It was a high way up. It seemed impossible in her weak and hungry state.
But if she stayed down here, it was only going to get worse. She could be waiting forever before a nut might fall to the ground. And up there, she'd certainly find an abundance of delicious food—if only she could reach it.
The moss at the bottom of the bark was easy enough to grip, but higher up, the trunk was smooth, making the climb much harder.
But it was worth it. She was worth those nuts. She could do this, she could. And up she went.
