there are always the obvious; the smell of clean laundry, whatever it is he uses to get blood out of of bruce’s suit, rubbing alcohol for when stitches are needed.
then there are things like strawberry ice cream. the first time barbara had felt she disappointed bruce and alfred sat her down with a bowl to pick her up. something comforting in a time of need. sometime’s she smells fresh vanilla bloom and is reminded of lazy sunday’s and the tea he’d offer her. fragrant and completely gentle. — and of course the smell of an old, crisp book. not entirely overcome with the scent of mildew but enough to understand it’s age. one she had borrowed from him and forgot to never gave back. it turned out to be her favourite.
