In the Valley
(This is a sequel/continuation of day 9) When Antoni and Raul returned to the Brotherhood's bunker with news of the NCR ranger's "departure" from the area, they were allowed free access to the bunker. "I believe this belongs to you as well." Elder McNamara gestured for one of the armor clad knights to return Antoni's arm. He took it and hooked the circuits back into place before attaching it to the interior rivets. He tested it, moving his fingers and twisting his wrist around. He nodded in satisfaction as Raul felt along the joints for damage. "Thanks-" He said reluctantly. He glanced at Raul and nodded to talk outside in the hallway by the staircase. "I don't want to kill these people-" He hissed. "Even if they did take my arm, Veronica is from the Brotherhood, and she's nice." "But your employer doesn't want them alive." Raul replied. "House can't know about everything that goes on..." Antoni murmured. Raul just shrugged. Antoni smacked himself in the side of the head. "I got it-" He said suddenly and dashed off. "You want me to do what?" Veronica asked as she and Antoni tuned up her powerfist. "I need you to help me convince McNamara and the NCR to establish a truce." Antoni repeated. "McNamara might make peace, but Hardin is an entirely separate issue." Veronica replied. "The man hates the NCR with a passion. Besides, how will you even convince the NCR to sign a treaty?" "I'm still working on that." Antoni murmured. "Why are you even working with House if he wants you to...kill me?" Veronica asked. Antoni was silent, "House is...he's..." He stammered and sighed, "The Legion are the bad guys. But the NCR aren't the good guys. House is my only option. House will keep the NCR docile, but the Brotherhood are my friends. So I need to help the NCR help the Brotherhood." Veronica nodded along, "That's oddly...thought out for you." "I don't know what to do..." Antoni mumbled. "This is the only shot I have."
Horse to Water
A few weeks of the same routine passed before Ely was moved. A group of soldiers, namely First Recon, as well as a few others, were moved to Camp Forlorn Hope. And Ely was sent with them to help Doctor Alex Richards. The assignment was the easy part. Getting there turned out to be more difficult. Cazadores had built giant nests in the rocks and landscape near the camp. They weren't difficult to kill, but they were fast, they got the upper hand, or...mandible, by simply flying faster than the soldiers could aim. Let alone Ely with the peashooter xe still had on xem. No one had died in the skirmish. But cazadore venom was slow acting. Ely rationed out the antivenom xe prepared and divided it among the afflicted soldiers. It was less than a full dose. A little more than half a dose. But it was better than nothing. It would slow the poison long enough to get to camp to administer the rest. "Here." Ely knelt down in front of Bitter-Root and wrapped bandages around his upper thigh where he got stung. He hissed in discomfort, "Sorry. I have your dose of antivenom. I'd take it now, keep up your strength." Xe handed the bottle to him. "No- I've survived worse than this." He replied. "Okay, and I'm getting supplies and a warm bed to give you chems. So take it." Xe replied and finished wrapping the wound. "Save it for one of the weaker soldiers." "They had their doses." "We'll probably stumble on another nest. I think one of the Privates might need it more." He tried to stand. "What’s your problem?" Ely stopped him with a firm hand. "Avoiding treatment doesn't make you strong. It makes you an overconfident ass. And if you're not trying to be strong, you're trying to look tough. And in that case, it makes you an idiot. And if you're trying to be self sacrificing, it makes you a bigger idiot for dying to a giant wasp in the service of a bureaucrat tax machine." Xe shoved the bottle into his hands. "Drink. The. God. Damn. Antivenom. Or I will forcefeed it to you." Xe finished with a smile as xe packed up xyr bag. "I'm not going to let you die. You're the only person here who I actually like."
I remade the drawing of Bitter Root (fnv) and it’s a little better, but I think I’ll still work on it. :)
I’ve been playing Fallout New Vegas again so I decided I’d draw Bitter-Root and 10-of-Spades in Mspaint. I think all of camp McCarran is pretty cool in game.
Not super happy with how I drew 10-of-Spades, might retry drawing him later.
