Kyanite!! this is my kid who i put in the blender and make blue smoothie or something idk. guh you can read about them here! This is technically their design for when the fic is complete, but eh, who cares. i think about them a lot theyre like a sopping wet cat.

Details!:

Flight helmet was requested to be as similar as a fit they could get to their spacesuit helmet (unfortunately it is Not Normal to walk around in a spacesuit, even when thats the most Normal thing to you and is the only sense of familiarity when the world is suddenly moving again)

Embroidered both their scarf and vest! The vest has symbols from both the nomai and owlk ::)

Scars are quantum! every loop manifests at somepoint as scars, depending on how it ended. Nothing that makes them lose limbs tho, luckily!

Ears are droopy, not from age, but because they pull on them as a stress response ::(

they NEVER buckle the helmet strap for some reason. it pisses a lot of people off.

HELLO!!!! HII!! WAVES!! um outer wilds creature biology because i like thinking about this and its cool and i like biology. So. Ghost matter, right? big kaboom, land animals all got wiped out waow So what do the hearthians use in replacement for a lot of the stuff we humans predominantly source from land mammals? I mean theres always the option for what would be their equivalent of whales, but from what we see on Timber Hearth, they likely dont have oceans to support marine creatures like that. For things like fur, hearthians can use plant fibers; cotton and whatnot, but i had the funny thought that there are marine non-mammals with "fur" hence, giant yeti crabs. Furs from living creatures are rarely used and often looked down upon from the stance of a furless creature, but fur is very much better at insulating, especially in wetter environments, where things like cotton retain WAYY too much water to be safe. A lot of the spacesuits are woven with crabfur (Setae) on the inside for heat retention and water protection, and there are a few hearthians who care for the giant crabs on the outskirts of the village! Galena especially is quite fond of the furry creatures,,,

...how does one draw crabs um yeah!! i have a lot of thoughts on the speciesbio of Timber Hearth, but giant yeti crabs are what i have most fleshed out lol

it was a very interesting addition to their ship logs in the last chapter and I was wondering if you’ve got anything you’d like to say about it ::>

For them, having at least some sort of reminder of home was one thing they absolutely needed when visiting the Eye. They knew that there was a big possibility that the loop where they went to the Eye was permanent and that if they took too long, everyone would die. They did it partially for comfort, partially to preserve the memory of everyone in case it all goes to shit.

They just went around, documenting their home and friends and family, trying their best to remember it.

From an ooc standpoint, it's actually based off of something I did as a child. I used to live in a really big farmhouse, and moved away when I was still pretty young. I have a recording of little me just wandering around the house, pointing out things I would miss so I could mentally bring it with me to the new house.

When writing that chapter, I was unsure what I was going to put in the logs, cause the base game ship logs aren't actually all that direct about saying "Hey I'm in a timeloop!" And so I knew I wanted to include some more personally written things. Halfway through writing I was like "wait. Yknow what would be cool and also convince everyone they weren't exactly insane??" (Luckily the hearthians don't have AI or photoshop yet) and boom, video logs were born!
