"Head-hopping" Is Not Multiple POV
“Head-hopping” Is Not Multiple POV
I just saw someone on Twitter ask a question about “head-hopping,” but it became clear they were actually asking about third-person shifting POV. What’s the difference? “Head-hopping” happens when the writer loses track of who knows what in the story. Not every character knows everything that’s happening. Have any of you seen the Netflix show Sense-8?
❖ Sense8 (Tv Series) - ❖ - Lito & Wolfgang’s Badass Moments ❖
Out of all the amazing scenes in Sense8, the moment that made me fall in love with the series was when the eight sung “what’s up” by 4-non blondes. It was incredibly cheesy but too fucking heartwarming for me to feel anything but love for those characters and their challenges. I was feeling the way they were feeling each other, you know? At this point, their bond, which was strange and uncomfortable, became normal and even beautiful. Someone made a post implying that their connection was a glorified version of multi-personality disorder, which is just fucking absurd. The eight drew out strength, acceptance and courage from each other, all the while staying true to their own personalities, choices and beings. Their connection is not a disease, it’s a gift -one which makes them stronger. The eight inevitably come to rely heavily on this gift and, more often than not, go into situations knowing that they’ll have backup. I suppose this posts makes it sound like I found nothing wrong with the series, which is even more absurd than the comparison to MPD, but i don’t care. Right now I’m too high off the satisfaction of finishing a good show. I don’t know what the writer’s intentions for the show’s message was, but to me it said : “You are not alone”, and I cannot begin to express how much I fucking needed to hear that.
