“I can’t do this. It’s too much. It feels terrible.”
You’re sitting with your knees tucked under your chin and your face buried in your arms. You find yourself in this position more often than not these days, conscience gnawing at you so much that you think you will lose your mind if it continues.
Where you can see bits of the world around you, your eyes catch glimpses of silver. You can instantly tell that it’s his tail, emerging from the dark water for brief moments before disappearing again. A silent sign that he’s here, keeping you company and listening. But the way it sometimes twitches tells you that he’s agitated.
You’re sat on a rock that is barely above the water surface. During low tides you often meet down here, because the shore is a small bay surrounded with rocks tall enough that you can always find a shadow to rest in. But right now, it’s cloudy, and the sun is close to setting behind the thick clouds anyway. The smell of petrichor tells you it will likely start raining soon.
“I feel like I’m betraying a part of me” you whisper. You wonder if your voice can be heard in the water. You suspect he can hear it anyway. “I’m just a human, Hwa.”
The sudden splash of freezing water makes you flinch. Right next to your silhouette, he smoothly pulls himself up and sits on the rock next to you. His tail dangles off the rock’s edge and disappears in the darkness below.
“It’s just nature” he says after a moment. There’s heaviness in his tone, like he knows exactly what’s gnawing at you, but it doesn’t show in his words. “You don’t have to feel bad for what’s natural.”
“If it was just about what’s natural, we wouldn’t be sitting here like that, would we” you almost bark at him, emotions spilling over. “We would be at each other’s throats. But we’re not. This is so fucked up.”
For a moment, he doesn’t reply, and you let out a frustrated huff, pushing yourself up. You think you need to take a break. To walk away, anywhere, or you will go insane here.
But he doesn’t let you. His hand grabs your ankle and pulls. You lose your footing, your head misses the rock surface just by a hair when he pulls you into the water, and the coldness surrounds you along with darkness, and you don’t know where is up and where is down, thrashing your limbs as he drags you lower, lower… or back up? You were barely quick enough to hold your breath. The coldness paralyses you. You feel his body against yours, but you aren’t sure if it’s the water pressing on you or his arms. Something sharp brushes your neck, threatening to break skin. Teeth?
Your mind doesn’t comprehend it before you suddenly find yourself above the surface again. You take the biggest breath, water running down your face and your arms in his steel grip, preventing you from going under again. You’re fully clothed in today’s weather, but you can imagine the slimy surface of his scales as your legs brush his tail somewhere down there, out of your sight.
“I hate it, Hwa” you sob. Your voice is broken. You’re stunned and shaking, yet your hands naturally fall on his shoulders, trying to ground yourself. His skin is cold. His face is unreadable as his dark eyes bear into yours. The water around you reflects the dim light of the sky. You’re freezing. “I don’t want to do this. I feel like a monster.”
“You’re not doing anything but helping me.” One hand leaving your arm and touching your cheek, the other slides down to wrap around your waist, keeping you against him. You’re still scared to let go. He wouldn’t drop you, would he? But you’re just so cold. Too cold to think clearly.
“I’m helping you kill!” Your voice is raised and your teeth are clattering.
“You’re helping me feed.”
“On humans, for fuck’s sake!”
“Because that’s the natural order of things. That’s what sirens do. And…” He starts swimming forward until your back hits the rock behind you, and suddenly you’re trapped. So close to the shore, if only you had a moment, you could flee. But he doesn’t let you. “Every time you come here, I imagine I’m ripping flesh off your body and devouring it until there’s none of you left” he whispers into your ear. “All my instincts tell me is that I should feast on you. Rip you apart.” You feel something sharp. Are these really just the rocks behind you? Or… “But I wouldn’t do that. You’re right, it’s fucked up. There’s blood on both our hands. Difference is, I’d still hold yours in front of God. Tell me you would, too. Tell me I’m more important to you than your morals. Or I will bury you deep underwater so at least your conscience can find peace.” It’s not a threat. Not really. It’s an offer. He doesn’t want to hurt you. But if that’s the justice that you need, he won’t keep it away from you. He’s not selfish.
“I don’t want to die” you finally utter in a small voice. The clattering of your teeth has calmed down. The water feels much warmer now. You lean forward and rest your face in the crook of his neck. Right now even his skin feels warm. You think it’s the first time he feels like human to you.
Maybe it’s too late. He can’t get you home, into warmth and safety.
The sky rumbles with a thunder and the night grows denser.

Sometimes Things Don't Go As Planned || P.S Mafia AU
[I don't do mafia aus but I just felt like this fit so I did this one exception]
Sometimes things don't go as planned... Sometimes people aren't honest, and sometimes you wish you had made different life choices, but by then it might be too late.
Seonghwa spent a lifetime cursing the path he had followed, cursing the people that had stolen his chance of a normal life, of growing up with loving parents, of having normal friends and going to the park, of falling down and scratching his knee and having his mom give it a kiss so the pain goes away, but he learned that he hadn't been born for that. And Seonghwa lived a life of internal pain and agony, knowing that he had been born with one purpose: simply to follow orders and make things happen.
But his cold, dead heart started beating again when he saw you.
At first he felt angry. He had never loved anything before, he didn't know what was happening. He didn't know why the picture of your face and body didn't leave his head, and he didn't know why his heart beat faster and his face felt hotter whenever he saw you walking on the street.
Even then, he found himself walking the same street more often, and for no reason.
Eventually, you caught onto him, after all, Seonghwa didn't know how to be discrete, and his lingering stares were very obvious. At first you were a little scared, but you eventually understood what the intention behind his staring was, as you saw him blush one too many times.
But luck was on his side, as you fell head over heels for him just as quickly as he did for you.
And when he saw the little red strips on the pregnancy test, he finally understood what that happiness feeling everyone talked about felt like. It was as if someone was exploding millions of tiny fireworks inside of him, and that night he fell asleep, holding you and his daughter tightly, with the images of the two of you growing old and watching your daughter grow up in his head.
These pictures flash through his head now, and a man who was once stone-cold allowed himself to shed a tear or two, even though he promised to be strong.
Things don't always go by the book, and a meeting went wrong... Very wrong.
"On your knees!"
Seonghwa complied, and fell down to his knees, looking directly at his wife and now six year old daughter that had hurried in after hearing gun shots.
The man's throat ached, and he wanted to scream, yell, and beg whatever Gods there were for mercy, to let him live, but life isn't always kind.
The tall, buff man put the cold barrel of the gun against Seonghwa's temple, and the future he could have had flashed before his eyes. He closed his eyes for a second, and smiled. He then opened them up, one last time, and looked at the two women that stood in front of him, as one last tear rolled down his cheek.
"When I'm gone just carry on don't mourn, rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice. Just know that, I'm looking down on you smiling, and I didn't feel a thing so baby don't feel no pain just smile back."

You awoke to a bright light, and a painful chill in the air. Groaning, your hands swept across the other half of the bed to find only the blankets, stone cold.
Sitting up, you lazily opened your eyes as best you could, daylight gleaming between your eyelashes and causing you to whine.
“Seong… hwa? Seongie…?” you drawled, hands coming up to your rapidly cooling face. You palm met your near-icy nose and you hummed in dissatisfaction, grimacing as you prepared for the trek downstairs.
The bare pads of your feet met the wooden floorboards that may as well have been crafted out of solid snow, and you hissed at the iciness. Grumbling, you hauled the duvets over your hunched figure, before descending the stairs like a cryptid.
With you head half-covered by a fringe of a quilt and your legs embroidered with the tassels of an ancient blanket, you stumbled waywardly towards the only sounds that could be heard, echoing densely from down the hallway.
When you passed the desktop (garnished with a lace cloth that really didn’t fit the rest of the cabin’s aesthetic) halfway down the corridor, your nose, frozen by the lack of heat, was filled with a sweet, heart-melting scent.
The incense of Christmas.
Cinnamon.
Speeding up your gait, you waddled straight into the kitchen, barging the door open with a padded arm and giving your boyfriend the fright of his life.
“Oh! Good morning b—what in the name of...?”
“Morning!” you greeted briefly, breathing in the warmth and instantaneously forgetting your troubles. “What’re you...?”
“Baking,” Seonghwa replied, straightening his apron as he tilted himself so he could just about catch a glimpse of your face beneath the duvet, “cinnamon rolls—have you got all of the bed covers with you?”
You bowed your body in a ‘yes’.
He grimaced slightly, eyes reflecting a level of disdain that your more chaotic antics often warranted, but his lips were being toyed with by a smile, gently tugging his expression into disdainful and amused bafflement. “Well then, since you actively chose to bring them with you this time—”
“Yeah,” you interjected, “unlike last time where you threw me—!”
“I did not throw you—!”
“Bloody yote me, you did.”
“I?! No, it—! I would still argue that you didn’t even have to bring them then either but...”
You scowled defiantly, not that he could really see with the hood of your duvet slouching right down and nearly to your nose, all while he continued, “...this time you can help me put them all back.”
You sighed, exaggerated and indignant, but he just chuckled.
“Fine,” you groaned, faking impudence, before leaning a bit closer to the bowl.
“Do you want to help?” Your boyfriend’s smile was wide, sunny and heart-warming—just like the rest of him—and so you lifted your duvet tentatively to see more of it. His smile only faltered when your head turned back to the soon-to-be-food and you got a bit too close to where he was mixing. “Yah, be careful!”
“Seong, I’m not going to get the mixture on the blankets, you’re too careful for that!” you giggled, nonetheless pulling the blankets closer to your body.
“Well, if you’re sure.” He handed you a spoon. “If you want to help though, you’re going to need to lose the blankets.”
“And freeze to death? No thanks.”
He shook his head with a laugh, placing the spoon back in its holder. “Well, you’d better go get dressed then. The heating will warm the house up soon enough. I’ve also got something to show you, but it’s outside so…”
A spark of curiosity began to glimmer in your chest. “Oh? What is it?”
“A surprise,” he answered, a small, satisfied smirk on his features, “that you won’t get to find out unless you get dressed.”
You were interested to say the least.
With a bit of jostling, you managed to slip the duvet further down from your head just enough so you could chastely press your lips to his jaw, before waddling away, back up the stairs. “Thank you! I love you so much!”
“You have until these go in the oven!” he called after you, cheeks starting to hurt from how widely he was beaming.
He could still feel the pressure of your lips against his skin, and it set more shivers up his spine than the cold ever did.
.
.
It wasn’t long before the mix had been made, rolled and placed in the encompassed heat of the oven.
Seonghwa pressed the buttons on the timer, eyebrows furrowed, before hanging up his mitts on their hook on the back of the door.
As he opened it again, he was confronted by you, suited up in a thousand layers.
Once again, you witnessed his beautiful dark eyes widen and gorgeously curved lips part to emit a barely audible cry of surprise.
It was satisfying to see the usually calm and collected man break face for a second.
And it was just visually satisfying to see him anyway I mean, look at him.
He did wonder how you’d managed to sneak up so quietly, but looking at the thick fluffy festive socks you wore (over several other pairs), he didn’t find it much of a surprise.
“Aren’t you hot?” he enquired, humoured but slightly worried.
“Of course I am Seonghwa,” you tossed your head dramatically to the side, “you wouldn’t date me otherwise.”
He barely restrained himself from face-palming. “No, I mean—”
“So you don’t think I’m hot then?” you pursed your lips, trying to cover up your teasing smirk. “Ooooh, Hwa you’re in trouble...!”
His eyes widened even more as he guffawed. “That—! That’s not what I meant, you—!”
“I know, I know, relax,” you waved your gloved hand, “and no I’m not, because the heating still isn’t on.”
He frowned, puzzled, and stepped around your marshmallow-like pile of coats and into the corridor.
Instantly, he was met with an iciness that the kitchen’s oven hadn’t managed to permeate.
“Oh.”
The landlord had promised that the cabin’s heating was fine and fully serviced when you decided to rent it out that winter holiday.
You caught onto Seonghwa’s distaste. “Yeah, I know, they lied. The little—”
“Do you mind—”
“No I do not.”
“—lighting a fire?”
“Oh, sure.”
You headed off, along the dingy corridor and into one of the rooms on the left.
Seonghwa suddenly became rather afraid that said-room wasn’t the living room with the hearth.
“Lighting a fire in the fireplace, I mean!” he shouted after you. He turned his back to turn off the kitchen light, and prayed that the movement he saw out of the corner of his eyes was just his imagination, and not you heading out of a room and into another.
He exhaled. Even if you had some chaotic tendencies, and caused him no end of trouble, he wouldn’t trade you for the world.
.
.
Eventually, a fire was lit, and Seonghwa had put on a few more layers.
After strapping up his coat—chic as per usual—he began to unlock the door, while you sat on the stairs, trying to do up your boots.
“Ready to go, little marshmallow?” he threw over his shoulder, not really looking at you, who currently was caught in a predicament.
And this was something in your favour, as it likely saved you no end of shame.
You, at that moment, were straining with your arms outstretched, desperately trying to reach your laces for long enough so you could tie them.
You no doubt looked like an upturned beetle, trying to roll itself back onto its legs.
“Not really,” you huffed, falling back and catching a breath. You could just about reach it, but it was hard work, and it hurt a little bit.
You didn’t like the way Seonghwa’s eyes lit up at that moment.
It was that teasing glint, that mischievous glimmer.
“Aww, can my little marshmallow not quite reach her own little feet?” he cooed.
You told him to shut up, but it only made it worse.
“Awww, does she need some help from her lovely, handsome boyfriend to do her little laces?”
It was at that moment you vowed you would avenge your pride.
And you had the perfect plan.
Through his teasing, your boyfriend did still do up your boots for you, even if you turned your head as he requested a kiss as a thank you.
Instead you slipped past him and beckoned him through the front door.
“You won’t give me a thank you kiss?” he said, pouting.
“Show me this surprise and I may reconsider.”
“Meanie.”
“Love you too babe!”
And you darted out of the doorway and into the cold.
With a sigh, and a laugh, he shook his head and followed after you, into the depths of the winter cold.
.
.
Seonghwa knew he probably should have been looking at the scenery around him, with its trees draped with cascades of white like wedding veils, the tiny robins flitting every now and again between the shallows and summits of the snowy drifts.
But he was instead staring at you, your own eyes entrained on the tiny snowflakes that melted in your gloved palm. Delicate and silent, their minuscule crystals faded into nothing, and you poked at the tiny dabs of water that they left behind, entranced.
This wasn’t what he wanted to show you, but if you were in awe at snowflakes, he knew you would find the next part absolutely astonishing.
“Seongie, are you staring at me again?” you asked, a mischievous tone to your voice.
“How could I not?” he responded.
You curled your lip at his answer, looking up and shaking your head. “Ew.”
“Ew?”
“Yeah, ew.”
“Me?
“Yeah, you.”
He put his hands on his hips, sending you a look that you had dubbed his Mum Stare. “Now listen here Y/N, you should remember that you are beautiful enough to distract your boyfriend from many things, and—”
“Including the path?”
“Yes, including the path, but luckily you haven’t quite distracted me from that just...” he took a glance at his surroundings for reassurance, only to find the fence he’d been following as guidance was nowhere to be found, “...yet.”
You stopped. “We’re lost aren’t we.”
He followed suite, but was laughing anxiously. “We’re not lost don’t worry! I know exactly where we are.”
“Where?”
“Well,” his eyes scoured the trees around him, desperate to pick up a sign, “we are... in a forest. Yes. I know that much.”
You arched your eyebrow. “Oh no.”
“Look, it’s fine, we’ll just retrace our steps and—”
Suddenly, you jerked up a hand and pointed over his shoulder. “Oh Seonghwa, look!”
He spun on his heel, and felt relief wash over him like the waters of a hot shower.
Through a gap in the trees, not too far away, an abnormally large sheet of azure climbed up into the obscurity of the treetops. At its feet, a pool of deeper blue, and, leading down the hill to it, a path that cut a rune in the snow.
“Oh, there it is.”
“Is that the...?” Your laugh puffed a cloud of silver that dissipated as you suddenly took off into a jog. “Come on, let’s go!”
He took off after you, trying to encourage you to be careful and watch your step but it was no use, you were already bounding down the steep hill, disappearing into the frosted bracken.
As you came up to the opening of the trees, your eyes glistened.
You came to the bank of a solid lake, reflecting shields of light from the sun hidden behind the clouds. And, at its furthest point, descending from the broken plateau above, was a huge waterfall, frozen in time by winter’s hands.
“Oh, Seonghwa…!” you whispered, feeling him make the final steps to reach your side.
Gazing at the sheet of blue, even he was stunned.
It was taller than he’d expected, and seemed to trap the smallest glimmers of light in its frozen surface, a jagged cloth of illuminated night sky.
You leant your body into his, resting your head against his shoulder, admiring the spectacle through clouded breath.
“It’s so beautiful...”
“I thought you might like it,” he grinned, bringing an arm around your back to pull you in closer.
“Like it?” you glanced up at him, “I love it! Thank you so much for bringing me here, I’m sorry it took me so long to get out of the house...”
“You know I don’t mind. And that I wouldn’t want you any less difficult.” He pressed a kiss to your exposed temple, before drawing the hem of your bobble hat to cover your bare skin.
You didn’t push off his fussing this time round however, and fulfilled your promise from earlier, standing on tiptoe as best you could in clunky boots and gave him a proper kiss.
“There,” you said, about to continue, but you found yourself at a loss for words. His blushed cheeks and nose, with his determined stare and delighted smile, all made him appear like a snow prince.
His beauty had snatched your voice away.
“Y/N, you better not be staring at me again,” he mimicked, smirking at you.
“Oh shush! Just... go get a photo of the ice-fall, go on!” You ushered him away, closer to the lakeside.
He obeyed happily, drawing his phone from his inside pocket, and striding through the thicker snow with ease, off to get a better view.
Though he didn’t stride fast enough, and he’d taken the bait oh so nicely.
As soon as his back was turned, you scooped up a bundle of snow, as much as you could carry, and chased after him.
The only piece of warning he got was the sound of a flurry of footsteps passing through the snow.
Within seconds, you’d thrown the snow in his hood, and pulled it over his head.
He shrieked, halting in his steps with hands flying to his head to brush off as much of the cold as he could manage.
You attempted to make your escape, turning in the snow and trying to make your way back up the hill.
Only that Seonghwa was much faster than you, and somehow was able to catch you.
Snaking his hands around you waist he pulled you back, but the momentum of your run and his tug collided and knocked the two of you into the snow in a chorus of laughter.
“Nice try, little marshmallow!” he cried, scooping some snow onto your face.
“Hey!”
He chuckled, swooping in to kiss you once again, but you caught his face with your hands.
He tried to wriggle free but you held him still.
“There is no escape!” you declared, smushing his cheeks.
“Even if I ask really nicely?” He mumbled through his pursed lips.
You brushed your nose against his tauntingly. “Try it!”
“Pretty please?” He bat his eyelashes, pulling the best puppy-dog eyes he could.
You didn’t even hesitate.
Both your lips may have been cold, bitten by the air, and you may have been shivering in the cradle of the snow, but his kiss set your skin on fire no less.
This winter would never be the most peaceful of them all, not when you ran rampant.
However, that was the best part of every season, to him, and he wouldn’t change you for the world.

The King wasted no time. After getting you back, he immediately scheduled the coronation, as he couldn't wait to call you his Queen. The Castle was in a frenzy, the sound little frog feet slapping against the marble floors echoed in every division. Seonghwa refused to have the coronation in the same room where he got married, he didn't want to re-live the awful moment when his wife got stolen from him... So the maids and butlers found new decorations, moved the paintings and transformed another one of the King's dark and cold rooms into a place worthy of a welcoming party.
"Let's do it in the throne room. Place her throne by my right." He had said.
The tradition was for the throne to be moved in front of everyone present, so they could witness the changes and their new reality first hand, but Seonghwa was a little tired of following tradition.
You and him stood in the middle of the throne room, with every single maid and butler running around frantically, trying to get everything done on time. You looked on proudly, enjoying the way it was all coming along.
The excess of red and black was gone, it was now balanced with white and gold, and with the new paintings and lights giving the room a new life it looked like a completely new place. The blinds behind the throne were finally opened, revealing the most beautiful stained glass images. There were four people, who you assumed were Seonghwa's family.
You reminisced the first time you had come to that room, panting and confused, standing in the dark, cold room being judged by the merciless man Seonghwa once was. The contrast was almost unbelievable, but you were glad you had gotten this far.
You felt a pair of arms wrap around your figure and a chin on your shoulder.
"I'll have it replaced. First, just the two of us, and then, once we have our little prince, or princess," he paused, caressing your stomach, where you'd carry your future child "I'll have it replaced once more, with a full picture of our family."
He kissed your cheek and you smiled.
"But Seonghwa, are you sure you wanna take down the picture of your family?" You questioned, feeling honoured yet a little wrong, replacing the original King and Queen.
He stood straight, and his cheerful expression was immediately replaced by one of pain and confusion, remembering all of the memories alongside those people.
"Why not? They have given me nothing but a lifetime of suffering, you have given me nothing but happiness and a chance of redemption. You deserve to be up there, immortalized, as a part of the new Royal family."
"Thank you..."
That was all you could say, as there were no words that could possibly describe how you felt.
One of the maids stole you away from your husband for a second, so you could change from the dirty, ripped-up wedding dress for the new ceremony. She helped you switch to a princess-style dress, all in red silk. The revealing heart-shaped neckline was covered with black lace, that extended all the way to your hands and wrapped around your index finger.
"You look lovely, Miss." The maid said as she fixed your hair.
You thanked her with a small smile and headed towards the throne room. Usually, it would be packed with people, but due to the previous altercation, the only people attending the coronation would be the castle staff, aside from the knights who were assigned to protect the castle during the event.
You carefully sat on the throne, feeling Seonghwa's eyes (or... eye) inspecting you. He leaned over, so he could whisper in your ear.
"You look marvelous in red."
He sat back straight in his throne and smiled at your shy expression. A tall man soon entered the room holding two boxes. He opened one of the boxes and slowly (and carefully) placed the crown on the King's head. It was exaggerated, yet classy and sophisticated like Seonghwa. You could tell it had been specially done for him.
"We shall now begin the coronation of Miss Y/N." The man announced.
He opened the box in front of you, revealing the most beautiful, victorian crown. It was made up of white gold and adorned with the most beautiful red and white stones.
"I hereby declare, by the powers given to me by His majesty Park Seonghwa, the new Queen of Wonderland, Queen Y/N."
The man slowly placed the crown on your head, and it was a perfect fit. He stepped away so the painter could see your smiling faces, as he immortalized the moment on a canvas.
The castle staff smiled and cheered for you, their new Queen.
"Bring her!" The King shouted, and the whole room froze.
The thought on everyone's mind was 'Who's her'.
The heavy doors to the room opened, and a chained woman, dressed in a black cape with her white, disheveled hair showing stepped in, with the help of two guards.
"Unchain her."
The guards obeyed the King, and unchained the woman, who rotated her wrists with a sigh of contentment.
"Finally, what do I owe the honour, Sir?"
The crowd in front of you looked on, petrified. Who the fuck was she?
"Undo the room." Seonghwa commanded.
"Hm there have been some changes, I see." The woman said, her voice cracking mid-sentence.
She looked at you, with her bright purple eyes, sending a shiver down my spine.
"Yes, there have. Now please do as I asked."
"Very well Sir."
The woman removed her black cape, revealing a small, crooked young-looking woman. She lifted her hands in the air, creating a small green fog in her hands, that she aimed at all beings in the room. The people, who were previously humanoid frogs, were turned back into their original form. Tears of happiness formed in everyone's eyes and cries of thankfulness echoed in the room. One maid approached you and knelt by your feet.
"Thank you... Thank you so much!"
You recognized the voice, it was the maid that had thanked you the other day for staying with Seonghwa, and the one that usually helped you dress. You smiled and held her hands.
"No need to kneel around me Miss, thank you for your hard work."
She bowed to you as she walked back to cheer with her peers.
Seonghwa stood up and held out his hand for you to take, and so you followed.
"Iracebeth, follow us. You two," the King said, looking at the two guards who had brought the witch "make sure everyone is gathered at the town center by the time we arrive."
The guards nodded and immediately headed out. Seonghwa took your arm and started walking with you, headed to the town center, you guessed.
You looked behind you to look at the witch, that stared at you with a sinister expression.
"Are you sure it's safe to bring her along, won't she like... curse you? You know, for keeping her locked up?" You whispered.
"Oh, no that won't be an issue."
You tilted your head to the side.
"How come?"
Seonghwa blushed, embarrassed to recall what he had done.
"Well, I tricked her into falling in love with me so I could get her to cast a spell on herself that would only allow her to cast the spells I request her to. I then locked her in the dungeon because I didn't want to deal with her constant crying and blabbering about how I tricked her, that's probably why she's looking at you like..." He glanced over at the witch "... like that."
You hit his arm.
"Park Seonghwa!"
"Ow! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I regret doing it but if I undo it now it could have severe consequences, not only for me but for you too. And we can't have that."
You sighed and nodded. It's true that it was cruel, but you didn't want any consequences headed your way, you'd had enough.
You stopped in front of a black and gold carriage, the one that would take you into town. Seonghwa helped you get on and then sat beside you. The witch rode in front of you, her creepy smile and envious eyes staring into your soul the whole ride. Seonghwa held your hand tightly, also feeling uneasy by her presence.
"We're here, Sir."
Seonghwa took a deep breath. You could tell he was nervous, as all of the people from the Kingdom looked at the carriage, expectantly. You kissed his cheek and held his hand tighter.
"It will be okay." You assured him.
Seonghwa smiled softly and exited the carriage, alongside you and the witch. The expressions of the people once they saw the witch were the same as back in the castle, and they braced for the worst.
The King said nothing, he only turned to the witch and said 'do it'.
Once more, she cast the spell, that supposedly returned them to what they once were, but it didn't go as planned. Some people returned to their original state, but the ones who had turned from animals to humans, not so much... Some had the luck of being completely turned back to who they were, others were left hybrids, mixes of animals and humans. You found Cheshire, still as a human, happily playing with his ears and tail, and Haiga, the Hare, jumping about with his hare feet about the return of his long ears. It didn't take much for those two to be happy. There was a mix of emotions among the crowd, however, some people that had married into families who were previously human, were happy they got some of their old life back and they would still be able to maintain their relationship, others were sad (and mad) that they would never be able to return to whom they once were.
"What happened!?" Seonghwa whisper-yelled to the witch.
"The curse has been cast for far too long, I wasn't able to undo it completely." She explained, ashamed of her own skills.
"People, I apologize," as soon as he spoke those words the commotion calmed down, and everyone seemed shocked. The King? Apologizing? "it seems the curse has gone on for too long and is irreversible in some cases. I ask that whoever has been affected attends the castle tomorrow so I can offer a proper compensation for all of the damages caused, that would be all."

"Teach you what?"
"How to be a better man, how to have mercy, and compassion."
Unbeknownst to you, a little purple and pink cat watched every step you took. Of course, it wasn't because he cared. Cheshire (unlike many other Wonderland villagers) genuinely wasn't affected by your presence, or lack there of, but the Hatter had asked him, in exchange of a hefty reward, of course, to keep an eye on his beloved Y/N.
While watching over you Cheshire just did a whole bunch of growling and nose scrunching. He hated the sight of the King, and even worse, was the sight of such a man in love.
"Such a shame to be the bearer of bad news dear friend," Cheshire said, not at bothered by the fact that he had bad news to tell "but it seems as if Y/N will be our new Queen."
The cat twirled a strand of his coloured hair around his index finger, as he fell down onto one of the many chairs along with the Hatter's never-ending table.
The Hatter's eyes widened and so did his toothy smile.
"She's carrying on with the plan! She will decapitate him herself and become our Queen! Oh but I'm so happy I could dance the Futterwacken again!"
He clapped feverously and suggested a toast, clearly missing the meaning of Cheshire's words.
"I'm afraid you missed what I meant, Hatter. She will be our Queen, because she will be marrying the King."
The atmosphere suddenly became silent, eerie even. The Hatter's green, sparkly eyes transformed into an ugly, rage-filled, yellow. The man gripped the teacup on his hand so hard it broke, but the rage, disappointment, and growing heartbreak fogged his brain to the point where he didn't even notice the pain, nor the blood trickling down his palm.
The Hatter was rarely angry, but when he was, it was enough to scare poor Cheshire, who didn't hesitate in disappearing into thin air. Or he tried to. Before every bit of his body could be gone, the Hatter grabbed Cheshire's hair, making the cat groan in pain, and threw him on the ground.
"What has he done to her!? Was it a curse!?"
Cheshire caressed his head and stood up to look at the Hatter.
"It wasn't a curse Hatter, she fell in love. After you deceived her and the King showed her nothing but truth and love, the choice was pretty evident."
The reasonable explanation seemed to calm down the Hatter, whose eyes morphed back into their greenish colour. However the dread and panic in his face were still evident. Cheshire, still quite upset at Hatter's tantrum, could see on his friend's face an expression of someone about to spew a terrible, terrible idea.
"We must get her away from the Palace. It's gotten into her head. Let's get her back to us!"
The man-like cat floated back to his usual place in the air, twirling in the process. He chuckled audibly, showing his sharp canines in the process.
"Hmm yes, let's steal her away from the man she's come to love, so she could be with us, the people who lied to her for our own benefit. Sounds like a party if you ask me..."
"A party!?" Haigha exclaimed, his left eye twitching as he smiled widely at the mention of his favourite hobbie.
"That's where the King's behaviour comes in our favour," the Hatter said, patting Haigha's head so he'd sit back down "once he sees her take her beloved Queen away, he will show his true colours, Remember how scared and freaked out she was last time we saw her? She said he seemed really sweet while talking to her until he eventually snapped. Once he snaps, he will freak out and bring out the tyrant's behaviour and scare her away."
It was hard for Cheshire to admit, but his mad friend's plan wasn't so mad after all. It was possible to accomplish what the Hatter suggested, and there was nothing to lose, you already hated them anyway.
The Hatter slapped his thighs and stood up, fixing his big top hat in the process.
"Shall we go?"
Haigha was already standing up from his seat when Cheshire stopped them.
"Perhaps we should discuss the plan further... Something tells me we might need some help from Absolem and Bayard..."
Sneaking you out past the Card Knights would take a lot of help, and Cheshire had already worked out in his head the escape plan. It would take a little pressure on Absolem, as he managed to care even less about the people around him than Cheshire did, but the cat was sure he could get a shrinking cake out of the blue catterpillar. After shrinking you and hatter down to the size of a strawberry, Bayard (the loyal dog friend of Hatter's, that Cheshire tried his best to keep a distance of) would bring you to the White Rabbit's house, as it would be too obvious to come back to the Hatter's cabin.
The cat had no intention to help you, but he did like to see some drama and commotion in Wonderland once in a while, and this was his chance.
Whilst all of the furious planning went on on the greenlands of Wonderland, in the Palace you and the King sat opposite of each other on his bed, gossiping like two high schoolers.
"And then my best friend at the time, Anna, slept with my boyfriend and said it was 'because of a dare'. I forgave her because we had been friends for so long but then she told my crush that I smelled so I stopped being her friend."
The King nodded along and listened attentively (trying his best to cross his legs just like you, but failing miserably) to your story.
"Hm yes, yes, I understand. My best friend ate one of my tarts so I cut off his head."
You couldn't help but scoff at the way he compared the situations, although you reprehended him right after for the heartless act.
He had asked to know of your previous life, how it was back in your world, and so you sat there reminiscing your past for hours on end. Most people in Wonderland came from other places, but Seonghwa had never been elsewhere, as he was born in the Kingdom.
"So this establishment you call 'school', was it like a club you went to where you reunited with your peers?"
"No, no. School was a mandatory thing for all kids, we went there and a bunch of teachers taught us about different things."
"Hm, but all you've told me so far were anecdotes about these friends of yours, what were these classes like?"
You blushed slightly, realizing that in fact, you didn't remember shit from school, aside from past dramas.
"Well, they told us many things about earth, about what makes the world move, about how society works, and what makes things work. We learned about gravity, about numbers, about stars-"
"Stars!?"
The King's eyes lit up as if he was a child whom you had promised ice cream to.
"Yes, stars. Why?"
Seonghwa stood up from the bed in such a violent manner, he nearly fell. The man ran over to his closet, from where he retrieved an old book. The hard cover was beginning to tear, and the once white pages had become a weird mix of brown and yellow, but you took it in your hands nevertheless.
"This book once fell into the Wonderland when I was a child. I was alone most of the time, so it kept me company. I can tell from the images it talks about the stars, and I think I learned a lot from it since I stared at them a lot, but I cannot comprehend the alien language."
The King leaned against the headboard, and you laid beside him, placing your head on his chest, so you could hear his now nervous heart beating fast from the contact. Out of instinct, the King placed his arm around you and pulled you closer, as you opened the book.
You chuckled slightly, after seeing the author of the book and opening its pages.
"Seonghwa this isn't an alien language, it's Italian. Well, I guess it's an alien language to you, but it was funny that you said it that way... The person who wrote it was very influential back where I'm from, he taught the people of Earth many things about our space."
The male listened carefully as you tried your best to explain the things in the book as best as you could.
"This here is what we call the Solar System. It has nine planets, but only one of them has people, this one, where I live." You told him, pointing towards Earth.
Seonghwa noticed how your posture changed, after you remembered once more that you would never return home again, and panicked for a second. He disliked many things, but your tears had definitely gone up to his number 1 on the list.
"How about I ask for a picnic to be arranged in the garden, and at night we can watch the stars."
You turned to face him and smiled as you nodded. Seonghwa's thumb caressed your arm, and you couldn't help but to place a soft kiss on his lips, as a 'thank you'. No matter how many times you did that, the King never seemed to get used to it. He would always feel butterflies in his stomach and fireworks exploding on his chest. Sometimes you felt perverted, thinking of how he'd react if one day you decided to take it... further. You imagined how pretty he'd look... But you decided to take your time. Baby steps...
The King couldn't wait for dinner time, and you could tell from the number of times he had gone up to the window and pushed away the blinds to see if the sun was finally setting.
As he was staring out the window, you came behind him and wrapped your arms around his figure.
"Can I tell you a secret?"
Seonghwa looked around, to make sure no one was nearby eavesdropping. He wouldn't want your secret to being known.
You tiptoed so your lips could be leveled with his ear.
"You're adorable."
Once you got back down and looked into his gleeful eyes, you smiled.
"Let's keep this secret between us!" He joked along.
"Yes, I wouldn't want the other ladies to know and steal you away."
Seonghwa held your face and lovingly placed a kiss on your forehead.
"The other ladies don't stand a chance next to you princess."
Your cheeks heated up and you slapped his chest out of embarrassment. The King's face grew worried and confused.
"Why did you hit me? Have I done something wrong? It was meant to be a compliment I'm sorry I compared you to-"
You grabbed his face and squished his cheeks, making him form an adorable pout with his red lips.
"Seonghwa, it was a good thing. I slapped your chest because I was embarrassed, I was really touched by your compliment."
Once you let go of his face, the King tapped his chin with his index finger, in a pensive manner.
"I have much to learn about our future interactions, I do not understand many things."
You just chuckled and took his hand in yours.
"We have many years ahead of us, you will learn someday."
The small acknowledgment of your future made Seonghwa very happy. Never in his pitiful life had he even thought of being this happy over small actions... Last week the only thing that brought him joy was the sound of a traitor's head hitting the concrete floors of the palace's main area, but since you arrived, a smile was all it took for his cold heart to start beating again.
It didn't take long before one of the frogmen knocked on the door to inform the picnic was ready. Seonghwa didn't let go of your hand as you walked outside, to sit among the red roses.
You had finally come to terms with Wonderland's weird food. You had no choice really...
"Have you never been attracted to anyone, Seonghwa?" You asked as you munched down on a sandwich of... whatever it was.
Seonghwa's expression faded a little.
"Once. I had just become King and I thought that the next step would, logically, be the find a Queen. Every woman displeased me. All but one. She was beautiful, hair as dark as the night sky, tanned skin from the sun, and a beautiful mole under the eye. But she was cold, evil... I thought that it was a perfect match. After all, I wasn't the most caring person. But she would treat me like a servant. Our relationship was purely to serve a purpose to the Kingdom, nothing else. We slept in separate rooms and spent the day apart. We only dined together, but since I saw the same behavior from my parents I thought that that was love. Our wedding had been scheduled long before she moved into the castle, we were simply waiting for the preparations to be finished. Everything was custom made, from the clothes to the flowers on every table. The day before the wedding I walked to her bedroom and found her laying with a servant of mine. You know, back when they weren't... Frogs. I had them both decapitated, of course. And I swore off love forever. That is until you came along."
You flashed him a sad smile and set down your food. He looked awfully confused as you climbed onto his lap, but he didn't protest.
You brushed his dark hair away from his eyes. Both of them. He suddenly felt very exposed and insecure, but you kissed his cheek, reassuringly.
"Ever since I came down here you've shown me nothing but love, and honesty. You didn't try to sugarcoat who you are, or what you've done, and I appreciate your honesty. My place in Wonderland is with you."
The male smiled, and kissed you, a little more passionately than all of the previous times. The male's hands trailed down your ass, and pulled you on top of his growing erection.
"For someone who has never been with anyone you're quite good at this."
"Well I... I lied. I had a fiancé after all, and we laid together but we didn't get far. There was no kissing involved, she just wanted to get it over with since I was the one who suggested we should... do it. But she made fun of me for not being good at it and I became... insecure. I was insecure and for the longest time I've wanted to try it with you, because you give me those special butterflies but I was afraid I'd disappoint you."
"What a cold, heartless bitch!" You thought to yourself. No wonder he was so bad at human interactions, every relationship he had was a trainwreck!
You grabbed his face and placed a long kiss on his lips.
"Well then, let me lead at first. If you start feeling more confident, you can take the lead, if not, I'll stay in control, okay?"
The King simply nodded and kissed you once more. This time deeper than he had ever kissed anyone. Tongues fighting so intensely the King nearly missed the way your hand expediently undid his trousers. Your hand slipped inside his boxers and took out his length. You looked down at the dick in your hand and widened your eye.
"Well aren't I a lucky girl."
You spat in your hand and kissed him again, as your hand worked up and down his shaft. The King was surprisingly very vocal, and he didn't try to hide or suppress any of his pretty moans (and for that you were thankful.
You stopped your hand, right as he was getting riled up.
"Ready for something better?"
The King watched you strip from your panties, and he cursed the frilly dress that covered your womanhood, but as soon as you sunk down on his cock, all of his worries and anguishes washed away. It was automatic, the way he gripped your hips and made you bounce on him as he snapped your hips against yours was something he did naturally as if he truly knew what he was doing. You brought out something different in him, and the King was simply doing was his body was telling him to do.
You gripped his shoulders, overwhelmed with the feeling of having him inside you.
He flipped you two around, so he could pound into you with all the strength he had. Your words of encouragement were all he needed.
Your consistent (and loud) moans got him on the edge quickly, and he knew he wouldn't last long.
"Y/N forgive me, but I don't think I can last much longer."
Your hand reached down and began circling your clit, so when he came inside you, filling you up with his cum, you came right after, with a loud cry for his name.
Seonghwa laid on top of you, his face nuzzled on the crook of your neck, trying to regain his breath. You ran your hand through his hair as you did the same, looking up at the sky.
