I am feeling this HARD. House shopping (!) has filled me with the itch to have my eventual home have some sense of design and organization and an aesthetic, but then I look at the cost of anything but cheap or used furniture and decor and it’s SO MUCH!!! Example: How can RUGS be so expensive?

yeah everything is SO expensive! almost all of our furniture is from free curb scores (back in the city) or thrift shops, but it’s hard to find anything very nice that way. right now I’m trying to shop for an affordable lamp that doesn’t look like shitty college dorm decor, and lamps are also way pricier than it seems like they should be! (ALSO, house shopping?? you’ll have to tell me more about that soon!!)

I had never played anything with much of a shooter element before so I was terrible at the start—I kept dying on Eden Prime even after putting it temporarily on casual. I am getting better though, so hopefully it’s the same for them!

hahaha I always play Mass Effect with the Goober Baby difficulty setting, so no judgement here!! I think my view of their skill level is skewed by the fact that I've played the games 239483985 times and know the paths and the enemy placements like the back of my hand at this point so I'm always like "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" and "NO TO YOUR LEFT-- YOUR OTHER LEFT" at them bahahaha

haha I woke up this morning rEALLY SAD ABOUT MASS EFFECT....

for real tho mass effect is hands-down the best-written series I have ever seen. as of last night, ME3 beat-out Portal 2 as my favorite game of all time, and all I can think of is how much I wanna play it again and share it with people. it's been a really big deal to me for a while, and I'm sad that the games are over, but I hope that the fandom stays strong so that I can keep being in love with it for a long time to come!!

i really really hope that someday I can be a part of making something as profoundly emotional as that, because damn. i'm gonna need time to recover, for reals

Oh no no dear you are perfectly fine! Honestly the difference is not enough for me to care, especially on big transactions, and if it ever becomes an issue for me I'll just adjust my prices accordingly. I'm not over here starving or missing my rent because of a little fee like that, so for me no big deal.

I just figure it's a thing that everybody should know about, especially for people who sell lots of very very small transactions, like those for stickers or buttons or keychains or the like. You wind up losing 10% on every $5 transaction, and 30% on every $1 transaction-- that is, the person receiving the money only gets about $.69 for every $1 purchase. And that's terrible, when you're trying to pay for materials and not lose money!

That movie is gorgeous. I could watch it on mute and still enjoy it. Did you try looking at the Amazon Marketplace to see the used DVD prices? It aggregates tons of places like Hastings with ratings on what shape it’s in. It’s worth a look, maybe!

ah I did just now but I don't really want to buy online unless I have no other choice! I'd rather just go out and pick up the DVD u__u but thanks for the suggestion!
