Can you draw some more Joyce and Sinclair? Please🙏🙏
Chaseprice stepsister AU part. 4
Average morning at the Chase-Price household
----
Context: Victoria's parents attended Blackwell back in the days and become friends through the French club and also cause they were both closeted as hell (this happened in the early 80s)
I'd like to think that Sinclair was at least acquaintance with Joyce and Sera (maybe more with the latter-)
Note: Sinclair got to Blackwell thanks to a foreign exchange student program, she is originally from Quebec
----
Decided to recreate this scene from scary movie 1 with Leland and Sean Prescott
as you can see, Victoria's attitude and two-facedness came straight from him
----
Sera and "Frenchie" reunite....
See ya next in part 5 ;) i really missed expanding on this au lol
part 1 l part 2 l part 3
I was going to write a long thing about the parallels between Sera and Rachel....but honestly I think using photo's gets my point across pretty heavily.
Was reminded of my one post discussing Frank Bowers and his abuse of Rachel, and that got me fired up about how much I hate that the writers of both S01 and BTS tried to trick the player into liking him even though he's genuinely a terrible person.
Writers: He has a dog! Bad people can't own dogs! Plus, we had a random cop say he shut down a dog fighting ring.
The Reality: He intentionally raised Pompadue to be an aggressive attack dog. He got this dog directly from the guy who was running the dog fights. He did nothing to actively stop the fights, just ended up in a situation where he happened to kill the guy in charge, and then let it fall apart from there. The dog abuse had nothing to do with the killing.
Writers: He killed his best friend to save Sera and Chloe! Isn't it so sad watching him pour one out over the markless grave?
The Reality: He was best friends with a violent drug lord and animal abuser who sells predominantly to teenagers, can physically assault one or both of the North brothers (which will end with one of them in the hospital), hires teens as drug mules, hits on teenage girls, willfully commits kidnapping, forcibly drugs people against their will, and at one point beats Chloe into unconsciousness. Frank only decides to take Damon out after the man stabbed him and he walked in on Damon beating the shit out of Chloe and torturing Sera. He was aware of all the prior behavior and did nothing to stop it until it was effecting him directly.
Writers: He helps Chloe and Max in the end!
The Reality: Yes, he does, but not before threatening violence against them (a pair of teenagers) multiple times, and proceeds to complain about them if they decide to defend themselves from him.
Writers: He loved Rachel!
The Reality: He groomed her, supplied her with drugs (thus enabling her addiction), and used her as a drug mule to target other teenagers. It's very telling that he hung out with Damon, who used similar methods, and who made a pass at Chloe when she was 16. Is it possible that from his fucked up perspective that he genuinely believed he loved Rachel? Yes. But him "loving" her doesn't change the fact that he was also one of her abusers. As sad as it is, people can feel their own twisted form of love towards their victims and still choose to abuse them. That's what he did to her.
“I look just like my mommy.”
Do you sometimes think about the fact that Sera only got to know her daughter for three years at best and then Rachel died? Do you sometimes think about everything that it implies? Do you think Chloe was the one who told her? Do you think she relapsed? Do you think about how much she was angry at James, the fact he did so much to protect Rachel, going as far as not letting Sera see her for years, only for Rachel to die at 19? Do you think she thought about how she was getting all this hope back— to see her daughter grow up, see her graduating, become an adult, this hope to be a real mother, only for said hopes to be crushed so early?
But, even worse, if she never reconnect with Rachel, and learn about her death. The way she purposefully kept herself away from her daughter, because she thought it was the right thing to do to protect her, the right thing to do as a mother. The right thing to do so Rachel could be happy. But in the end, all it did was refraining her from ever knowing her own daughter. And now, she has to live with this guilt. Knowing the last time she’s seen Rachel was when she was still a baby, and that she will never get to see her older.
Do you?

Already did a LIS fancast before, but since some of them were too old, I think it's time to do a new one

Hey, hun! Long time, no see.
What were your personal thoughts on Rachel’s parents? And, I mean her biological mother, Sara, her stepmother, Rose, and her father, James. 👀
Omg I totally would've missed this cuz I uninstalled Tumblr! Missed you, as well as the good side of Tumblr! Good thing I'm back, even if just for a sec.
Another great question! Been a while since I've touched on Before The Storm, but if we're talking about personal thoughts, I'll be basing them off memory & won't be trying to over justify them, hehe (yay)
Sera's pretty cool, could tell that the writers made it a point to parallel her and Rachel, even though I still believe there's a difference between them. Popular girl who never had enough fulfilment and turned to drugs, kinda oversimplified and would've been nice to see her story. Sean's mother, (was her name Karen ?), kinda reminds me of Sera/Rachel. Her protecting Chloe and sacrificing her own safety to give Rachel "what she needs/a good father" is touching. Even though the latter also shows her own self-doubts and hesitance in confronting the problem. By tangent, Rachel also has this, like delaying or avoiding the inevitable/lack of communication with Chloe (although they share a preference to communicating via letters), but actually took actions to chase after what she wants. I wish they would've met for longer and Rachel gets proper advice/guidance from Sera. Making Sera her confident about drugs and her LA dreams isn't a bad idea. But then again we're talking after-the-fact.
Rose is caring and understanding. And perhaps too much like a good wife that James married her. Good for his career, I guess.. I read that she's almost robotic, even though if we watch Chloe's backtalk on the dinner table and turn Jame's arguments against himself, we can actually see Rose making valid points against James. Rachel even smiled and commented something like "well-said, mom". Liked that bit. And at the end she divorced James, which is also a win. She really cared about Rachel. It's possible that Rachel's awareness of Rose being her stepmother, her upholding a perfect kid/student image & her secret wild side prevented from a deeper bond to form between Rachel and Rose.
James.. argh. Overprotective , manipulative (to Damon & Chloe) and stubborn at times. I can't help but wonder what "and my dad.. will definitely punish me with-" (Rachel said under the oak tree) could refer to, but it definitely suggests an oppressive side of him that makes Rachel feel really suffocated (and possibly needing a photo to remind her how much her dad loved her. A little messed up, but that's a good early detail of her insecurities.)
Her parents uses the stereotypical strict Asian +only child parenting except for the lack of proper guidance. It also kinda haunts me how in the OG LIS, they would've looked harder for Rachel if she never met Chloe. (Chloe pulled her away from her parents? But this doesn't matter that much cuz she still got baited by Jeffersht, showing that she never truly shared with them what's deeply bothering her/ask for advice)
I hope you're doing good! I'm trying to take and break and heal from the decisive side of Tumblr, see you, hun :')
