“Ida Rubinstein...where to begin...I’ll keep it brief...

She had a sugar daddy...literally she was born into one of the richest families in Russia...the fortune built on sugar....and banking...she had a great set of teeth though...I digress..

She was orphaned early and was determined to exhibit her talents...literally... Oscar Wilde’s Salomé, she stripped nude for the Dance of the Seven Veils, it was decided to have her confined to a mental institution.

She escaped ...her behaviour was noted in another performance by the church...yes...she was excommunicated (like I ).She was frowned upon for being bisexual but what really got her into hot water was she starred as St Sebastian, a Catholic saint, while she was a Jewish woman.... I’m rambling...oh...she actually was a very unconditional charitable lady and put much effort into her war work ...see image of her in her Bakst designed frock...

She joined with the Ballets Russes for a while but left forming her own company.

She was a muse to Romaine Brooks, a fabulous painter...they were also lovers. Ida was more serious about her love than Romaine was...it didn’t last.

Girl with Peaches (Девочка с персиками) is an 1887 painting by the Russian painter Valentin Serov (Валентин Серов). It is considered to be one of Serov's greatest works and one of his most famous.

Serov later recalled:

All I wanted was freshness, that special freshness that you can always feel in real life and don't see in paintings. I painted it for over a month and tortured her, poor child, to death, because I wanted to preserve the freshness in the finished painting, as you can see in old works by great masters
