20 years ago, in a future not too different from our present, a low-level guerilla terrorist organization suddenly rebranded itself as the Biohazard Army Zairadex, attacking regions around the country with enhanced and mutated monsters known as Phosphors. With the nation in disarray and unequipped to deal with the sudden threat, all seemed lost- until an alien envoy suddenly landed from space, bringing with them a message of peace. They identified themselves as the Neovians, a race of faraway beings with technology and civilization far beyond that of Earth. They explained that the Phosphors were being created using devices salvaged from a Neovian ship that had crash-landed on Earth, and expressed their apologies. Although the Neovians were forbidden by their laws to directly involve themselves in an Earthling conflict, they wished to even the odds. They gave five pieces of uncut Catalyte Ember to the group of humans that had witnessed their arrival, a rare alien mineral that could unlock latent potential in organic lifeforms with honest hearts.
While initially hesitant, the five humans all agreed that the task given to them was not one to be taken lightly. With the Catalyte Embers fused to their hearts, each one was given the ability to tap the Resa Bands on their wrists together to transform into Shinpaku Sentai Evoranger. For several years, the Evorangers fought against Zairadex, finally taking them down in a decisive battle. However, not soon after the organization's fall, EvoBlack was suddenly discovered dead in his laboratory, the Catalyte embedded in his heart strewn on the floor amidst a pool of his blood.
Both enraged and saddened by the sudden loss of their friend, the rest of the Evorangers pushed for answers, the death of one of the country's most well-known heroes shortly after the group had publicly revealed their identities becoming a federal case. However, their pushes for answers were rebuffed by government officials, claiming confidentiality while simultaneously laying claim to EvoBlack's Catalyte. Frustrated with their apparent uselessness and feeling that their days of heroism were behind them, EvoPink, EvoYellow, and EvoBlue quit the now-crumbling team, leaving their Catalytes in the hands of EvoRed. EvoBlue and EvoYellow decided to settle down and start a family and EvoPink chose to travel overseas. Meanwhile, EvoRed was soon approached by the federal government, with news that Zairadex had reformed itself with new techniques and a new leader.
With the final Catalyte still in government possession, they requested EvoRed's cooperation in forming a new iteration of the Evorangers, reborn to fight the revived Zairadex. Seeing no better option both for himself and the sanctity of the team he had helped form, EvoRed agreed to hand over the other three Catalytes, with the condition that he remained as the team's leader and would be allowed to personally approve new members.
20 years later, in the present, Zairadex and the Evorangers still exist, albeit in different forms. With both sides evenly matched, their battles became predictable and drawn-out, both for the combatants and for onlookers. While the original Evorangers were the biggest "celebrities" Japan had seen in a while, the new team was regarded more with dismissal or outright contempt from the public. In fact, a large portion of people believed that the threat of Phosphors had been wiped out a while ago, and their battles with the Evorangers were continued in the form of state-sponsored live performances.
The job of an Evoranger had also become highly standardized, with new members being selected by "talent scouts" and approved by EvoRed, who had taken on a new heroic identity as AkaViper, with EvoRed still publicly believed to have retired. Aside from EvoRed, Evorangers didn't stay on the team forever, most choosing to quit and give up their Catalytes after a period of service. While deaths still occurred, they were fairly rare, with measures being taken to ensure only those fit for the position were allowed to become Evorangers. With members coming and going irregularly, often the only thing that marked an Evoranger as part of their team was the heart shaped Catalyte displayed on their suits over their chest.
Recently, however, a new threat had befallen the Evorangers. Giant creatures began to attack across the country, looking not unsimilar to the enlarged Phosphors that Zairadex utilized in its crusade against the Evorangers. However, these appeared to be far more natural than the Phosphors, and while the Seiretsu Robo piloted by the Evorangers could easily dispatch of them, the impending 'kaiju' threat proved to be far more of a challenge. The only upside to the new development was that kaiju convinced the public that they were indeed in real danger, although faith in the Evorangers was not as high as it had been. Zairadex, on the other hand, did not claim the kaiju as their own creations, and as far as it seemed, they were fully unexplained natural phenomena.
During one such battle, the Evorangers had engaged a Phosphor with the Seiretsu Robo when their battle awoke a hibernating kaiju, aggravated enough to gang up on the giant robot. Later dubbed as Cholai, the kaiju sported a sharp crest it could use as a weapon. With the Seiretsu Robo already under strain from overuse fighting both Phosphors and kaiju, its armor was hardly at peak efficiency. After the Phosphor had been defeated, Cholai struck, severing Seiretsu Robo's arm and putting the rest of the body out of commission after. As it was about to move in for the killing blow, however, a sudden burst of light shot down from the sky, depositing a giant figure that engaged the kaiju. Although it managed to dispatch Cholai without too much of a struggle, the impact of its landing had lit the fuel tank of the Seiretsu Robo's arm on fire, with its pilot going unnoticed long enough for her to get choked out by the fumes. Sensing both the life that had been snuffed out as a consequence of its own action, along with the ebbing beat of the Catalyte Ember housed within, the giant of light extended its hand down, fusing its spirit with that of the young warrior housed inside the robot and bringing her back to life.
Characters:
Hiiro Nishimura (AkaViper): The original EvoRed. In his civilian identity, he works as a writer, having published a mildly successful autobiography about his time on the original Evorangers. After the success of that book, he moved on to narrative writing, working for several magazine publications on the side while he works on his novel. While it isn't his main place of residence, Hiiro often spends time at the Evoranger headquarters. There, he looks after Kokomu, a defective Zairadex experiment the original Evorangers took in, a bird that looks similar to a red parrot. Along with the standard issue EvoBlaster, a compact firearm marked with the insignia of a heart, AkaViper wields an extendable sword in the shape of a snake's tail. Ascends into Evolved Dragon.
Teru Abe (GinAntler): The silver Evoranger, based off of a deer. Viewed as a bit of a scientific prodigy, Teru is in his third year at university and is pursuing a degree in nuclear engineering. He was scouted for the Evorangers when he and a classmate fought off a horde of Tansen, humanoid minions of the Zairadex, from attacking their campus. Along with the standard issue EvoBlaster, GinAntler wields a polearm with a blade shaped like his namesake. Ascends into Evolved Pegasus.
Akina Matsumoto (KinSnapper): The golden Evoranger, based off of a penguin. She's also Teru's classmate in question, in her third year at the same university. While she's pursuing a degree in education, Akina is more known for her high energy attitude and athleticism, scoring a top position on the university's basketball team. Along with the standard issue EvoBlaster, KinSnapper wields circular discs in the shape of webbed feet connected together by a chain. Ascends into Evolved Phoenix.
Houga Ishikawa (MidoSwarmer): The green Evoranger, based off of an ant. The adopted son of the original EvoBlue and EvoYellow, Houga is starting his first year in university, living on campus and pursuing a degree in literature. Worried by Houga's sometimes erratic or abrasive behavior, EvoBlue contacted Hiiro, asking his friend to act as a mentor to Houga for at least his first year at college. While Hiiro initially refused, Houga insisted upon becoming an Evoranger, becoming the second-newest active member. Along with the standard issue EvoBlaster, MidoSwarmer wields curved mandible blades that can be worn on both arms. Ascends into Evolved Butterfly.
Yukine Itou (OrenGrowler): The orange Evoranger, based off of a lioness. Starting her final year of high school, Yukine was selected for the Evorangers through a government backed scholarship program, undergoing a few physical tests before being offered a spot after the previous rhino themed OrenCharger died. While she's hardly an outcast at her school, Yukine has no close friends of her own, feeling similarly out of place as part of the often dysfunctional Evorangers. She still lives with her parents, running a fansite for the overseas series Neohuman-X (although it hasn't been seeing much maintenance as of late). Along with the standard issue EvoBlaster, OrenGrowler wields a set of hooked claws she wears on each hand. Ascends into Evolved Gryphon, and the host of Ultraman Aquila.
Ultraman Aquila: The alien that arrived on Earth and fended off Cholai, bonding with Yukine. Dubbed such because of its visual similarities to an eagle, Aquila claims to be from a race with a galactic relation to the Neovians, here to investigate the kaiju outbreak on Earth. While its motivations seem honest, it keeps some secrets close to its heart, like its apparent curiosity over the Catalyte Embers. While able to communicate with Yukine, Aquila cannot interact with the physical world without transforming. However, if there are any nearby Yukine, Aquila can temporarily possess a bird to make its presence known, with the animal's eyes glowing amber. By taking the Orin Feather, a device shaped like a feather, holding it up with both hands, and pressing the button on its side, Yukine can transform into Ultraman Aquila.
Yua Kobayashi (Ultraman Baina/Shiropulsar/Kuropulsar): During their initial trip to Earth, the Neovians had used a temporary landing base in the Asteroid Belt to host their larger fleet and resources, specifically the Asteroid SB223. There, they produced the five Catalyte Embers they would give to the original Evorangers, along with several newer iterations of the mutation devices salvaged by the Zairadex. Upon their rather hasty departure from the Solar System, however, a large amount of discarded Catalyte Ore, biological waste matter, and radioactive material were left on the asteroid along with the Neovian ship. With time, the combination of these ingredients gave birth to life not dissimilar to the Neovians themselves- and in turn, close to the Ultras of Aquila's homeworld. This new Ultra developed rapidly, learning what it could from the Neovian records stored on the ship- along with adopting the name 'Baina' from a human name for the asteroid. Along with records, the Neovian ship also included a mechanism through which it could view the exploits of the Evorangers, using the Catalyte as a 'broadcast' to make Earth observable from the asteroid.
While Baina was able to live without interruption for several years, SB223 soon became on course to have its orbit approach Earth again. As it did so, Zairadex scanners picked up on the lifeform and Catalyte contained in SB223, which had burrowed into the heart of the asteroid over time. By using patched together organs from the brainwave kaiju Navilar, along with occupying the Evorangers with a Phosphor attack to cover up their true scheme, Zairadex constructed a device that would draw SB223 from its orbit and onto Earth, where they could extract the Catalyte. However, while their plan succeeded, the asteroid fell off-course due to the interference of a kaiju.
Caught by surprise, the force of the impact badly wounded Baina, forcing her into a human form. At the same time, the Catalyte fused with the radioactive material of the asteroid, becoming embedded in a device known as the Tri-Anchor. Although the Catalyte was unable to directly interface with her non-human heart, the Tri-Anchor allowed Yua to harness its power into white and black Evoranger forms, Shiropulsar and Kuropulsar, along with transforming into her Ultra form. The Tri-Anchor is shaped like a rod with a six pointed star at the top, which can be rotated to switch between forms.
Zairadex soon discovered the Catalyte was instead rapidly draining Yua's energy, a process that would prove fatal in mere months without regular bio-injections from the Neovian devices in their possession. Because of this, Baina was kept under Zairadex's thumb, frequently pitted against Aquila and the Evorangers. However, after a battle with a kaiju left Baina nearly entirely depleted of energy, it was discovered that Yukine's own Catalyte Ember had a similar enough signature to stabilize Baina, freeing her from her dependency.
As Shiropulsar, Yua wields a heavy mace, while as Kuropulsar, it becomes a spiked discus she throws from her finger. In both forms, she also has access to a modified version of the EvoBlaster, the EvoBuster bow and arrow. Ascends into Evolved Basilisk.
Forms:
Unknown to Yukine and even to the alien housed within her, there's more to the Catalyte Embers than meets the eye. The longer an Evoranger houses an Ember in their heart, the deeper it integrates into their body. While to most, it would be unnoticeable, Yukine's death and revival caused her Ember to affect Aquila too, taking on the shape of its color timer when they transform. Through this, Aquila can harness the power of Yukine's own human body to access forms and abilities for brief periods of time.
Ultraman Aquila Blood River: The first form Aquila gains, from the blood pumping its way into the Ember housed in Yukine's heart. Grants it greater maneuverability in the air along with enhanced beam attacks, along with the ability to create lethargy and sluggishness in its opponents.
Ultraman Aquila Bone Crater: The second form Aquila gains, from the ribs and skeleton surrounding the Catalyte Ember. Grants it greater strength and defense, along with an armor-like plating that grants it a longer resistance.
Ultraman Aquila Impulse Fault: The final form Aquila gains, from the bioelectric signals connected through Yukine's nerves to her mind. Grants it near-lightspeed movement, a jagged sword with power over lightning, and the ability to temporarily paralyze its opponents.
Ultraman Baina Ophiule Spirit: A good while after Yua joins the Evorangers, a message from the Alien Jailer makes its way to Earth. "Surrender the Ultras to us, or we extinguish your sun." Within minutes, a strange ring of debris and machinery becomes visible around the sun. As the only ones equipped to deal with the alien threat, Aquila and Baina make their way to the sun, where they are swiftly defeated and imprisoned by the race that had already overcome the Neovians.
While all seemed lost for a moment, both Ultras paralyzed by the Jailer technology, the intense heat of the sun began to trigger a reaction in Aquila. Combined with her resolve to survive and protect the Earth, the advent of Impulse Fault created a field of energy potent enough to change Baina too.
Ophiule Spirit is a ghost-like form, allowing for temporary intangibility, invisibility, and enhanced beam attacks. Along with the new form, Baina's transformation changes the Tri-Anchor into a sphere shaped device, accessing forms through mental command.
Complete Evolution Form: Upon stopping the final Zairadex doomsday device, the Evorangers came across a strange sphere shaped recording device. Taking it with them, it was revealed to be a journal from none other than EvoBlack. In it, he detailed his final investigations into the properties of Catalyte, stumbling upon the ultimate truth. Throughout their existence, the Evorangers had been used as biological batteries for the Neovians, 'converting' the raw energies of the material into a form that could be absorbed by their finest warriors. In their ambition to return to the Ultra homeworld and take it by force, the Neovians had engineered a drawn out conflict between the Evorangers and Zairadex, keeping the battle going for as long as they needed Earth to act as their batteries. EvoBlack's attempt to reverse this drain backfired, the gem granting his own demise.
It wasn't long before the Neovians descended to Earth once again, albeit with a different goal. It was clear Earth had run its usefulness, and so they would collect their resources and depart for a new planet. The Neovian warriors on the receiving end of the Catalyte drain, or the Ascenrangers, fought the Evorangers. However, with the help of a device made from Aquila's own essence, the Evorangers were able to turn the tide. Taking the Catalyte energy back into themselves, the Evorangers transformed again, into brand new forms.
Complete Evolution Form consists of Evolved Dragon, Evolved Pegasus, Evolved Phoenix, Evolved Butterfly, Evolved Gryphon, and Evolved Basilisk. Each evolution also sports a wing-like pattern on their costumes, a sign of their newly formed bond and the Ultra that made it possible.

I don’t have the civi forms yet, I’m working on it, but basically these five idiots are each from different times and all taken into the future by a very young time god who is just known as “Little Lady” (coming soon!) so they can stop a not very young time god called Admiral from resetting the universe again.
Themes are: Time (duh), generational changes, the ocean and its creatures, and the navy and its aesthetics.

This here is Marcus, from superdimensional sentai crystalbuster, a young transman who just turned 18, he's not a crystalbuster, but is in fact a metalcrusher (normally, the monsters of the week for our game) using the metal of rhodium, he managed to maintain most control over himself in his MC mode, and was talked down after a mental break resulted in an outburst, spurned on from online harassment manipulated by the villain of the game, to draw someone that one of the rangers (data) knew in the past.
