It happened to be that you left the Eternals long before the rest felt the need. Something just didn’t feel right as you spent some thousand years protecting humanity and regardless of what the others thought or their devotion to the mission, you knew you wanted out.
You snuck away in the dead of night feeling a massive sense of guilt the further the distance from the only family you’d known all these years. Ajak, Druig, Sersi, all of them would be so hurt you left without a word—but would they have let you leave if you told them?
You didn’t want to be found, not for now. Maybe not ever. But those memories would always haunt you and urge you to go back and you couldn’t drown them out.
Now it was the 21st century and the Eternals were at your front door.
“Found you.” Druig chuckled, inviting himself and the others into your little apartment. “The end is here, y/n.”
“No ‘hello,’ huh? What do you mean? Why are you here?” Your voice chock-full of frustration and embarrassment.
“There was no ‘goodbye.’” Sersi replied, lightly stepping on your creaky hardwood floor, observing some of your collection. “Six hundred A.D.” She pointed to an item on your shelf. “Egypt without us?” You sat down on your couch and shook your head.
“Why did you guys come here? ‘The end’ isn’t good enough.” You demanded as Sprite sat beside you.
“Deviants are back.” Ikaris explained and you rolled your eyes.
“You can handle those. I saw them on the news.m already.” Your guard hadn’t dropped yet, but you felt tears welling just from your family being present in your home.
“A new Celestial is being born.” Sersi added, something they should have led with. “From Earth. It will destroy everything if we don’t find a way to prevent that.”
“You want to kill it?” You asked, completely horrified.
“Merely put it off until a better option presents itself.” Druig continued the conversation and your eyes widened, not understanding how that would even be possible. Your life flashed before you and you just felt lost—you had no idea what happened between when you left and now. Fifteen hundred years passed and now they were asking for your help as if nothing had happened.
“Will you come with us?” Ikaris asked and all eyes fell onto you. You felt a lump in your throat when the question was presented, and Sprite grabbed your hand and squeezed it.
“We need you, y/n. Goodbye or not, we want you there with us when we figure this out.” Sersi assured you, and you smiled lightly.
“Yeah. If you don’t, everyone might die.” Druig added and Ikaris glared at him. You chuckled out of amusement and discomfort and nodded.

So I just want to apologize for literally taking forever to answer this, I kinda forgot it was in my inbox cause I usually only use Tumblr on my phone and it didn't show up there. but anyway I'm really sorry and I haven't watched the movie in like forever so if this is kinda ooc I'm really sorry.

So I feel like she would look kinda shocked at first
like she would look at you with this look of what did you just say/do
and then def blush
but not hard
just enough where you would notice
cause let's be honest you notice everything about this woman
and then of course she would mutter something in Spanish and gently smack you on the arm and tell you to stop
especially if you're around anybody else
cause we all know the other Eternals won't let her live it down
And I kinda feel like she would get payback somehow
like when you guys are eating and no one would notice she would put her hand on your thigh under the table
and you can't do a damn thing about it
or when you guys get home you try to ya know have some sexy times
but you're in the dog house
not for long though cause you both can't go that long without each other lol

and maybe a little giggle
and she'll probably gently hit you like Ajak depending on the situation
though she probably won't retaliate as much as Ajak does
doesn't mean she won't try and make you flustered too
but it won't be in a sexual way I guess if that makes sense 🤷♀️

and I can totally see her taking an embarrassing picture of you and showing people as payback
and she would totally have this like shit eating grin while doing it

and when it happens there is no what in hell is she admitting it
cause for some reason when she is flustered you can't really tell
she doesn't blush (in my opinion at least)
which is impressive
all you get is a small smirk and some side-eye
which you know means trouble
last time you tried to fluster her in front of the other Eternals she just smirked and gave you this look
when everyone left she tickled you for what felt like eternity
it wasn't but felt like it
she'll also probably say something in response that makes you even more flustered than you were trying to make her
you should really know better by now not to do it
it usually doesn't work out in your favor

I headcanon her as someone who would totally look at you and immediately start planning her revenge
like non of these ladies aren't going to do something in retaliation
and Makkari is no different
honestly, I feel like she would be the most dangerous one to try and make flustered
I say this because I can see her pranking you and it being intense
and she'll wait
so you won't know when it's coming
But sometimes
if you say or do something slightly sexual to make her flustered
she'll speed you both off somewhere and make you go through with what you said
I don't know about this but I hope it's okay, I tried. But I think I need to work on Makkari's character a little bit more.

it makes her feel so much more safe and secure in the relationship because she finds it so wholesome and pure that you would parade your relationship with her
promises you that if she ever gets a phone you'll be her forever wallpaper, she'd probably match with you
if you ever mentioned wanting a mew one i feel like she'd suprise you with a painting of a different photo that has just as much value, so it's even more personal

he is absolutely speechless and gets super flustered when he sees the photo as your wallpaper, it makes him tear up, it's such a small gesture but it means so much
immediately changes his to one of you both that only he has, but he most likely takes forever deciding between the options
it boosts his confidence so much and he absolutely loves to brag about it with the eternals
or with your human friends
"y/n? what's your lockscreen again?" before you can even answer he just buts in with a giant grin "it's a picture of us on our first anniversary"

absolutely whipped when he sees it, he swears he'd do anything for you
immediately forces you to take another pick with him for his background, the more unprepared and hectic the better
he just loes the idea of any pursuers of either of you instantly backimg off when they see tue adoration and dedication im the picture

it just leaves her grinning all day, she absolutely adores the photo
and plus the thought of you loving the picture so much fills her with happiness
she suddenly messages you a few hours later while you're at work and asks you for your favourite picture of yourself, you get home a few hours later and notice it's her phone wallpaper, she edited kt slightly by writing "my love" underneath in her cursive and writing and the date she asked you to be her partner

it's an absolute blessing to him because he loves seeing your smile in the photo every time you open your phone
he loves your reaction everytime because it's almost like you've never looked at it before
when he first sees it he just smiles slightly and chuckles, wrapping an arm around you before kissing you on the head. the smile doesn't leave his face for days

she grins as soon as she sees it and wraps you in a hug
she's so over the moon that you treasure her enough to show her off to the world
asks you to send the exact photo to her so she can set it as hers to. she'll change it slightly though, she'll probably write "my forever darling" with a line eventually curling into a heart under it
looks at it everday, for a little linger each time, with literal heart eyes
