ARROGANT  BOY         it’s  what  he’s  been  told  he  is.       

        none  the  less  when  he  hears  her  use  the  word  mother  for  the  first  time  he’s  scarcely  sure  what  to  do  with  it.  he  spares  her  a  skeptical  look  ....  he  has  no  mother. 

when  she  lightly  scolds  him  into  finishing  his  vegetables  ,  eyes  his  smart  mouthed  responses  ,  tells  him  what  to  do  ..  he  rebels  against  the  notion  further. 

but  when  she  finds  him  tear  stained  ,  gazing  at  burning  blood  and  ink  on  his  branded  wrist  &  curls  him  into  her  arms .. he  cries.  like  ...  like  a  child.  one  with  a  mother. 

graceful  fingers  dab  his  busted  lip  ,  her  presence  is  the  gentlest  thing  in  his  life.  sullen  faced  ,  his  efforts  to  swat  her  away  are  halfhearted  ,  the boy  knows  he  messed  up  today’s  mission  ,  he  knows  it’s  his  fault.  he  bucked  the  order  ,  changed  the  plan  ,  convinced  his  own  was  superior.  no  one  had  been  ready  for  it  &  the  umbrella  academy  fell  out  of  line  and  gave  their  foe  advantage.  advantage  enough  to  almost  get  them  all  killed  &  enough  for  their  targets  to  get  away.  instinct  tells  him  to  expect  her  to  blame  him  ,  like  everyone  else  had.  instead  she  tells  him  .. this.  

             ‘  being  your  mother  is  the  greatest  gift  of  my  life.  ’

                            her  words  echo  through  a  pounding  head  ,  as  he’s  sat  on  his  rueful  throne  of  rubble.  fresh  tears  wash  a  streak  down  his  cheeks  between  apocalyptic  dust.

@serotiinal has one of my favorite ocs on this site. Mehzi is so well thought out and gorgeous. Her whole story and the world she crafted. The amount of work the mun puts into her worldbuilding is stunning and awe inspiring. We don't deserve her but it's such a delight to see her on the dash.
