Jasper and I had fun at the fair! We got 2nd place with my mom on horseback. Her horse says “blessed be” and Jasper says “we’ve been sent good weather/We Remember them” 

The yellow/black vest is a different day and we went to walk around and eat fair food. I was super disappointed in the fall in quality :c 

My county fair is a family tradition, each year someone in our family is in the parade, and since most of our family has moved or on bad terms, or passed away, my mom and I do it every year since I aged out of 4-H. This year we’re Handmaids in mourning from the Handmaid’s tale as a small way to protest our county’s policies.

They already made a solution to the whole horse poop problem, they're horse diapers and they were originally for carriage horses so they didn't poop on the road and have it pile up in town. Tada! No stopping you lazy people.

Considering I’m getting pushback for recommending what other equestrians have recommended, aka kicking the poop off the trail which requires almost no effort on the rider’s part outside of dismount/kick/mount, I don’t think it’s a “we don’t have a solution” problem. I think it’s a “I don’t feel like doing this and thus I don’t have to and you have to just be okay with it” problem.

Much harder to solve stubborn apathy, entitlement, and an inconsiderate nature than it is to be considerate of others who may be sharing a space with you.

People with service dogs aren’t enslaving their dogs. We allow them to play and be dogs and take breaks. They are our partners, they wouldn’t work if they didn’t want to. 

Please don’t ever try to grab a service dog handler’s leash without permission. Even if that handler is down. Their dog knows their job in events like that, and interfering could severely injure the handler or even cause death.

So I was trying to get an alert on camera, I got myself crying but I didn’t expect him to do a take-down. But I’m happy with that! I have break him of this habit of sticking his butt up in the air when he does dpt lol.

Had the best day at walmart I’ve had for years. I was with my mom and Jasper and I never felt anxious or worried the whole time. I didn’t worry about my dog not doing what he’s supposed to, I didn’t worry about people, I wasn’t panicked or anxious at all. 

And a lady followed us! Usually that would be a huge trigger for me, but I was able to rationalize it in my head as her just being curious about a service dog. She never said anything, just walked and watched him work. 

Jasper did awesome! I think I could do a full shopping trip with him by myself now.

Last night I ran into walmart with Jasper to get a new phone, I shattered my other one. 

I was in the phone section crouched down with Jasper beside me in a sit, it was super obvious I was reading phone specs etc. 

Jasper looks sideways and I glance to see what he’s staring at, and these two people are just standing there staring at me. I move him closer, figuring I’m in their way or something and keep doing my thing, and they stand there staring and finally the woman says “OH a doooooooog!” 

I stand up and have a conversation with them to satisfy them, but man did that throw me off. It really set off my paranoia so I kinda booked it out of the store as soon as I paid, but I didn’t have a panic attack with Jasper there. I’m very happy with that, since I was already kind of panicking when I left for the store (stores are stressful for me).

Almost dog attack 5/4/18

I met up with my friend Jennie with Titan. We did the mall, and everything was awesome until we hit the apple store. There was another team there with her dog under the chair, a chocolate lab in a program vest. The dog didn't see us at first, we surprised him. As soon as that dog made eye contact with ours, he lunged and sounded terrifying. The handler got him back into a down stay and said in passing that he had been attacked a couple years ago. The dog stayed in his down and didn't bark again. I'm so glad I had Jasper's camera on him, if the dog had gotten loose and bitten Jasper. I would have gotten in between any dog trying to bite my dog, but there's the chance a dog is faster than me. It's such a gray situation, there's so many variables that make it so we can't really judge the handler of the chocolate lab. Were one of our dogs a breed that attacked him? How long have they been working on this issue? Did she know he'd react like that? Is she advised by her program's trainers? Did two dogs surprising him throw him over his threshold? Did she know two dogs would throw him over his threshold?

The fact he recovered quickly and didn't break his down stay shows two dogs being in a store with him wouldn't make him react if not surprised. I think we just caught an unfortunate moment in a long line of progress.
