❛❛ the realm owes you a great debt. ❜❜ / @sentinaels ( kettricken )
❛❛ oh, my queen — ❜❜ with the softness of a sigh, the fool takes her hands in his: speaking in a single touch of debts long - since paid, and of old friends found again. for a moment he thinks that he might weep, but, even as the tears begin to well, he smiles, freeing her hands with a squeeze and using his own to straighten the satins and silks that have replaced his well - worn motley. ❛❛ any debt the realm owes me has been paid a thousandfold. you know, i have became a very wealthy man. ❜❜ he laughs, a sound like the chiming of bells. ❛❛ i have changed, but you are exactly the same. i don't know how you do it. ❜❜
an alternate/headcanon based/show leaning yet book inspired version of elena gilbert with anya chalotra (or banitha sandhu or charithra chandran) as her fc and the reasoning for that is the fact that there are two dead indian characters in the tvdeu, one who didn't even get a name and got devoured by malivore and one who's still alive but was written off so there is a grand total of four indian characters in the tvdeu: there was aimee bradley in tvd, portrayed by tiya sircar but she was killed because katherine wanted to make a point at the masquerade ball; there was gia, portrayed by nishi munshi, in the originals who was killed by klaus because he wanted to make a point to elijah; there was emma tig, portrayed by karen david, in legacies and we knew nothing about her other than the fact she was a witch and a guidance counselor and that she ended up with dorian and eventually moved away.
my very alternate and headcanon based take on maggie gilbert because she should have been in the show (and yes her fc would also be someone of indian descent).
a supernatural oc - she'd either be the daughter of dean and kali or sam and kali. she would be born from fire as a nod to draupadi's story.
marvel and/or dc characters of indian descent because there are many and i'm pretty sure i made a list detailing some of their adventures and also ocs belonging to the aforementioned universes.
two teen wolf ocs. dunno who or why or how but that would be fun. one oc would have a biiiig big crush on scott mccall and the other one would be younger and would carry a torch for hayden and liam.
libby rhodes with kritika bharadwaj as the fc. just because i can.
qcode podcast characters.
dnd/cr/dimension 20 ocs.
just a lot of ocs in general. i have so many ideas.

[*Leans into the mic* Making Ganondorf hot doesn't make him a good character in TotK. In fact, he is very sloppily written and SUPER boring because they once again have continued the trend of just making him evil for the sake of evil instead of keeping the idea of him having motive and care for his people introduced in Wind Waker and, arguably, OoT to a very subtle degree. And TotK would have been a PRIME opportunity to showcase the more complex villain they STARTED to flesh out in previous incarnations and they just. Didn't. Instead, the substituted making him attractive for substance and it's a DISGRACE.
The Gerudo deserve better. Not enough people talk about how the Gerudo are basically a joke in BotW/TotK and it really bothers me. Granted, at their introduction they weren't handled well, but they didn't feel like a damn joke, either. I mean...damn they can't even handle the Yiga Clan r u kitten me? And don't get me started about the shit I've ranted about a million times with how not only were they made obsessed with getting married, but how they also made that a rite of passage. I literally die. Little girls should be able to look up to the Gerudo for their strength, independence, and resilience, not fed a sexist, ultra conservative narrative that all that matters in life for girls and women is finding a husband to serve.]
thank you lots for these! ♡ very fun to think about and answer! all under the cut because it's a doozy. i am not a concise person, what can i say :'D
when did you first start writing?
in the roleplaying context, ten years ago ( half of which i took a hiatus for aslfkjsdl )! core memory, no joke, i can still very keenly remember weird details of the day it all started. as a hobby, this started way back before i even hit secondary school! i was not an objectively good writer, but no tween really is. i had lots of fun and all the cringefail phases i've gone through since have helped me get to where i am now in my writing development — i can at least say i'm happy with where i'm at with that! and i'm still having fun! ♡
in what language did you start writing?
online? english....my beloathed. very ironic, i know aslkfjdsl
if your mother tongue is not the language you write now, what caused you to switch languages?
quite honestly for the engagement! then simply because i feel i got better at writing in english than i could in vietnamese — my education for both differed, especially in my adolescent years, and i've practiced literacy in this context more for english than i have for viet.
i am still very insecure about my grasp of english in online spaces though ( my writing process involves a lot of me searching up even the simplest words to ensure their meaning and that they will convey what i want you to feel, i still forget words or mix phrases up — sorry to my dm buddies when this happens btw — and my editing is so time-consuming because i have to often cut things or rephrase them to avoid being redundant ), which is why i have that it's my second language disclaimer alfjslfk
what was the first muse that you’ve written?
my first ever muse was my lovely queen zelda from twilight princess! she saw me through a lot of my roleplaying firsts, honestly. she still holds such a special place in my heart because of all the experiences writing her allowed me to make, as well as all the wonderful people i befriended through her that i still haven't forgotten about to this day!
( i always find myself missing one in particular when the mood hits, because we were years-long mains during what felt like the peak of the zelda rpc prime and she was as close to an exclusive affiliate i'd ever get. i hope you've been doing super well out there, my liege!! if we ever somehow get to writing again, y'all will just not be ready for my unhinged status over her link, and my zelda, and the midzelink we've crafted entire worlds over, and that is a promise aflkjdsj )
do you still write your first muse?
unfortunately, no! i have dipped in and out with her before, but i don't know if i'll ever return to her now when i've got so many others wrangling for my time and energy...i think i would like to if i got the opportunity to regularly write with twilight princess muses again :) zelda was a more character-contained muse, in that i studied less of the world-lore around her and more of her, her dynamics, and her relationships, so activity would be very slow and pretty contingent on level of interest from others aslkfdjf
what caused you to start writing? what was your key point?
okay. don't laugh at me please. i'm pretty sure this is a connecting point for a few of us. but for fanfic purposes, of course asflkjds i started reading fics before i started writing any, and only began doing so because there was such a dearth of the stories that catered specifically to my niche whims and wants that past ray was like "FINE. i'll do it myself"
now, fr, you gotta promise to not laugh at me. the want for a more interactive experience didn't really hit until i discovered tumblr ask blogs, wherein i wanted to have a try at running one myself! then that evolved into more writing than art...then i just leaned into roleplaying wholeheartedly asflkjdf everybody say thank you to artists for inspiring artists!
have you ever written a canon muse that you first thought of ‘meh’ when they appeared in their canon show/movie/book?
not that i can think of, no! i don't tend to pick up muses i don't feel super invested in. if it's meh in the more oh this character SUCKS sense, then i guess. rauru? like i love that funky fellow, or at least huge parts of him that i'll steal from nintendo because man what the fuck were they doing with him, but he seems to be my most polarising muse in terms of audience reception aflksjdla this isn't a dig at anyone for that btw!!
how far do you go with divergencies when it comes to your canon muse?
as far as it'll take for me to be satisfied with them! this ofc differs with every muse, but i try to keep general characterisations unchanged — or at least the parts of them that stand out to me and feel crucial to who my muses are.
e.g. i ignored the entirety of the hidden world when it came to writing toothless from httyd, because its depiction of his behaviour ( and hence, implicated thoughts ) was so extremely Bad Tier, i was flabbergasted that it came from the same writer as httyd2. there was, imo, such a huge gap between the toothless of httyd2 and the toothless of the hidden world in terms of characterisation and character development ( ESPECIALLY with what it did to his bond with hiccup. i'm still infuriated about that ) that i had an entire rewrite where things might've ended the same way, but it would've taken a different road for berk to get there in the works.
that's when canon has disappointed me to the extreme, though aflkdslj i have misgivings about totk, yes, but i doubt you'll be seeing unprompted >2.5k words essays from me regarding my birdies or even rauru ( if only because nintendo didn't give us enough about him to make me feel like they fucked up beyond words ) anytime soon.
with rauru, anyway, it's more of a..."i am construing him differently; you couldn't make him palatable despite clearly wanting to do so, so i'm making him 'palatable' ( in the HE AND HIS FAULTS ARE SO INTERESTING I WANT TO EXPLORE THEM IN A WAY THAT DOESN'T HAVE ME GAGGING sense ); also i think you make him way too important without actually committing to the bit, so i'm gonna give him so many complexes about it" case.
what do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them? / for jc first, but feel free to add wwx and/or jyl in if you want :eyes: ( @sentinaels / character building, always accepting )
jiang wanyin notices his mother's glare in the mirror, the scornful look etched deep into the tense lines of his face, the way his knuckles turn white and grip onto zǐdiàn as if it were his life line. he notices how his back is straight and shoulders pulled back, how his hair is always pulled up into its half - do; he notices how similar to his father he seems like this and almost dares to imagine his hands firm and guiding on his stature, reminding him daily what his future is. he notices flames razing in the darks of his pupils, sees blood on his hands, sees a gaping hole in his chest, and he sees an emptiness behind him that stretches for miles and miles.
but when people look at him, they notice how confident his stride is- how, with each step he takes, he is sure and unwavering and proud and resilient. they whisper how he is surely the lotus pier's leader, how he is a lotus in nature and word, that he is yunmeng's pride. they look at him and see a man who is capable, a man who has tortured and protected others from the branches and wisps of demonic cultivation. they look at him and they do not remember the boy who ran through yunmeng's roads. they look at him and do not remember how he would stand beside his shīxiōng as the said shīxiōng would barter for lotus seeds, peanuts, and alcohol. they look at him and do not remember the way he'd smile tenderly, the way he'd stare at his jiě and wish her the entire world and more.
they look at him and see him a sect leader worthy of all their love and respect, so they bow and they bow until foreheads hit the ground.
( the elders will speak over worn cups of tea, whispering amongst themselves as jiang wanyin strides down the roads of yunmeng- their eyes linger on the way violet - silver robes move like waves between the common folk and they look at him, they remember jiang fengmian and his two sons with their wooden swords. they look at him and remember jiang wanyin's smiling face, the way three puppies would run and he'd chase. they look at him and remember jiang wanyin with wei wuxian. they look at him and they see a man made of worn grief and loneliness. )
sometimes i wonder what’s going on in that head of yours . / from bella!

Link flushes slightly when he realizes the Queen has just asked him a question directly. He has only recently started living in the castle, training alongside his father to hopefully one day start formal training of his own. But his father has important business with the king today, meaning that Link has been largely left up to his own devices, wandering the castle grounds to try to find something interesting to do.
It is only with the Queen's question that he realizes just how far his wandering has taken him, and he just remembers to offer a quick bow. Fisted hands makes a quick circle over his chest before he taps himself on the chest. Both hands reach up, palms flat, to frame his face before he quickly shifts his hands and therefore his vision away. << Sorry, I was distracted. >>
Mercy lounges on her back with the bonelessness of a pampered house-cat. Only instead of a feather bed, she’s lying on a fallen log that rests by the pondside. The colors are marvelous: sunlight dappling through the trees, wildflowers littering the grass in blues and yellows. Pretty little clearing she’s found, isn’t it? Babbling brook feeding into a playful little pond, surrounded on all sides by woods. Peaceful. No place for the likes of her, really. She toys with the petals of a wildflower she picked, twirling it to and fro. Then she lifts it in Gawain’s direction, batting black lashes. An offering? Maybe.
“Your — y’know. Duel.” Mercy wasn’t there, but she doesn’t have to be. Rumors spread; people talk. Especially about a fight to the death in Camelot’s front fucking yard. Knights. She doesn’t understand them. What’s the point of fighting fair and square when a quick knife to the back would do the job just as well and twice as clean?
❛ at my age ... well, very little surprises me. ❜
@sentinaels & morgan.
❛ your age ? ❜ an eyebrow arched high on her face as the girl looked around, posture relaxing in the wake of her interrupted prayer. it was a sentiment she had heard a thousand times, from her mother, her aunts, the elders of the gerudo, & it usually acted as a warning, a sign that a lesson was imminent, & that one should flee while they still had the chance. the urge to run, however lay dormant, her curiosity wakening instead as she peered through the shadows of the temple, drinking in the newcomer’s appearance. her age, she said, as if she had been there at the beginning of the world, but if pressed, nabooru would guess she had seen twenty – some years beneath the sun, thirty at a push.
❛ well, that might be true for you, but you got the drop on me for sure. i didn’t even hear you come in, ❜ a great feat of stealth indeed ; though carpets had been laid down to muffle the sound of people moving throughout the temple, footsteps still echoed endlessly, & though she had intended to lose herself entirely in prayer, beseeching the goddess of the sand as she never had before to grant her an answer, one ear had been cocked, as always, listening for any who might arrive, & interrupt her. perhaps her ears were not as sharp as she believed ; perhaps the other’s footsteps had been drowned out by the incessant melody which echoed through her mind, ever present, yet unable to be sung aloud.
❛ didn’t expect anyone else here so early, huh ? ❜ she hadn’t either, & she felt the faintest prick of irritation at the other’s presence. she had slept in the temple overnight in order to secure the peace & quiet of the early morning, had lit the surrounding candles to grant her light until the rising of the sun, had laid before the statue of the goddess all she would need in the act of her devotion, & had hardly closed her eyes before being interrupted. she wouldn’t cause an argument, not here, but the smile she gave the newcomer was not quite as genuine as she wished it to be, at a tightness at the corners of her mouth giving her away.
❛ neither did i. it’s exactly why i came. are you here to pray too ? ❜ she asked, as courteously as she could, all the while hoping the answer would be no.
