The third Sembo Block Metal Cardbot Gold Edition figure I've built is Black Hook, who certainly looks really cool but sadly isn't as fun to play around with due to his pretty limited arm and neck articulation. Oh well.
I built the MetalGreymon Sembo Block kit over the weekend and this thing is so cool!
It's super poseable and detailed for a buildable figure.
So apparently there’s a cottage industry of bootleg Lego company making knockoff licensed store sets. (1, 2)
SEMBO BLOCK STREET VIEW SERIES
cardbot blokees-not-blokees! Blue is so tiny! that figure has more details than blokees. Has two paires of hands palms and fists
very nice figure, i recommend
that Blue is higher than Mega Trucker which is sembo block 10cm
Decided to make a start on building these Sembo Metal Cardbot figures, starting with Blue Cop! As this is my first time taking a look at something from Sembo, I'm going to go into a little more detail
First, the common parts all of these figures share
• The first bag contains two sprues, a display base (with Lego sized studs…!) and a nice foil card
• The manual has you build a simple inner frame first, which has both similarities and differences to that of Galaxy Version Blokees Transformers
Next, the character specific parts
• Again, some of these parts are very similar to what you'd find in Galaxy Version Blokees Transformers
• Unlike Blokees, the printed details are completely flat, more like what you'd see on Lego pieces
• The fitting between some of these parts is VERY tight
Finally, Blue Cop himself
• He looks great!
• The plastic used is somewhat lighter and more grainy to the touch than that of Blokees
• His joints are all perfectly tight
• His articulation is a mixed bag, having an ab crunch and super mobile shoulders, but limited bicep and thigh swivels
Overall I am reasonably impressed and intrigued by Sembo's style of blind box buildable figures, as while they're clearly aping off of Blokees they're not just copying their homework 1-to-1. However, if Blue Cop is anything to go by, there is room for improvement if they truly want to compete.
