“Nik didn’t want me to say anything but... she’s bedridden and can’t stop me. So, yeah.... Niki’s developed pre-eclampsia, and it’s bad enough that the doctor recommends inducing labour today before any damage is done to her, or the baby. I know it’s still half a month early, but if all goes well, they both should be okay.”

“So, if everything goes according to plan, the new baby should be delivered today. Wish her luck, okay?”

“DADDY!” Aura literally tackled her Dad as he came out of Midori’s room, and hugged him tightly, “It’s my birthday today! It’s my birthday!”

After what felt like a small eternity, the door opened up and a Doctor exited out. He asked Shii to step aside, and he hurriedly obeyed. 

“I apologize for keeping you waiting, Mr. Yawa.” The Doctor said in a cool, professional tone.  “Ya better be!” Shii snapped, without meaning too, he stepped towards the Doctor, and felt his hands clench into fists at his sides, “What’s going on? Is Nikita alright?”  “Nikita will be fine.” The Doctor nodded. 

“There was a slight problem during labour.” He continued, “It appeared that the placenta ruptured during labour - possibly due to the preeclampsia.”  “And?” Shii pressed.  “There was evidence of hemorrhaging, and in order to save both Nikita and your baby’s life, we had to go have an emergency cesarean.” The Doctor explained, but then suddenly paused. 

“While the operation was a success, and we managed to stop the bleeding.” He paused again, “Unfortunately... the baby’s heart had stopped beating halfway through the procedure.”  And that was the moment Shii swore his own heart stopped beating, “It’s not...” “We were able to resuscitate her.” The Doctor replied, rather quickly, “She’s rather weak, and not out of the woods just yet. But for now, we would just like to ask you to be patient, until we’re done, and then you can go in and meet your new baby girl.”

A girl... Shii suddenly remembered to breath, and let out a deep sigh in relief. He nearly fell backwards, “So... she’s okay? They’re both okay?” “Yes.” The Doctor nodded, “Both Mother and Baby are currently stable. Nikita is still unconscious, but as a Jirachi, after some Rest she should make a full recovery.” Shii bit down on his bottom lip for a moment, “And... the species? If she’s a Yveltal then-” well, then what just happened would make perfect sense, and he’d have to go through the whole process he did with Kai all over again, “If she’s a Yveltal, then I need to see her right away.”

The Doctor looked concerned for a second, “We’ll investigate that right away.”

Shii stared after his daughter and her mate as they left the room, and continued to stare with a dumbstruck expression for a few moments more.

“This isn’t happening.” He sighed, as he turned away from the door, and turned to preoccupy himself with picking up the clothing. The whole thing had happened so quickly, that he hadn’t really had time to process it. 

He nearly dropped the bundle of clothing he was trying to gather in his own frustration, “Dammit.”

Mewmas Promise

Shii groaned, and leaned over to hit the off button on his alarm clock. He leaned up and ran his hands down his face. 

It was Mewmas Eve. The Castle would be closed for regular business today, so he didn’t have to worry about getting up for work. So then... why did he forget to shut off his alarm last night?!

Shii shook his head, and pushed his long, messy hair over his shoulders. He didn’t even have to look in a mirror to know what sort of messy bed-head he must have. 

He went to stand up, when he heard a noise behind him, and looked over his shoulder at his mate, “Sorry, Nik! Didn’t mean ta wake ya!” He twisted around on the bed, crawled over to her side, and leaned over her, before leaning down to lay a quick, light peck on her lips, “Mornin’ Niki! Merry Mewmas Eve!”
