he  didn’t  think  he’d  be  sitting  here  once  more  with  the  other  like  this  —  taking  the  time  to  exchange  vocal  cords  like  they  had  so  many  years  ago;  it  almost  seemed  like  a  SIN,  and  it  made  him  want  to  bombard  the  other  with  several  questions,  but  he  wasn’t  sure  how  long  he  would  have  before  haku  had  to  leave  again  .  .  .  

  .  .  .  if  he  were  to  leave.

❛  kinda  sounds  like  you’re  describing  yourself,  ya  know.  ❜  his  signature  smile  bright  like  the  afternoon  sun.  ❛  and  i  don’t  mean  that  in  an  insulting  way.  heh,  i  remember  when  i  first  met  you  .  .  .  well,  besides  the  forest  meeting,  umm  .  .  .  when  you  kicked  our  asses,  oh  man,  i  honestly  thought  we  were  all  done  for  !!  you  were  so  STRONG,  haku,  and  i’m  sure  you  still  are.  but  there  was  always  somethin’  about  you  that  was,  like  how  you  said  it,  wonderful  in  a  terrifying  way  if  that  makes  sense  ??  ❜

seeing  haku  once  more  was  scary  and  wonderful  and  monstrous  too,  and  for  all  naruto  knew,  the  other  could  be  talking  about  something  else  entirely,  but  his  astonished  state  at  the  moment  made  his  mind  wander  and  mouth  blabber.

Panting, Kakashi lifts his head to survey the scatter of bodies, each sliced to a near unrecognizable state. For each wound Kakashi bore, his enemies harbored a thousand of the same intensity. Haku had finished the battle with a show of utter ruthlessness, and his words sparked a defensive posture from the copy-nin.

"Are we settling this today then?"

He still had fight left him in, and enough chakra available to continue the battle despite the discomforts of various small injuries. Blood loss may be his biggest enemy as he moved, but he readied himself regardless.

"You don't look alright." Kiba points out, rather obviously. He's wary - he knows better than to trust in appearances, injured or not - but Akamaru doesn't seem to be particularly on edge, and he will always trust in his companion's instincts.

The kid - they seem to be of an age with him, he guesses, though it's not easy to tell - has a peculiar maturity to them, something he's only ever seen in those who have lived a hard life and seen too much for their limited years. Given the way they're dealing with their current situation, this is definitely not someone inexperienced. He needs to be careful.

But he can't just walk away, not when he can do something to help. "Here, let me help..." He takes a few steps closer, carefully, trying to both respect the boundaries of a stranger and maintain a healthy dose of wariness regarding an unknown person. "Two hands are better than one, after all. And I've got some supplies..."

He reaches into the pouch at his waist, keeping his movements slow and easy to follow or predict, just in case this injured teen misunderstands and reacts accordingly. He pulls out one of the medical kits Hinata prepared for him prior to his leaving Konoha, and tosses it down between them. "What happened to you, anyway?"

Kakashi reaches up to pull the ANBU mask away, revealing features that are creased with endless fatigue. They had parted on terms of respect with Kakashi breathing not a word of their whereabouts to his superiors upon returning home.

Such a twisted mishap of a mission that had been, but the outcome could have been much worse off.

Now however, he was the one in need of assistance despite his reluctance to drag anyone into the depths of the storm he had kicked up. Still, he supposed it was better this way, to be among those that understood the burdens of becoming an outcast.

"I need a safehouse. Just for the night."

"S'cuse me? Do you know where we are?" Because he didn't have any idea where they were. Was he still in the village? He wasn't sure. Nothing looked familiar. If he was outside of the village, he didn't know where then. Or how. He'd never left before.

"Jiaoqiu!"

It was a frustrated hiss of his voice that he said his name in. The stupidity of the foxian to step in between him and his foe, even when Moze was knocked down for the moment. Jiaoqiu's interference did buy him enough time to gather his bearings, sinking into the shadows only to pop up from behind the enemy and take them out.

Wiping his knife clean on his pantleg, he stepped over the body to look the man over.

"Are you hurt?"

He doesn't protest when Jiaoqiu decides to brush his hair, but he also doesn't sit there for very long. His hair was much shorter than the foxians and he never bothered to put much time into maintaining it. It was fine as it was and his hood usually covered it anyways so despite the others insistence that personal grooming regarding his hair was important, he found it unnecessary.

"My hair is fine--" He reached up to stop Jiaoqiu with a hand on his wrist before taking the brush from him. "Sit. I'll do yours."
