MORPHOLOGY AND HISTOLOGY OF THE SPERMATHECA OF SERINETHA AUGUR FABR. (HETEROPTERA : COREIDAE) | UTTAR PRADESH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGY
Serinetha augur Fabrspermaitheca .'s is divided into two parts: the terminal spermathecal gland-cum-reservoir and the coiled spermathecal duct. A spherical sac at the distal end of the duct is the old structure. Cuticular intima lines the inside, followed by smaller epithelial cells and bigger secretory cells, according to histology. The spermathecal duct is a coiled tube that is longer than the sac and has a thicker intima. It has an elastic ring, a diaphragm, and striated muscles at its distal end that govern the flow of spermatic fluid into and out of the spermathecal gland-cum-reservoir.
