i have a tabby cat that goes downstairs quite often to "cry" as loud as he can into the air. he does this for several minutes, and then he's fine, he comes back upstairs and acts like a normal cat. this has perplexed me for a while, as extensive internet research for 'why does my cat go into another room and cry' is as bad as visiting WebMD.com for say, foot pain, and being told you have anything from a simple corn to foot cancer.

so he is not hungry, he's not sick, or aging and having vision problems. he's not looking for attention, although sometimes his little sister cat rebuffs his advances to 'bite and play' and he will go cry about that. sometimes he doesn't think his treats are ample enough so he will cry about that. he doesn't have any real reason to cry, though, but he is a sensitive fellow, loves to be cuddled on his own terms, quite skittish, and hides when company comes. so all in all, i have concluded and come to accept my cat son is just a reincarnated 14-year-old from the early 2000s who just wants to go to Hot Topic for black jelly bracelets, eyeliner and a Ramones patch, and has no money or ride to get to the mall, and this is why he cries.
