Treasure

After securing Jamaica Plain as a settlement for the Minutemen, Nate decides to check the rumors about its treasure beneath the town hall. Bringing along Preston, MacCready, Danse, Dogmeat, and most importantly, Piper, they manage to get into the basement of the town hall...

"Alright, that's the last trip laser, you can all come now !" Nate announced down the hall. Preston released Dogmeat, who couldn't stay in place anymore and immediatly rushed to Nate while the others followed. "You know, I was skeptical about that whole treasure story, MacCready commented, but with so many trip lasers, there has to be something really valuable in there to protect." Danse drew his laser rifle, anticipating any other eventual trap ahead. "Whatever it is, I hope it can be useful." he said in his usual monotone voice.

The only thing seperating them from the treasure was now a button opening up 2 doors in front of it. Nate readies himself to push the button once everyone else was in place. "Alright, here goes nothing..." He says as he pushes the button. Piper was the most excited about this, having brought the working camera Nate brought back from the Institute and gifted her. "And now, the story of a lifetime, she says excitedly, the fabled treasure of Jamaica- Oh..." Her excitement went down in a heartbeat as the group discovers what's actually behind the doors.

The room had tables set up in each corner and in the middle, displaying pre war relics of multiple domains, such as sports, medicine, literature or arts. Quite the unique take on the word "treasure". This was quite an amusing situation, especially for Preston. "This is the treasure ? he exclaims. Haha, that's perfect. Oh man, perfect !" He then bursts laughing, soon joined by MacCready. "Come on...it's almost too funny not to laugh about !" Danse had a different outlook on the situation. "Pre-war artifacts are more valuable than treasure. They give us glimpses at moments in time that will never repeat." His words rang through Nate's mind, having lived in that time. For him, that time capsule represented a part of his old life...

Although she couldn't hide her disapointement at the "treasure" not matching her expectations, Piper still felt it was important to document it. She took notes and photos of the different displays before the group headed out. There was something comforting her from this though : throughout all the time they spent in the time capsule, Nate had a smile in the corner of his lips. And for some reason, it made her feel warm in her chest. In the weeks following the Institute's fall, she became much closer to the general of the Minutemen. And since she never felt like this with anyone else before, she had troubles dealing with her feelings.

Once outside the town hall, while the others were packing their things to return to the Castle, Nate approached Piper. "Well, at least it wasn't some metaphorical 'the real treasure is you' nonsense." He said, even mimicking her mocking tone from earlier. This did get a chuckle out of her. "Look, don't get any wrong idea, I'm gald you were happy to see some pre war stuff down there. It's just... I guess I set the bar too high..." Seeing her frown made Nate feel bad. "If that makes you feel better, I'm seeing a true, wonderful treasure right there..." he comforts her, holding her chin, which makes her blush furiously. "Aw, Blue..."

I know at this point it's extremely delusional of me to think of anything else added to megumi's character arc especially with 3 chapters left but I wonder if his identity crisis will ever be resolved. I just can't stomach the fact that 268 is the complete resolution of his character no matter what. too much is left unsaid and unexplored about him that it just feels underwhelming and disappointing.

back to my identity crisis point, megumi had a weak sense of self from the start, that's why he was a relatively weak jujutsu sorcerer, compared to his "potential" anyway.

his sense of self revolved around his sister and his technique. back then, if you were to ask "who is fushiguro megumi?" (most) of the characters in the series would probably say "a 10 Shadows user", and if you asked megumi himself who he is, he wouldn't have given you a solid answer. he didn't have trust in his strength or his capabilities then.

he viewed his only purpose in life to provide his sister happiness, that's why he took the deal with Gojo. and when she got into a coma, his purpose then was to try to balance the scales of the universe by saving good people like her, along with fulfilling his end of the deal with Gojo and becoming a jujutsu sorcerer and training his technique.

CH. 58 strengthens his resolve a bit, With gojo's words of "Be Greedier" and "it's okay to be selfish!" which made him embrace his technique if even for a moment rather than viewing it as a shackle.

that's why I said in an earlier post that his domain isn't just a feat to boost him, it's a representation of his character and especially his sense of self. his domain was still incomplete because his sense of self was still missing. he was still an incomplete character, he hadn't reached self-discovery yet.

The entire time, Megumi is presented with the question: who are you? and he grapples with this question via his attempts at wrangling his technique (per Gojo's deal with him, his attempts at trying to save tsumiki (since that was his goal since the start of the series and the thing he thought was his life purpose since the start), and his attempts at trying to save yuuji (which is something he viewed as a new goal now to focus on since he viewed himself responsible for Sukuna because he chose to save yuuji). his identity always was surrounded by these three things, but it was never about him. he was never a part of the equation. he viewed himself as collateral, expendable, that's why even in his ideal world, he never imagines himself walking beside yuuji and tsumiki.

and then Sukuna took over his body, and made him lose his sense of self completely via the bath, and then metaphorically dug his nails into the wound by taking away all that he lived for and surrounded his identity with (tsumiki, his technique, seperated him completely from yuuji)

and so, megumi, now having lost everything that made him him was presented with the question again: who are you? Without your technique, without your only purpose of trying to save good people like Tsumiki and Yuuji, what makes up the shape of Fushiguro Megumi's soul? What is it composed of?

Yuuji's speech tells you of the value of a life:

he would tell you that the human soul is composed of tiny fragments, memories, experiences, the small things in life that come together to make up the shape of the soul.

But the problem is Megumi never reached this point. He never had this epiphany. He most likely wasn't even present in this conversation, since yuuji's domain targeted sukuna's soul only.

And those are just yuuji's words, even if megumi were to hear him, he'd just be hand held through his own character development that he should reach on his own.

That's why I'm not satisfied with the resolution of Megumi living for Yuuji, because it doesn't resolve his identity crisis. he doesn't regain his sense of self back by making it about himself, he still falls into the earlier pitfall of making his identity depend on one person. again. which was what doomed him in the first place. he still doesn't answer the question: who are you? Who is Fushiguro Megumi?

that bath and being submerged could've been the perfect opportunity for him to figure out who he actually is without his technique, without his sister, without anyone to depend on, when he has nothing but his soul to accompany him, but I guess sukuna running the gauntlet against the entire verse with random battle shonen jargon and power ups and plot devices was more important than trying to flesh out your deuteragonist or give him any sort of character development beyond just being a plot device.

This is gonna sound like a bit of a nonsequitur, but seeing Krauss and Rudolf's lapels next to each other made me notice their eagles are going in different directions. Like two seperate halves of a whole.

I wonder if that means anything.

Right Half(13 people - 17 eagles): Kinzo(x3), Rudolf(x2), George(x1), Rosa(x1), Maria(x1), Genji(x1), Shannon(x1), Kanon(x1), The Goats(x1), The Sisters of Purgatory(x1), Grey-haired Beatrice(x1), Beatrice's Dress(x3+)

With Kinzo and Beatrice having so many eagles, and all the furniture having exactly 1, I'm almost tempted to say the number of eagles is a measure of rank. This is also the largest category by far.

Left Half(2 people - 2 eagles): Jessica(x1), Battler(x1)

I don't know of any official category that's just the two of them. Maybe the direction doesn't mean anything.

Both Halves(2 people, 6 eagles): Eva(left on her dress(x3+), right on her tattoo(x1)), Krauss(right on his jacket(x1), left on his shirt(x1))

But if more eagles = higher rank, Eva would be the highest ranking person on the island, and that's obviously wrong. Maybe it's... how much someone wants to prove their dedication to the family?

Hypothetically, maybe it's symbolic. Jessica, Battler, Eva, and Krauss are the only four people who.... what? I don't know what they have in common. They all rebel against authority but I can't imagine getting an official symbol for that. Last time, Mion had a purely symbolic gun, so maybe these outfits shouldn't be taken literally. Perhaps Krauss and Eva have grown up enough that they want to rebel but can pass for loyal right-eagle wearers when they need to.

Whole Eagle(2 people, 2 eagles): Beatrice's thigh tattoo(x1), Possibly Ronove(x1)

Worth noting that Ronove's eagle is obscured enough that it could possibly just be a right half. Two wings allows for independent flight, and they both have their own domains unrelated to the Ushiromiyas. he definitely seems to be Beatrice's favorite servant. There's plenty to connect them.

No Eagle(9 people - 0 eagles): Nanjo, Gohda, Kumasawa, Natsuhi, Hideyoshi, Kyrie, Young Eva, George(casual clothes), Shannon(casual clothes)

This one's simple enough. No eagles unless you're dressed up for official family business. The one interesting thing is that Eva had no eagles on her outfit in the nightmare where she was arguing with Krauss. We didn't get a good look at Krauss's outfit, but Kinzo definitely had an eagle.

Other variations:

There's a lot of minor variations in proportions and details, but if those mean anything, pretty much everyone is unique. For now I'll keep it pretty simple. left half with detached tail - Rosa (x1)

This one's so weird that it makes me wonder if the variations might not mean anything.

right half with complete tail - Jessica(x1) & Grey Hair Beatrice(x1)

odd. don't think there's anything to suggest a connection between these two. It is definitely interesting that the symbol existed back when Beatrice was a little girl. That means it predates Kinzo. Also, it's clearly inspired by a reichsadler, which is definitely not typical japanese heraldly. Seems like he's borrowing Beatrice's family crest. I wonder what the Ushiromiya heraldry used to be.

Big Swirly left halves - Eva and Beatrice's Dresses( x3+)

if these eagles mean ANYTHING, this connection has to mean something. only two women with dresses covered in big swirly eagles.

Tattoos - Eva & Shannon(x1)

Well, Shannon's a magical construct. Maybe it's not surprising that she has the symbol of her creator on her body. But I don't know about Eva.

Hmm. but if we ignore the shape, the numbers are fairly straightforward:

4 - Eva & Beatrice in her dress(counting the tattoo that would be hidden by her clothes)

3 - Kinzo

2 - Krauss, Rudolf

1 - everyone else, including Beatrice in her miniskirt.

0 - Kumasawa, Nanjo and Gohda, all the spouses, and young Eva for some reason.

However you look at it, Eva's definitely an outlier. If you ignore her, this is almost a direct ranking of authority in the family.

Maybe it represents Eva trying to really overcommit and prove how extremely dedicated she is, and overcome a previous total lack of respect?

hes so silly I love him so much and he doesn't even have an actual name yet 😭 I've had this guy rotting my mind since December when I last hyperfixated on mha and decided to finally give him an overhaul (hehe) and actually design him

Im about to start blabbering about his quirk and story so if you want to hear more just go ahead and read but be warned!1!1!!

His hero name is the Energy Hero: Starboy and his quirk is Light Energy Manipulation. He's able to manipulate light energy from the sun & other light sources, all having different effects when in use. As he uses his quirk more and more, his hair slowly starts turning more white. When he uses his ability his white hair also shines iridescent, like a rainbow.

His horns and tail come from his father, who had a quirk that simply gave him horns, a tail, and manipulation of his own energy. His mother had a quirk that would make her hair light up and glow like the sun - but thats all he was told by his adoptive parents, as he was abandoned alone on the street with no memory when he was five years old. He was told that his father was murdered, and his mother was missing, so he devotes himself to heroism in order to make sure nobody else leaves children and family alone of the street to defend for themselves.

Energy from the sun & stars: gives him his basic fighting style, which is creating waves, shields, weapons, transportation, and all around general use. Its similar to Denki's, but only a bit. If denki was able to refine and control his quirk w/out the use of support items, he'd be exactly like my oc lol.

He later figures out that energy from the sun & stars gives him a new ability as part of his Quirk Awakening: Lightspeed - this ability gives him the ability to move his position in time. There's two versions of this ability, Red Shift and Blue Shift - they rewind him and fast forward him respective to the color shift they match. Also it isn't time travel, its more just like??? If he fell off a building facing one way, when he uses lightspeed to rewind himself, he can move freely during his way back up, but he's still moving upwards??? Like he can turn around and face the way he wasn't before??? Hope that explains it. He can also use this ability on objects and people that he touches, but only for the duration of this ability in use.

This ability also has heavy drawbacks on him, and he regularly suffers from nosebleeds, head aches, and tremors after he uses it (he almost died from a nosebleed in class once bc Aizawa was tired of him leaving to go to the nurses. He never made him stay in class again lol). Similarly, is he uses this ability on other people more that regularly, they suffer the same conditions, just lessened. The first time he uses this power, his body is rewound an entire day as part of his drawbacks, but his body being rewound rarely happens after her begins to train with this power.

Energy from UV: He can turn invisible and things he touches invisible, kind of like Violet from the Incredibles. This ability is primarily used as an ultimate move.

Energy from Incandescent Light: sort of electric-like, similar to denki's, but he uses it less because its for difficult to harness and get enough incandescent energy for use. Also, incandescent energy is regularly mixed with his sun energy, so its kind of useless to try and seperate it.

He is involved with any arc involving the whole/most of the class like the USJ and Sports Fesival arcs. He is also involved with the Stain and Shie Hassaikai arcs, and maybe more as I continue to rewatch the show. He also plays a supporting role in the Two Heroes movie, and his own arc that happens because why wouldn't i give my main mha oc his own arc??? What???

During said Starboy arc, he has some shenanigans with a villain who basically has a quirk similar to (what i know of with my limited jjk knowledge) domain expansions. Also iida is a big part of this arc too bc he's my fav character why wouldn't i involve him in my main oc's arc??? What??? Anyways, Starboy and Iida literally dance to beat this villain lol. Also Starboy almost levels a 10th of a city ❤ After that, his right (your left) eye is permanently in a sunburst shape and he is semi-partially blind. He also has sunburst-like scars on his hands and forearms after this battle. His original character design had ties to AFO and stuff, but he was WAYYY to plot relevant and could've lowkey replaced Deku with his backstory alone lmao.

He's closest with Iida, Kirishima, Kamanari, and Sero. He's also pretty close with Shoji, Tokoyami, Ojiro, Hakegure, and Mina, but not as close as the aforementioned four.

As for class, we have four potential options

Two varieties of Paladin, cleric, or warlock

First paladin variety- Oathbreaker

In this case he was probably originally Devotion before the revolution, and whoops! Oath Broken!

It'd either be a point of pride for him ("I fought for what I believe is right, and there is no shame in that") or he'd hide it from everyone

Second paladin- order of the Crown! obviously because of Diavlo. fellas is it gay to swear undying devotion to your future ki- *gets shot*

Cleric, then Order Domain. clerics are sworn to gods and not demons but shush his patron might still be Diavlo. in an actual D&D setting i can see him instead swearing to like Tyr or something.

he wont be healing. clerics are tanky he's out here ordering people to drop their weapons and then fucking murdering them

Warlock, gotta be fiend patron. im not sure if its possible to be your own patron but itd be funny as shit. worse case its fiend patron with some flavor homebrew as i call it to literally just be a fiend in his own right climbing the infernal ladder as he levels up

Mammon

Earth Genasi as those are descended from the Dao, which are the greediest genie. Also, they just look rich with gem-like stuff growing in cracks on their skin you just know Mammon's one of them

Charlatan background. he is scamming people left and right and it works

Rogue, thief subclass. Honestly any subclass other than Arcane Trickster (hes not smart enough) or Scout (hes not equipped for the "outside of civilization" shit)

Unlike for Lucifer, the others have Backstory! Woo!

Mammon is the son of a Dao and a human. His human parent helped him escape from the Elemental Plane of Earth, but then he was left on his own

So. He quickly learned how to con people. At first it was for survival, and then greed.

He found Lucifer while running one of these cons. In particular, his "con" was a vanishing act. He claimed he could become "one with the earth" when really he was curling up on the ground and casting Pass Without Trace. Lucifer saw through this illusion and threatened to out Mammon as a conman, unless he joined him as his ally. So, he did.

Lucifer keeps him in check, but that's not to say Mammon isn't fully on the straight and narrow

actually i will- Totem animal, spirit of the bear. Since bear gets resistance to all damage (other than psychic) while raging and i feel that works with Beel more than anything

now for his backstory! he isnt canon in the campaign im playing belphie in but his backstory has the same catalyst. When he was five years old, the kingdom he lived in was caught in a rebellion against a tyrant. In which, Beel saw his older sister get killed by a royal guard. Belphie was going to be killed- but was protected by a tiefling in a knight's armor (my previous character who was killed. rip avi)

Beel, in his five-year-old mind, just ran. He took off without a second thought- a decision he now regrets deeply.

He ran into the surrounding woodlands. And gets an Atalanta-style backstory. For those who dont know, Atalanta was a princess who was abandoned in the woods and raised by bears

So Beel is raised by bears. Which is way better than being raised by wolves

They teach him how to hunt, gather, and its all well and cute. He sometimes entered the rebuilding kingdom to trade in leftover meat for clothes and weapons- and, to try and find Belphie. No luck.

Eventually, Beel grows to be a powerful warrior. Hangry, sure, but his rage hold the rage of freaking bears. so keep him fed. please.

Anyways Lucifer and the gang (everyone minus belphie) encounter Beel in the woods, watching the cubs. Beel agrees to adventure with them. He says goodbye to bear mom and promises to visit- hopefully, with his twin, next time.

Currently n the campaign im in we're level 5, so his two wildshapes are wolf, and a bull. But he also has his three starry forms due to being circle of stars.

he's saved by my previous dnd character- Avi- and is taken in by him and his husband when the rebellion was over.

Except. due to seeing his sister die and not seeing his twin after that, Belphie assumed the worse and thought that Beel also died and he was the last one of his family

He fell into a pretty deep depression and had no motivation to do anything besides sleep, cry, and eat very tiny portions of meals.

eventually his adoptive dads start telling him stories. and. surprisingly. they seem to help! Belphie is still a shrinking violet but he eats more and can cook and do basic chores!

And Then Avi Goes Missing

His husband- Skull- asks the now 11 year old Belphie if he wants to come along to find him. Belphie declines, saying he needs to get in control of his life and some big quest is probably just gonna leave him with more trauma

Skull lets him stay home, and gives him one of his feathers. So if Belphie ever needs a hand, he can call Skull over and. well. have one of his dads at least

For five years, Belphie took to studying druidcraft, and the stars. He also enchanted his favorite pillow to float and be able to carry him. So he had a little more comfort when going out to buy groceries. He'd make detailed star maps to sell in return

When the sun rose on his 16th birthday, he left a note at home saying he felt ready to tackle his own destiny, and left.

He had a brush with Lucifer, but not Beel. so close, buddy.

Anyways he arrives at The Hunters Guild, finds his parents again, and takes residence in the observatory, where he studies his stars and druid magic again. But also, sleep and dreams.

He is a goat hybrid with... something else mixed in. His species is hidden from most who know about his charscter, but knowing that he can not lie, doesnt give anyone his real name. Has minor suggestion magic over thise who's names he knows, his magic is mostly deal-based, cant touch iron, everything has a price, he wont take gifts unless very specifically told there's no cost to it, and has power over those whithin his home/domain by rule of hospitality- you might be able to know what he is.

He makes weirdly accurate plushies of people, which by an enchantment change to maych the person the doll is of.

His coworker is a sentient doll known as ash. [Not my character]

He has in the past taken people's memories and the things they care most about as payment, and the payment for the enchanted dolls are done by intent. If you want one because you appreciate the craftmenship? It's pretty cheap. Want one to keep an eye on someone, or to experiment with the magic? Gimme your memories. And they have every opportunity to back down from the deal and leave, but they always take the deal and leave worse off.

He has a few friends outside of his coworker, being a sentient automaton [not my character], and a miserable guy with memory issues that he likes to spend time with whenever he gets a chance [also not my character] second guy in these drawings vvvvv

Also he feels bad about a deal where he took a guys wings because he has issues with messing with people's wings since he- used to- have wings. He's blind in one eye, as well from the same incident with his lost wings.

He specifically tries to freak people out because if they dont run away if he's trying to scare them off, then they wont run away if he's teying to be their friends. It's convoluted, but it's his way of making sure he doesnt get hurt from someone leaving him behind. So- so many abandonment issues.

He wants to seperate his coworker's life from his own, because he doesnt want them to have to die if he does. [If Jax dies, ash also will]

He has a soft spot for kids, and will go out of his way to help one [specifying lack of cost] that needs help. [Example: a kid that knows the automaton friend shows up without his glasses, dizzy and tired, so he finds them a place in his shop/house where they can safely rest before they find their way to where they're going. Also gave them advice that is very specific to his species, being to not thank him for doing the bare minimum to help, because saying "thank you" implies a debt owed]

He's simultaneously creepy, adorable, sad, and also has 'cool aunt' vibes lol.

I made a cosplay of him and wore it for halloween. He is definitely one of my favorites, lol.

Hello! After lots of thinking and reserching and studying I think I'm ready to start my path in Hellenic Polytheism and I wanted to ask something. In all your post you always emphasize the importance of introducing one self when first interacting with the Gods. I was thinking in doing a overall introduction to all Gods and then speak towards Persephone and Apollo since I feel closer to them. Can I get your opinion?

Yup that can work. The difficulty here is aiming at *all* the Hellenic gods and that mostly comes down to choosing the right wording. 

I can think of two different approaches: you can either use Zeus as a referee or use “domains” (for lack of a better word): 

For example if you say something like “I call Zeus, King of the Gods and all gods who you rule over, please hear me”, that should cover the whole pantheon. Option two is saying something like “I call to the gods who dwelve in Olympos, on sea, earth and the Underworld [...]” and that seems like it could cover everyone too. I think the wording of option 2 has maybe a bit more loopholes than the first but ultimately, you’ll have to see which approach you prefer. 

That being said, if you end up approaching other deities than Persephone and Apollo in maybe several months or years, it might good for you to “reintroduce” yourself or atleast have a more personal approach towards whoever this deity is. That’s not because the deity forgot you, but more upon the logic that kharis is built on the repetition of giving offerings/prayer. That being said, it’s always a perk to be able to remind the deity that you did introduce yourself a while back, even indirectly and that’s a good way to start a new relationship. 

You probably should also try to seperate the offerings in that case. So you have one offering that’s for everyone in one container and then the one(s) for Persephone and Apollo in something else. Remember that Persephone is chthonic and Apollo is uranic so that also means some traditionally ritual differences (hands face up for uranic, hands face down for chthonic // you can consume offerings given to uranic gods, but you should dispose of the ones for chthonic gods). 

I wish you the best for your introduction! Don’t worry about it being perfect, introductions never are and it’s normal to be a bit nervous. The gods know that perfectly.
