I saw the post on tumblr talking about Senya that maybe he is gay, you know the anime doesn't talk much about Senya but I think that his color red and the other genie's color being blue must have some meaning, are they one? couple but they fought?

I mean....red and blue is a very common trope for characters that end up getting shipped together. Usually bc there's at least massive subtext around them. But yeah, red and blue characters are often paired up in some way in narrative, and Senya and Ichiya definitely have some kind of connection & relationship.

They're the only two genies in the show (that we've seen), they're shown fighting/sparring in the intro to what Honki people are, they were housed in the shrine side by side in the first episode. They're literally a pair.

Oh and also Senya means 1000 Nights and Ichiya means One Night (I think? idr if i got them mixed up). And the story is based on 1001 Nights (sort of). So...

There are many narrative and visual storytelling factors that pair them up. What their actual history is we don't know yet.

I think it would be the biggest plotwist if: matakara ended up with mahoro at the end. Matakara didn't forgive Arajin senya and ichiya were a couple but they had a disagreement and broke up.

i think i'd handle matakara x mahoro if it were written right and mahoro was given a more active role in the story than she currently has. so far, her goals have completely centered the men in her life. if she's actually going to get with matakara, i want her to develop some drive outside her brother, arajin, or matakara y'know. my fear is that if they get together it'd flatten her and matakara's arcs completely.

matakara amicably deciding to part ways with arajin would be an interesting and fairly apt conclusion to the themes and issues presented in the show thus far. it'd be a bit of a bummer, but if they played it right it could be pretty sweet. personally, i'd like to see a full reconciliation with them deciding to be friends again as equals, but we'll see.

i think senya and ichiya are about as explicitly 'exes' as they can be without the show outright showing them making out when they were humans lmao (if they were confirmed to be together i'd die on the spot but I'm jaded enough to know it's not gonna happen).

i'd be able appreciate matakara and ara deciding to go different ways, but i neeeeeeeed these two to make up in some fashion by the end. ep 9 has opened my third eye to all the senichi possibilities. i neeeeed the breakup drama and i need them fighting about the past and i need senya begging ichiya to talk to him and i need ichiya forgiving senya for whatever the fuck he did and I need them to awkwardly reconnect and i need them to smash their faces together like barbie dolls.

truly criminal they don't have any fanfic on ao3 yet 😔 i've never even finished a fic before but i'm tempted to write one just so the tag exists.
