even now, the police are going after muslim protestors and targeting their families in india. the father, minor brother, and brother-in-law of a muslim cjp volunteer, mohammed junaid, were kidnapped by cops. just because he was distributing water to protestors as a muslim.
that is the cost of being a muslim in this country.
Trans women are just strictly superior at everything I guess.
Truly speechless at this. "Cis women are so dainty and fragile that moving chess pieces for too long exhausts them."
Please acquire some self-respect (and maybe learn statistics). I am taking psychic damage over here.
So much of transphobia is just exaggerated sexism (or reheated homophobia).
This one is always on my mind. And always relevant.
european and amerikan having a mid off about which place kills most migrants
neverrr check the notes on a poll where tumblr users are confronted with the possibility they could visit other countries
The worst part is, these people have all been inoculated by pseudo-intellectual Tumblr discourse that Wikipedia is FREE UNBIASED COMMUNITY BASED COTTAGE CORE INFORMATION so they swallow it up instantly and uncritically
Don't fucking hide this in the tags
“I don’t like this expression “First World problems.” It is false and it is condescending. Yes, Nigerians struggle with floods or infant mortality. But these same Nigerians also deal with mundane and seemingly luxurious hassles. Connectivity issues on your BlackBerry, cost of car repair, how to sync your iPad, what brand of noodles to buy: Third World problems. All the silly stuff of life doesn’t disappear just because you’re black and live in a poorer country. People in the richer nations need a more robust sense of the lives being lived in the darker nations. Here’s a First World problem: the inability to see that others are as fully complex and as keen on technology and pleasure as you are.”

oh they made that fucking zionist the showrunner for the adaptation of a book that has two prominent characters from palestine yeah this shit is about to be unwatchable
Hello friends 🧡
My name is Bilal. I am a 35-year-old father of four children 👨👧👦 from Gaza. I lived a simple life with my family. I worked hard every day to provide my children with a decent life and a better future.
But the war took everything from us… 💔
In a sudden bombing, my home was destroyed, and the place that once brought my family together became nothing but ruins. I lost several members of my family, and I, my wife, and my daughter were injured, leaving us with deep physical and emotional suffering.
After losing my home, my job, and my only source of income, I became unable to work because of my injuries. My responsibilities became greater than my ability to provide. Today, I live with my children in a small, worn-out tent ⛺ that does not protect us from the heat of the sun ☀️, the cold of winter ❄️, insects 🐜, or rats 🐭 that have become part of our daily struggle.
Even the little food we manage to get 🍞 does not remain safe for us, as the rats eat it, and my children cannot eat it afterward. We are living in extremely difficult conditions, trying only to survive through fear and hardship 💔.
The tent where we live is located near the yellow line, and we have nowhere else to go or a safe place to shelter. It breaks my heart to see my children suffering while I cannot provide what they need 😢.
I ask kind-hearted people ❤️ to stand with me and help us provide medical treatment for my wife and daughter 🏥, secure the basic needs for my children, and help us overcome these unbearable circumstances after losing everything.
Because of the war in Gaza, I lost everything — my home 🏚️ and my work in law, as I am a law graduate ⚖️. My wife and my daughter Malak suff
Please donate whatever you can to help us and stand by us during this difficult time 🙏. Your support can give my family new hope and help my children have a safer and more dignified life 🤍.
Please share our story with anyone who may be able to help 🤲.
Thank you to everyone who extends a helping hand and feels our pain ❤️.
i can't believe i have to lock the fuck in and actually study 😖
"i hope for season 4 they —" not to be rude i don't wanna step on people's copium but there's no going back from this. there is no improving a writers' room infested by actual real life white supremacists. they pushed it this far because they don't want to go back to how it was. that production is no longer safe for anyone who isn't willing to be complicit and that complicity comes at a huge mental strain and doesn't feel very safe just look at the actors during those after dark interviews. imo the best that can be done is make the people who made iwtv what it was feel heard and appreciated and focus on supporting their individual careers and maintain a community that keeps the first two seasons up as a cult classic of queer/black/intersectional storytelling while putting the rest on blast until the whole thing is over and done and until the white supremacists in charge are never taken seriously in creative circles again. that's just what i think
also the increasing number of posts i'm seeing 'demanding' solidarity from muslims for these protests. it's baffling. muslims have been at the forefront of resistance in this country for decades while majority of the same crowd that is currently protesting, has turned a blind eye or even encouraged the brutality they have faced at the hands of the state. you called them anti national for doing the same. how can you forget umar khalid, sharjeel imam and many other activists who are behind bars without a trial?
it's good to see the youth gain a political consciousness, you should absolutely go to these protests, it is your right. but do not forget the countless voices that you ignored and mocked until the water reached at your doorstep.
there's a lot to be said when a white european ginger christian character that's known for his breathtaking beauty and labelled an angel for it in a book series is race bent into a brown muslim character and suddenly he's no longer an angel or beautiful but a crazy psychotic gremlin that's repeatedly kicked down for being submissive in bed and his childhood sexual abuse and exploitation is thrown back at him everytime by (mostly) white characters and his religiosity is suddenly nowhere to be found but is conveniently repeatedly compared to nazis in various ways and is considered a failure of a bisexual man because again he is submissive and recipient in bed rather than a promiscuous masculine bisexual man that everybody fawns over (lestat) and again he was a victim of pedophilia sexual slavery and racism but his ideal partner that would "cradle him" is an old grandpa white man who's a racist rapist that calls him a rent boy and a submissive twink sociopath.
give the writers all the awards yall they deserve them!
"no one is owed anything, except for me who is owed your money"
this might be a bit of a shock for american authors but your right to your intellectual property does not take precedence over our right to read whatever the fuck we want and your shit wouldn't be half as popular as it is if it weren't for piracy
I don't know this author or her work & also this is going to get me crucified but she is 100% right. The idea that you should be able to use the fruits of someone's labor for free is entitlement. For some reason everyone on this "leftist" site forgets that if someone does not get to reap the (financial) rewards for their own work, that is a form of injustice and will lead to alienation.
Yes, you can make very valid arguments for pirating textbooks, medical texts or other books that are necessary for your survival or the betterment of your life. But as everyones derogatory comments in the notes already show, we all know Booktok books don't fall in that category. If you think you have a right to read because reading will make you more intelligent or empathetic, you still must admit that some books have no such effect. They're just entertainment, and thats fine, but it's also a luxury! It is not something you NEED, let alone something you have some unalienable right to. And honestly I don't even care that much if you pirate a book (some people really cant afford to buy it or have no other way to access it), but to act as if you deserve to read everything you want for free even though you could afford to buy it, is pure entitlement.
Someone being upset that you're significantly undermining their livelihood isnt ridiculous. If you can see why artists deserve to have high rates for their commissions (because they put a lot of skill and time and effort into their work), then why can't you apply that logic to writers? Even if you think their work is bad, they did put in the hours. And so did their editors, the cover illustrators, the marketing team and everyone else at the publishing house. Do none of these people deserve compensation for their work? Do you really believe that no one who pirates a book might otherwise have bought it, or could have borrowed it from a library? What is it about books that makes you feel like you're owed free access to them?
If you want to talk about exploitation of writers (and their team's) labour here, i suggest you point fingers at the publishing houses that hardly allow these people to have a cut of the profits from book sales, rather than the people who are barred from being able to access knowledge around the world for one reason or another. If you are able and want to support the author financially you are better off finding their social media and checking if they have a patreon you can pledge yourself to, rather than expecting the publishing houses to share a decent cut with them.
Small booktok authors aiming their frustration with the capitalist system that exploits them at the people who are barred access from information is ridiculous, and frankly they only serve the global push right now to cut off our access to the repositories that have copies of ANY of these books, not just the booktok ones.
It bothers me so much how most AI discourse singles out AI art as a particularly bad thing when that's one of the least harmful uses of AI. If you're going to be talking about how AI is terrible at least talk about the actually harmful things it could be used for like mass surveillance or layoffs or something instead of "it makes bad art"
I keep seeing people act as though the solution to these problems is to just harass anyone who uses AI until it magically goes away, and that isn't going to work. Sending death threats towards random hobbyists (and don't pretend this doesn't happen, I have seen it happen with my own two eyes) is not going to help anyone and does not address any of the actual problems with AI. The actual problems with AI have nothing to do with consumers and acting as though shaming people for using it is going to fix any of those problems is misguided at best.
the ukraine war is showing us in real time as warfare evolves into swarms of autonomous drones that can operate over dozens of miles and make the final decision on who to kill. moreover it increasingly looks like traditional militaries have no good response to these weapons -- the stable solution is that everyone (with a military they take seriously) is forced not only to adopt them, but go all-in on developing them, and the ai race turns into a more literal arms race.
the fact that this does not enter into the top 10 issues in "ai discourse" drives me insane
My grandmother could lose her life. Why is she being overlooked?💔
We have reduced our own food so we can save every possible donation for her treatment.
We have received almost no donations. The last one came three days ago.🙏
My grandmother is suffering from serious kidney problems. If her treatment is delayed, she could develop kidney failure, and her body may not be able to withstand it. We are terrified of losing her.
Please, my grandmother is in a critical condition. Her chance of survival depends on the support and kindness of people willing to stand beside her. * We need $420 every week to keep my grandmother from reaching kidney failure—a condition that could cost her her life.💔😭
Please, any donation, no matter how small, helps us provide her essential treatment and gives her a chance to survive.🙏🙏

How will my grandmother survive‼️❓ 🔴Please, any donation—whether it's $10, $15, or $20—makes a real difference and brings us closer to providing my grandmother's treatment.💔💔🙏🙏🙏
My friends, this is an urgent appeal. We need your support so my grandmother can stay alive.💔😭
You have got to be kidding me!!
The West Bengal government invoked the Goonda Act for the first time after clashes during the Kolkata NEET protest, with police arresting 11
I don't understand the demands of protests has not only been that Dharmendra Pradhan resigns, but also compensation be paid to injured students and that no one protesting be charged either. What the fuck? Where's the push on these two demands?! You can't just organize a protest, mobilize students and then let the most vulnerable among the group bear the burnt of ire. What does merely condemning it going to do????
INJECTING IT
