Heres a scenario:
After coming back from leave, everyone was talking about their time home and the mess hall was loud with chatter. You had walked in with your tray and sat down with the rest of your team. And you listened to everyone talk. And when Gaz had finished his story you deemed it the perfect opportunity to start speaking about your time home.
You were about half way through talking about the time you had spent with your family and few outside friends and the things you did. Only now did you realize, that through your entire explanation, no one was paying attention. You felt your heart hurt for a moment, quieting down and focusing on your food, keeping your eyes down to the tray in front of you, the longer you looked at it the more uneasy you felt.
“What happened after your mum started t’shout at the waitress?” Ghost spoke up to you from across the table. You looked up from your tray to Ghost. He was sitting with his finger intertwined with each other, resting on the table, he was leaning his weight on his forearms.
“What?” You asked, raising an eyebrow. Ghost scratched his cheek through the mask before locking his hands together again.
“I asked what happened after your mum started shoutin’ at the waitress? At the restaurant?” He spoke questioningly. He read your movements. Shock. Surprise. Amusement. Those were some of the few things he picked up, another one was happiness and how you looked confused before smiling at him.
In your mind you were beaming. He was paying attention? Let alone he actually wanted to hear more of your time at home.
“Oh well she ended up yelling and. . .” You trailed on happily.
That was one of the key moments you realized you had some feelings for the skeleton-mask-clad man.

Valentines Day. A day you typically never celebrated. Although within recent times, you have been more keen into celebrating it. Though you are a hardened soldier, you still find the idea of being someone’s valentine adorable. And during this time you were someone’s. You had someone to return to at the end of the day. And you cherished him dearly. As did he, you.
Everyone on Task Force 141 knew you and Simon were dating. Besides it was so obvious, you two were always together.
Typically Simon was never one for PDA. But once he got more comfortable he was all over you. Constant lingering touches and head bonks.
I see Simon as the type of person to stop you literally anywhere and gently bonk his forehead against yours or against your shoulder.
Though when the trainees and their captains showed up to be housed at your facility. Simon immediately shied away from you to see what the other soldiers would do. As well as the fact that it was Valentine’s Day soon. And although you were already his. He still had a small amount of fear that someone might ask you and you say yes. It bubbled in his stomach. And another fact that didn’t ease his fear is that you were attractive. Very easy on the eyes.
Has lowkey anxiety that you’ll leave him. Needs reassurance occasionally.
It made his fear spike. Though when his fears came true. They didn’t end the way he expected them to. When he watched a captain from a different squad walk up to you all confident and full of themselves. And he even heard the captain ask. “Hey. Considering Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and you and I are both single, two good looking people I was maybe wondering if you wanted to be my valentine?”
His jealousy skyrocketed. He couldn’t stop himself from walking over immediately. His quiet footfalls fell into your ears and you smiled at the captain before you. “I apologize Captain, but I must decline. I do thank you for the compliment but I am not single. This is my Partner.” Your smile spreads wider once you feel Simon’s hand rest at the small of your back.
You could feel Simon’s hands tense against your back. He was jealous. You laughed quietly to yourself as you watched the Captain in front of you hold a bashful expression. “I apologize sergeant, I did not know. And I apologize to you as well Lieutenant. Have a good rest of your day.” They bid you goodbye and turned and walked away.
You turn to Simon. “Admit it, you were jealous.” You said quietly.
“Was not.” He said simply. “They jus’ needed t’know you were taken.” He muttered.
“More specifically you. C’mon Simon you can’t fool me with that ‘I’m not jealous’ bullshit.” You laughed.
“Fine, y’know what?” He started. “I was jealous. How can I not be with a partner like you?” He said as he pulled your body into his side.
as for what he would do for valentine’s day.
Not a public person at all
If anything he wants to do something romantic with you
But it gives him internal anxiety that you’ll find it cliché as well as the idea that being in public could leave a window of opportunity for either of you to get hurt.
On the other hand.
You couldn’t care less about what you two did for Valentines Day.
You just wanted to spend as much time as possible with him.
Ghost ends up setting up a nice dinner within the base in your room.
You both ate dinner, relaxed.
He managed to get a projector somehow and so you two watched movies off of Gaz’s netflix and Disney+ accounts.
There was a lot of cuddling, kisses and joking between you two that night.
Someone ended up having to come in and turn off the projector and return it at some point.
That person was Soap.
When he saw you two together sleeping in each other’s arms, legs tangled with each other in the sheets. He smiled warmly and picked up the projector and sheet and muttered.
“Sleep well Sergeant, sleep well L.T.”
And with that he left the room and closed the door
