Hc + aspirations

okay, so this one is tricky because i know eventually he decides to be a teacher, but i don’t think it’s anything he actively thinks about until he’s in college. like, he knows he loves kids and he loves helping students when tutoring math, but he’s not like “oh, i really wanna teach!” mike isn’t a person who really focuses on the future, so what he wants to be is just a big ole shrug.

like, he doesn’t even desire leaving hawkins. it’s all he’s ever known, and he’s pretty content with it. so, he’s really just not the ambitious type at all. i imagine at first he majors in math because he loves it and also he’s like ‘well i can be like... an accountant... or something’ but after a couple of semesters he realizes that career sounds boring and then like a lightbulb he’s like .... oh! i could just teach math!

it helps, too, to think he could be a really dope teacher like mr clarke, cuz he just really loves that guy. that’s also why he chooses middle school as the age range he wants to teach math to!!

ok i don’t know where else to go with this cuz i feel like this is a WHOLE ASS MESS + i’m much more focused on mike as a fourteen yr old boy, but this is certainly a headcanon that’s close to my heart.
