My 선배 (school senior) is on his way! Of course, he's taking the most roundabout way of getting here so I won't see him until Friday, but still. Super stoked for our Korea adventures! modernlifeismax
Just a little rant
Ok so like I've been on tumblr for only a short while now and I've noticed a lot of people calling other people 'senpai'. Now I had no idea what this meant so i googled it (as one normally would). So after some research (aka clicking on the first thing that came up), I realized that 'senpai' a Japanese word that is the equivalent to the Korean word 'seonbae'. Ok...
So... now is where I get confused. So the majority of the blogs that I follow are kpop- or korea-related, so why do these people use senpai? Like I know that people may be more familiar with senpai from anime or something but like if you're a korean based blog then why dont you use the korean word?
And its not like seonbae is a uncommon word. I mean if anyone has seen Boys Over Flowers, they would know that Geum Jandi calls Jihoo seonbae about 50 times.
So my question is: Why can't you just use seonbae? Its not that different from senpai, but at least it fits the theme of you're blog....
Am I the only one?
i made thiz!!!!!
