Elena Gilbert

First impression: I liked her immediately

Impression now: a really underrated protagonist who I love a lot

Favorite moment: her stabbing herself in front of Elijah as a chess move in The Dinner Party is so fucking funny, gets me every time. There are other moments I love with her that are more poignant but that one really is the epitome of a lot of what I like best about her character which is why it’s my go to.

Idea for a story: tvd does not really inspire the writer in me, but if I’m making one up off the top of my head I think the beginning of s6 when she’s erased Damon from her brain would be a fun place to write an Elena-centered fic from.

Unpopular opinion: liking her and finding her to be an interesting character is unpopular

Favorite relationship: probably Katherine overall. there are other dynamics that inspire the shipper in me more (Rebekah) or that I have softer emotions about (Jenna) but the Petrova doppelgängers are just It in a way other relationships aren’t.

Favorite headcanon: I read a meta once about how she’s much more extroverted than her fan image depicts her and I agree

for the ship ask game: bonnie/stefan! i saw you mention in tags once and it’s a ship i’ve never really thought about so i’m very curious to hear your thoughts!

Whether I ship it or not: I don’t actively ship it actually but I don’t not ship it either, I’m a little intrigued by the possibilities there but based on mostly other people’s posts that I’ve read @cancerianwoman and @occulthours have some good more in depth takes on the dynamic and the potential there. When I was rewatching last year I did have an elevated interest in the dynamic compared to previous watches I especially think their s1 reluctant allies to sort of enemies to reluctant truce again type dynamic was really good and would have liked more work there, that like with a lot of Bonnie/Kat’s dynamics was underutilized. But I don’t have a lot of emotion attached to their dynamic since again, wasn’t utilized well after s1 for the most part. 

My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc): I do actually think Kat and Paul had really good chemistry (they’re also two of the strongest actors on the show imo (I think of Nina and Kat’s performances as being by far the best tbh but Paul definitely ranks high of the male cast and I’m saying that when I don’t particularly like Stefan as a char so that says something)  that gives their scenes a lil something extra when they do interact. Only lacking on the longevity/development side in canon.

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc): Like you said there isn’t a ton of fanon / I haven’t seen a lot of them in fanon so don’t have a lot to say there. This is maybe less about them as a ship and more about fanon regarding the two chars but I really roll my eyes at anything that draws a line between Bonnie’s mistreatment in the narrative and Stefan’s supposed mistreatment in the narrative / acts like there’s any type of equivalency there, it’s just very tone deaf and transparent and silly for a lot of reasons and makes me not respect people. Within like my circle of moots in the tvdu fandom don’t think I have anything controversial to say about fanon though

Headcanon A:  realistic — not totally a headcanon because in the books canon she gets this Icelandic coffee imported which seems so ic so I like to think this is a show detail too we just aren’t visually shown and I think she does the same with other things from there she misses...

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious — I mean nothing’s too out there for pll so I struggled to think of something unrealistic… but a goofier one is that when they mention Aria’s college interviews I keep imagining outfits she would wear to said interviews and I hope they’re some of her most out there ones, tie skirt to Oberlin interview comic strip dress to Brown and whatnot

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends — I hope she had a good college experience on the whole and got to be involved there in a way she wasn’t in Rosewood, but I do think from what we see with Liam paints a picture that while she escaped Ezra for a little bit he kind of haunted her dating life and she mostly only saw people with whom things had to be hush hush and secret a la her and Liam hiding they were together at work.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own. — she and Ezra are divorced by pllos idc what canon says
