My Thoughts On #DropTheB

Okay, so, it’s likely that no one cares, but I feel obligated to talk about this.

So, if you haven’t heard of #DropTheB, feel lucky, because it’s a disgusting trend that needs to stop.

The trend started on 4-Chan, with a meme that had a message that, in short read, “Doesn’t bisexuality imply that there are only two genders.”

As someone who is bisexual herself, I must say, and I say this as kindly as I can, that that statement is complete crap and incorrect.

If someone is bilingual, does that mean there are only two languages in the world? No, there are almost 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, but you see no one starting anything about that definition.

People who identify as bisexual have been getting crap since the beginning, both inside and outside of the LGBTQ+ community.

When I was trying to figure out what my sexuality was, I was having a very hard time. I kept jumping between pan and bi, as back then, I didn’t entirely understand the meaning behind them.

There were many times that I tried to convince myself I was with either straight or pan, because I believed being bi was wrong. But now I know, that is absolutely not true.

The LGBTQ+ community is supposed to be seen as a safe place for people who haven’t had a voice for years and years to finally feel safe in their own skin, and to be accepted for who they are. But with all that’s been going on, I feel like I can’t say that anymore.

My friend used an analogy I felt to make a lot of sense. Say you have a piece of bread, and you like the bread, it’s good bread. But then, you toast the bread. It is no longer bread, it is now toast but you still like it.

For a while, I had a crush on a trans boy friend of mine. I am bi, but I had a major crush on a person who identified as trans.

Being bi does not mean you are saying there are only two genders, because there are not. It is 2018, and people are figuring themselves out more everyday.

I support anyone, no matter what, but if I can’t feel safe going to Pride, or being who I am, because someone who identifies as a wolfpup is offended by my sexuality, then I’m sorry, but back up.

As I said, it’s 2018, so accept people for who they are, and please, stop #DropTheB before it gets more out of hand. Thank you for listening 🏳️‍🌈

The last thing I want is for Matt to die, cause I love Matt. But it would definitely give pidge the development she needs and hasn’t gotten.

It would also let us see more interactions between pidge and the other characters, and see how she as a character can change, and how her relationships with the other paladins can change.

And Matt or Sam don’t have to die for this to happen either, although it would provide for a huge change and opportunity for development.

The reason I wanted the person in this clip -

to be pidge, is cause this could also give us another opportunity to see relationships develop between pidge and the others.

Yeah, we had the “torture” scene where pidge was shoved up against a wall for two seconds. But if im being honest it totally could’ve been better. And the only person we saw react was Lance. (Which I loved very much go plance.) maybe Keith a tiny bit. But nobody even brought it up afterwards, didn’t check if she was okay or anything.

This was the same when lance died. Nobody reacted besides allura. And that’s where my problem with voltron comes in.

The characters (if developing at all) are developing on their own. There is not as much bondage between the characters as I would have hoped unless it’s between Keith and Shiro (and sometimes lance and allura). As much as I love Keith and shiro, I wanted to see more come from hunk and pidge.

I wanted the others to see pidges distress at finding her brothers grave. I wanted to see more than food comments from hunk (and not just in the 7th season). I wanted even the smallest comment to pidge from iverson, telling her he’d be keeping an eye on her and then laughing cause he only has one eye. I want to see pidge and Keith bond and OF COURSE I want to see Lance and pidges relationship grow stronger. There’s so much MORE that could’ve been done to focus on her.

I wish I could have higher expectations for season 8, I really do. I wanna be surprised this season. I don’t want a//urance, it’s predictable, pretty much backwards development. I want the characters to come out of this happy, but not unaffected by what they went through, which is a reoccurring problem throughout this show. It’s been feeling a lot like the Keith and shiro show. I want it to be voltron again. I think that’s what we, and the characters of this show deserve in the end.
