      The tachi tilts his head at the other’s words as he returns Hasebe’s frown with his own small muted smile.  While it was said in the other’s usual gruff tone, there’s a hint of concern in those words.  The uchigatana must be feeling a little anxious, since he’d be away from their master for some time.

      Like Sayo, the man would be leaving for awhile in hopes of becoming stronger so he felt it was his duty to see him off as well.  He had already said good-bye to Fudou who left earlier with the small acorn Mikazuki had picked in the mountains.  The tantou had an unusual look of determination that Mikazuki hadn’t seen before but it suited him well.  

      “Of course.  You already know to do the same, correct?”  He replies with a hum, before he reaches into his sleeve for the uchigatana’s parting gift--  

      “Hold out your hand.  I have a surprise for you.”

花 — Ahh, he feels the trepidation rolling off of the uchigatana and Jin has to hold back the bubbling laughter. Nothing escapes the sage’s discerning gaze especially when it comes to his favorite toy. Heshikiri Hasebe has always been a good man, especially as the assistant to his dear partner. 

“Nothing of the sort. It is a but simple scouting venture.” He had already changed his clothing to match with the times. Jin finds that he can never accustom himself to the flow of traditional clothing.

“We will be going to Edo.” He states without much flare. “Shirokanedai, more specifically.” 

Intelligence reports from the Ministry of Defense has predicted this area to be under threat of revisionist attacks. Getting a lay of the land will help him with choosing his tactics to combat the enemy. 

Yamatonokami has nagged him previously about going alone. Who was he to know that there were wolves in the forest? Much to his own luck, they were at least friendly. At the thought, he reminisces the softness of their fur. Such a heavenly experience.

       “Are you worried about me running off on my own again, Heshikiri Hasebe?”  Amusement evident in his voice as he sheathes his blade, crescent eyes gazing at the uchigatana teasingly.  He’s met with the usual stoic and stern expression that the blade was infamous for in their citadel--which only makes a chuckle escape from him in response.  Among those chosen as leader, Hasebe had already remarked that he’d be “baby-sitting” the “old man” for their master while on this expedition.  

     Well, considering what he did last time...he supposed it’s natural for their master to be worried.  

     “I will be sure to act according to your orders.  You are the captain after all.”  He gives the other his usual smile before going to pat the other’s shoulder in a friendly manner.  “I will jump when you want me to, and run when you say.  That is enough for now, hm?”

    "I’d say that’s one of my better qualities.”  The saniwa replies as her hands skillfully wrap his hand in bandages.  The wound would no doubt heal within a few hours and maybe it was pointless to treat such a small wound in the long run but she still always did it anyway.  Hasebe had been the only one to be injured and it was strange since he had just returned from the expedition party she has sent out in the morning.  The other swords were fine as she didn’t catch sight of any blood or limping so that means they probably weren’t attacked.  

    “Did something go wrong during the trip?  It’s not like you to get injured.”  Her brows furrow slightly, before hazel eyes lock with his purple ones.  “Oh--don’t worry about a report.  A verbal one will be fine for today.”

    “If kebishii are appearing more frequently in that area then perhaps we have overlooked something...”  The tachi trails off, a thoughtful look forming onto his visage.  Those foes were attracted to areas with many time disruptions--but neither of their teams had been dispatched there in awhile besides the scouting mission the uchigatana had just returned from.  

     The Kamakura age, and the Genko war--was there something stirring with the revisionist?  Onimaru had mentioned going to that area for a survey earlier but hadn’t mentioned anything specific to him besides Higekiri giving him a headache.  

     “When you last visited how frequent were the attack?  Were they interested in us or did the revisionists take priority?”
