Inspiration: UHHH let’s just say me and my ex never did any sort of PDA so I thought this meme was really cute and relatable.
Soobin wasn’t really used to the idea of her dating Seola.
They’ve only been dating for a few months and they’ve been friends for who knows how long.
Things were a little blurry when differentiating the difference between them being friends and them being a couple.
The biggest indicator was physical forms of affection. Sadly, in a scrutinizing society like South Korea’s, things like kissing and holding hands were something Soobin wasn’t comfortable doing. Since they were in the earlier stages of their relationship, there wasn’t much of that in their private lives either.
Seola is considerate though. She’ll take whatever pace Soobin wants to go and she just enjoys being with her.
Today, they planned on getting dinner together.
There’s an empty feeling when Seola can’t hold her hand, but she knows they’ll build up to it. She hates the tension in the air when Soobin gives her a look as she pulls out her chair for her and offers to grab her coat. Seola can only pray Soobin’s paranoia will ease away.
Conversation is awkward between them, but Seola knows Soobin needs some food in order for things to warm up.
Honestly, it's magical to witness Soobin come to life when food appears in front of her. Suddenly, the shy girl has a lot of stories to tell and doesn’t spare any details. She’ll talk about her day, what’s been bothering her, something she’s been thinking about whether it’s about the sounds pterodactyls make or how to describe the color red.
And that’s what Seola loves about her: how she talks so passionately and how she gets embarrassed when she rambles. She’ll do small talk, but she’s not embarrassed to speak what’s on her mind.
Maybe she can’t hold Seola’s hand or kiss her unapologetically, but she can lean her head on her hand and sweetly gaze at her girlfriend while she talks about things she doesn’t even talk about with their group of friends.
“You’re staring.”
Seola just rolls her eyes, but maintains her smile. “Anybody can stare at you, Soobinnie.”
Soobin just bites her lip. “Yeah, but if you do it… I’ll lose focus.”
That’s another thing about Soobin. Besides her blunt storytelling, she had her ways of flirting with Seola.
The elder complies and gives her attention to the brisket in front of them.
Soobin attempted to restart her train of thought, but failed. She also continued flipping the browning brisket.
It was quiet again, but Soobin could also appreciate the sizzling meat and the fact that Seola was also broiling in her own thoughts.
They continued to flip meat until their tongs caught up on each other. For some odd reasons, the prongs cling to each other and it was difficult taking them apart.
“Hey look,” Seola stopped them from separating the cluster. “Our tongs are holding hands!”
It was honestly such a dumb statement, yet it made Soobin’s face warm up (and she knew it wasn’t from the grill).
Soobin hates how whipped she was for Seola.
She shyly pulls away, but Seola grabs her tongs, gaining Soobin’s interest.
When then made eye contact, Seola playfully puckers her lips.
Soobin drops her tongs. She doesn’t know what that meant, but something in her is swooning.
“Are you okay?” Seola thinks Soobin burned herself.
Soobin twiddles her thumbs. “Y-yeah.”
“Show me your hand.” Seola holds out her hand.
Soobin doesn’t understand, but complies anyways.
Seola checks her hand. “Doesn’t look burnt.”
“I didn’t burn my hand.” She’s about to retreat until Seola plants a kiss on her knuckles.
Soobin’s eyes grow wide. She quickly retracts her hand and looks around. Thankfully, everyone else was too consumed by the food or company directly in front of them.
“Why are you so jumpy?” Seola giggles.
Soobin feels like she’s going to pass out. The entire time they were dating, she’s been the most cautious because Seola voiced her worries about public scrutiny.
This had to be the cruelest form of teasing.
“We’re in public. Aren’t you cautious?”
Seola rolls her eyes. Soobin was right. She just couldn’t help herself. She picks up a piece of meat and places it in a lettuce wrap. She folds it nearly before presenting it to her girlfriend. “Open wide.”
