my art journal by the end of the year. There are approximately 21 unfinished pages in my journal, so that gives me about a page per week and then a few weeks to make the video.
People can feel limited when challenged, which slows them down or keeps them from trying. It can be a real problem, but their fear might actually be in their imagination. Sometimes the only thing that's holding you back is yourself. Survival rules can hinder us- sometimes you have to break them.
