Ukitake Jushiro Oneshot (Bleach)
"Rukia-chan!"
The excited voice was always what she anticipated when you visited. Rukia smiled, sliding the door open. You were at the Sixth squad barracks, your captain being Rukia's very own brother. When you heard her, you raced to his office.
"Ohaiyo taicho!"
You greeted upon entering.
He nodded, getting back to his work. Since Rukia was mostly busy with missions in the world of the living, you didn't see her as much. And whenever she did come back she always had interesting stories to tell you.
"There's candy that's like cotton?" She nods excitedly.
"Ichigo isn't that fond of sweets, but it's delicious. ''
Your eyes lit up when she pulled out a small packet from her pocket. You could see the pink candy wrapped inside the clear bag.
"Sugoi!" your eyes lit up. The knocking on the door catches your attention.
"I'll get it Taicho."
So you moved to open it. The minute you slid it open and took in who was on the other side, your face erupted in red.
"Ohaiyo (Y/N)-san." your face blanked at the white haired male's greeting, and your body went rigid.
"A-Ah, are you alri-"
"I-I HAVE TO GO PLEASE EXCUSE ME!!!"
You sprinted away, the dust of your hurried escape making him cough, when it finally cleared, Rukia released a sigh, still holding the candy in her hand. Jushiro sulked, and a dark cloud hung over his head.
"(Y/N)-san really does hate me.."
Rukia sweatdropped. "Taicho, don't take it personally." She was fully aware of the reason behind your instant need to run, this had been happening for years.
~Ten years ago~
"Would you like some tea (Y/N)-san?"
"NO THANK YOU!!!!
~Five Years Ago~
"These beef buns are delicious, would you like some (Y/N)-san?"
"I'M A VEGETARIAN!!"
~Two days ago~
"I CAN'T UKITAKE-TAICHO!!!"
He sweatdropped.
"I didn't even say anything."
~Present~
His efforts to get on your good side was a constant struggle.
"Is there something you need?" Byakuya's casual voice asked.
"Yes, Head captain has requested that there be a small patrol through the Rukongai. There's a bit of hollow activity. I've already appointed my two third seats to join me. I was wondering if there was an officer you could spare. "
"(L/N)-san is available. " Jushiro laughed nervously.
"Given the circumstances, I don't think she would be too willing. "
"(L/N)." Jushiro blinked. They'd all clearly seen you rush off, so why was he calling you.
The quick pattering of feet echoed and you reappeared saluting.
"Taicho!"
"Accompany Ukitake-taichou to the Rukongai."
"Hai!!"
A bead of sweat ran down the side of Jushiro's head.
"He's treating her like a service animal."
There wasn't much that could be done. Rukia just smiled as Jushiro turned to leave, and you marched off stiffly. Maybe this was the push you needed to finally make a move.
Byakuya placed his pen down.
"Would you like to join me for some tea?" Rukia was glowing at the request.
"Hai Ni-sama!"
~~~~
"We both know he only brought you here because he felt obligated to Sentaro!!"
"Hah, speak for yourself Kiyone!!"
The bickering started from the point they'd started the trip. Jushiro glanced in your direction, spotting you walking at least ten feet behind him.
"(Y-Y/N)-san, you really don't have to walk so far behind."
"I must!"
You said, not giving anymore information. He sighed heavily. You studied Jushiro's form from behind, head lowering as you did your best to control your rapid heartbeat. It wasn't your intention to offend him, quite the opposite. As long as you'd been a part of the Gotei 13, you'd held feelings for the man. It's why you'd always reacted so poorly in his presence. You remembered your very first meeting so vividly.
~Flashback~
"Hurry up Hanataro, I don't want to be late on my first mission!" you grin, and Hanataro is running as fast as he can.
"Slow down, we're early!" he whined. You just snickered, about to flash step. Your lack of focus in front of you made you run into someone. You grunted, stumbling backwards. When you raised your head, you caught sight of the pink floral coat.
"Oh, what do we have here?" you flush, immediately noticing the captain.
"M-my apologies Kyoraku-taicho!" you kneel and he laughs.
"There's no need for that." He urges you to your feet, and you nod.
"You two must be new members. "
"Hai! (Y/N) (L/N), squad six, this is Hanataro Yamada, squad four. "
Kyoraku smiles. "Squad six, you'll be working with Kuchiki-san."
"Shunsui." The voice behind him has you leaning your head to the side. The man walking over made your eyes widen, heart thumping in your chest aggressively. He stood right beside Kyoraku, sending you a smile.
"Hello there, "
You stammered, no longer able to form actual words. You heard about most of the captains, and when the other girls fawned over certain ones, you didn't care. You thought it was just talk, but looking now, you could see the rumors about some of them were quite true. Long white hair, brown gentle eyes, tall and handsome. That must have been him, Jushiro Ukitake. He was everything they described. He was like an angel.
"W-We're late!!" you shouted. Grabbing Hanataro's hand, you bolted off, nothing but his screams echoing along the way. Kyoraku could only laugh.
"We've got an energetic bunch."
Safe to say that would not be the last they saw of the two of you.
~Flashback end~
Even then you could barely have a conversation with him. If you were in a room with other people, it wasn't as bad. In a professional setting you had to resist the urge to rush off.
"I'm pathetic." How were you ever going to win his heart if you bolted whenever you saw him.
"I'm stronger!"
"No I am!"
"I am!"
"Who is stronger taicho?!" Both subordinates asked. Jushiro scratched his head. He was about to offer a response, when the screech echoed. You all froze, and you eyes hardened, drawing your blade. Unease settled in Kiyone's eyes, and when the wave of reiatsu hit you all, you grounded your feet.
"T-Taicho!" He nods.
"We aren't dealing with a regular hollow, stay on guard. "
Sentaro stood in front of the female protectively, and your eyes scanned the area.
"There's more than one." Kiyone's grip tightened.
"I-I don't sense anymore."
The initial burst of energy was still lingering, but you could feel something else. Something that was doing it's best to mask it's presence.
Jushiro's eyes followed the direction you were looking at.
"I feel it too."
"Clever reaper."
You flinched, barely stopping the row on teeth that darted at you. Your arms lifted, pushing against the hollow that's teeth were determined to sink into your shoulder. Jushiro moved to assist, but two more appeared, and he split his blade instantly, firing to attack. Sentaro and Kiyone charged at the other.
"You're surprisingly smart, you were using the lower level ones to mask your spiritual pressure." It grinned, jumping back, and you braced yourself.
"Have fun."
You didn't like the sound of that. Your question was quickly answered when three more hollows appeared behind Jushiro.
"T-Taicho!!"
Kiyone was distracted, and the one in her line of vision struck, her body flying back. She hit the ground harshly, and Sentaro gritted his teeth, slashing it angrily before he rushed to her side.
Jushiro was still being circled by way too many, he was fending them off the best he could, but the situation wasn't looking very good. You tried to stay focused on the one that had targeted you in the beginning, but you couldn't pinpoint where it went. The second you finally narrowed down your search, you gasped.
"Ukitake-taicho watch out!!"
Your warning was too late, the hollow reappeared, it's hand going right through his shoulder. He grunted, and you could see the others about to take their shut.
"TAICHO!"
You could hear the fear in his subordinates voice. Closing your eyes, you disappeared, your blade left hovering in the air. When you were visible again. You opened your palm, pointing your finger.
"Bakudo 61: Six Light Rod Prison!"
The larger hollow screeched, falling at the light that trapped his body. It staggered, and the attack gave Jushiro the opening he needed. The flash stepped, just in time it seemed. He was by your side in a matter of seconds.
"Arigatou (Y/N)-san.."
His breathing was a bit labored, and the wound was bleeding quite a lot. Still he stood his ground. The hollow that was captured was still struggling against his restraints.
"You stupid reaper!! I'LL KILL YOU! ATTACK!!"
The three hollows in your vision charged, and you smirked.
"Disengage, Kazuya."
Your blade that was still standing upright in the air began to spin, and a bout of fire shot out. The flames shone bright, disintegrating the hollows before they could even get within three feet of you. The hollow that was currently bound to the floor was no longer shooting out threats. When the flames dissipated, you moved over, grabbing the hilt of your blade.
"S-Stay back!"
You heed no warning, slicing it vertically down the middle. It was gone within seconds. Sheathing your blade, you did a quick survey. You could no longer feel any type of pressure.
"They're gone."
No longer in danger, you flashed back to Jushiro. Placing a hand on his back you supported his weight. You knew he was doing all he could not to fall. The attack topped with his condition could not have been that great.
"I've got you Ukitake-taichou."
He glanced at you, the soft look in your eyes so reassuring.
You guided him back to the ground, and you could see Sentaro helping Kiyone to her feet. He lifted her bridal style, her complaints following.
"H-Hey I can walk you big dummy!"
"Sentaoro-san, get Kiyone to the fourth squad, make sure she's alright. I'll take care of Ukitake-taicho, then I'll send my report in."
It was obvious Jushiro was in no shape to do much but rest. Sentaro nodded, taking off with Kiyone. Once they were gone, you started moving with Jushiro.
"We'll be there in just a few Ukitake-taicho."
Your feet left the ground, doing your best to avoid landing on rough areas. Flashstepping was effective, but with the delicate situation of his wound, you needed to go slower than normal.
"You respond really well under pressure (Y/N)-san." His voice was strained.
"Save your strength, we're almost there." Your stern way of talking reminded him an awful lot of Byakuya, and he smiled at the thought.
"I appreciate you looking out for my officers like you did. Your blade, you left it in the air in case more showed up." You were about to lecture him again about being still, but he was gazing at you with such an adoring look, and any instruction you tried to provide was lost in your throat.
"I apologize if I've done something to offend you. I truly believe you're a remarkable person. Today just proved that."
Your eyes shook. This entire time you'd been so blatantly running, never truly accounting for how bad he must have felt. Of course he assumed it was something he did.
"You've done nothing wrong. It's my fault." You stopped, landing just outside the fourth barracks. When Jushiro looked over, he was stunned at your red cheeks. You wouldn't meet his eyes, and that's when it seemed to truly hit him.
"I..I like you Ukitake-taicho."
The confession made his eyes grow wide.
"(Y/N)-san-"
"Ukitake-taicho!"
Three of squad four's members rushed out, helping the injured male out of your grasp. He couldn't say much more, and you watched as they took him to help treat his wounds. You wanted to follow, but one of them blocked you.
"Please stay here, we need to work." you nod, eyes falling.
"I-I understand."
Just like that they were all inside, and you stood there, heart beating quickly.
It was a given that he would be alright.
The question was, would your heart be.
Absolutely loving the doubles!!!
(Author Note)
Hello there!
Yes, I can! I love Sentaro so much, it would be so much fun to try out this new, fun topic idea!!
_______________________________________________
Story Details:
Concept: A famous Kpop idol (you) was performing. Unfortunately, a child ended up getting hurt because of harmful people in the crowd. The child was taken to Seimei University Hospital, and you decide to make sure the child is okay. You end up meeting Sentaro.
Notes:
No type of NSFW.
Not a romantic relationship, more of a platonic "flirty" friendship.
Told in second person.
Please excuse any loose punctuation/spelling/grammar. I'm working on getting better but for now, please excuse me.
Daiki is a completely made up character, using a name for this character was easier for me.
Short story.
_______________________________________________
You walked back and forth in the waiting room. You knew that kid would be okay. After all, this is the number one hospital, Seimei University Hospital.
That didn't matter to you. What mattered was the child that got hurt at your concert.
You weren't related to the child in anyway, no. You didn't even know how old the child was, who the child had been with, or even the child's name.
One minute you were performing, thousands cheering your name as you sang and rapped to your songs. Next moment, you saw a child laying on the ground, being stepped on and trampled over.
You called off the concert, getting medical help for the child.
Now you were here. Pacing back and forth to reassure yourself that everything would be okay, fidgeting with your hair and clothing.
A nurse came in to check on you. It wasn't about the kid, it was about you and how you were doing. You didn't care how you were doing.
You finally sat down, looking around the room and lazily pointing out objects in the room.
Desk.
Cups.
Magazines.
Sure, it was just a game of Ispy with yourself, but familiarizing yourself with your surroundings did calm you down.
There was a knock on the door.
"Yes?" You asked, sitting up straight. You hoped it was a nurse or doctor, finally here to deliver information.
It wasn't the nurse from last time. It was a nice looking man. "Hello there. I'm Sentaro Kyogoku. I have an update on Daiki."
Daiki... that's was the kid's name. Even as that thought hit your brain, that wasn't the main concern. The main concern was Daiki and this update.
Sentaro held the door open. "I wanted to show you Daiki. To reassure you."
You nodded, appreciating the gesture.
The room wasn't very far. Throughout the entire walk, your heart began to beat faster. You glanced at Mr. Kyogoku, who had a smile at his face.
A smile that showed someone who was calm, prepared, knew what they were doing.
And so your heart began to beat slower, reassuring you that it was okay.
When Mr. Kyogoku opened the door, Daiki was asleep. "We checked him over and luckily, he's doing good."
As Mr. Kyogoku went over the kid's condition, your body finally calmed down. "Thank you Mr. Kyogoku."
"You can call me Sentaro." Sentaro replied.
You sat down in an empty seat.
Sentaro looked over his clipboard, then at you. "Are you related to Daiki?"
"No. Not at all. I just wanted to make sure he was okay." You explained to him what happened.
After you did, Sentaro seemed to have a new understanding. "That's very nice of you. You could have just kept performing."
While that was true, you'd never put a concert or a song over a human life. It was just something you lived by.
You could already picture the headlines. Some positive and praising you for saving a child's life, and some scolding and blaming you.
Neither mattered. The child being okay mattered.
"Here's some water." Sentaro held out a cup of water.
"Thank you." You grinned a bit, and sipped the water. Something about the cold water touching your tongue and root of your mouth relaxed you.
Sentaro sat besides you, filling out a paper attached to the clipboard. It wasn't your business so you didn't look.
"I think I heard your latest song." Sentaro suddenly chimed.
"Ah, really?" You asked, a bit shocked. "I didn't take you for the type to like my music."
As if to disprove your comment, he began humming your latest song. Not only was it right, but every hum was perfectly in tune.
You joined in too, occasionally stopping to take a sip of water.
You went through the entire song, and hummed a couple other of your songs.
As if your minds connected, you both finished humming at the same time. "Thank you." You said, looking over yourself from happiness but some embarrassment.
"I could tell you were stressed." Sentaro said to you, a bit of a smile placed on his face.
A smile was on yours too.
"Are concerts hard?" Sentaro asked, attempting conversation.
Before you knew it, the conversation lasted for a bit. You didn't remember the last time you were this relaxed.
Then a knock boomed on the door.
Sentaro stood up, heading to the noise. He peaked through, before turning to you. "Seems like I'm needed elsewhere."
"Aww." You pretended to pout, getting a chuckle out of Sentaro.
"I'll come back when I finish my work." He opened the door. "See you later."
You waved as he closed the door, and turned back to Daiki. You observed the child, sleeping peacefully.
All the while, you hummed under your breath.
