Strangeness & Charm || Inara & Asha
Asha couldn’t help but fidget with the hem of her sari as she made her way through the halls of the Companion House in which she’d so recently found herself. Only a few weeks had passed since her arrival from the circus, and already she’d begun to wonder if she’d made the right decision in leaving. So many of these people were so intelligent and so respected…she couldn’t help but wonder what they must think of her. No doubt many saw her as out of her depth. How could they not? It was clear her education left quite a bit to be desired, not to mention the scars. She’d done her best to cover them up, but she knew they would find out eventually. Her only hope was that she could prove them wrong– That she could impress them before they ever discovered her past. Shaking her head, the dancer cleared her thoughts. She’d been summoned by one of the senior companions for a tea ceremony– a common activiy here, she’d learned, but she’d come to believe they were merely held for clients. She wouldn’t argue, however. A good cup of tea would, at the very least, settle her nerves. Upon reaching the door, she hesitated before giving a light knock.
