AU | Serpent Boy

The once empty house was now filling along nicely. What were once barren walls now had framed photographs, and what had previously been empty rooms now felt cozier and fuller. Sirius and Tiberius occupied the top story of the house, while the boys lived on the second; each had their own rooms but Sirius found they were always hanging in one or the other. Andromeda often came along to offer her touch to the house, but even with parts of it still looking vacant, Sirius loved it. He’d never felt so at home before.

Harry flourished in the new household; it always warmed Sirius to see the once timid boy running around and playing freely. He knew it was messed up that Harry had ever been stopped from behaving like a child, but now he was happy he could finally provide for his godson the environment he needed. Harry liked playing in the garden the most, staying there for hours on end with the pets or by himself.

The sun was setting on the late summer evening, and Tiberius would be home from work soon. Sirius worked for himself, thankfully, so he never had trouble with scheduling time to watch Harry. However Harry needed a bath before they went out for dinner-- no doubt he was covered in dirt and grass by now.

“Harry! Come on in, you’ll be eaten by mosquitoes,” Sirius called out from the screen door. He could see the boy kneeling at the bushes at the end of the garden, with Astro laying down a meter away from him.

(hed) p.e. - Serpent Boy

The good, the bad, and the ugly.  That's the plan with this list.  (hed) p.e. probably falls under all three.  Their first few albums were absolute favorites for me and my friends in high school.  We saw them live probably a half-dozen times and I even lost a shoe in the pit at one of their shows, only to find it sitting there in the middle the second time I went in.  Yes, we can stop here for a moment.  Your dad used to think going in mosh pits was cool as a teenager.  Ok, back to the band.  After those first few albums, the band musically in my opinion lost what I loved about them.  While I still listen to everything when it comes out, none of it compares to those first few albums that were so dear to my teenage years.

Serpent Boy was the song we first heard from them and was the song that had us all heading to the local music store to grab the album.  Heavy rap-rock stuff that was VERY popular for a few years.  Now it gets laughed at a bit, but I will always say that there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure.  Like it and own that.
