My head is SCREAMING.
My pastor asked me if I had any ideas for an Easter skit about a week ago. I was blessed by an awesome idea from God that turned out to be a very cool Indiana Jones nod that I am so very proud of and I love immensely. The thing is, I like to provide options when I offer scripts, because then my pastor has some choices. SO I’m trying to write more.
I had this really cool revelation from God recently about one of the thieves crucified with Jesus, the one who said, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” The one who knew Jesus was an innocent man. It occurred to me that perhaps, the cross wasn’t the first time his path had crossed with Jesus’s. Maybe he had heard a message or two, or listened to His teachings, but continued living a life of thievery for whatever reason. Yet God still loved him, and still accepted him- “Today, you will be with me in paradise.” and I wanted to illustrate that no matter how lost or far from God you are, He still completely loves you, and is there for you the moment you reach for him. I wrote about five versions of it and nothing stuck. There was nothing I liked enough to even finish. At the risk of sounding vain, that’s really unlike me. I can get an idea, sit down, write it out, and see it through. So that was very very frustrating.
Trying to come up with other ideas. I have ideas, but nothing I like as much as the Indy nod. It’s not writer’s block. It just feels unnecessary. Like there’s no need for a second script, because the first one is the winner. I had this same thing happen at Christmas when I wrote what became our Christmas Eve skit. (Hoping to post that to my film company’s YouTube page soon. Just need to edit it a bit.) So maybe it’s unnecessary to write more. Who knows.
All I know is, I have so many cool things in my head that I want to express. I want to talk about the resurrection of the body of Christ. How we’re truly coming alive. How we are stepping into a brand new era of what God has in store for us. How we are MORE HIS HANDS AND FEET THAN WE EVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE. How far His will for us truly goes! RESURRECTION POWER RUNS IN OUR VEINS TOO. WE HAVE THE SAME POWER JESUS HAD. He GAVE IT TO US. It was part of the great exchange! THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO SALVATION THAN WE ARE TAUGHT. Listen to people like Reverend Jim Hockaday. Todd White. Steven Furtick. God’s bringing us into something new and completely amazing. He’s got plans for us we couldn’t even fathom. I AM SO EXCITED I CANNOT HOLD IT BACK. It’s like the song Rattle, Glorious Day, King of Glory, There’s Nothing My God Cannot Do, all those references to coming out of the grave, dry bones awaken, and dead on serious, the entirety of Rattle by Elevation, which, if you haven’t heard, please do. It’s AMAZING. The Church is truly coming alive for the first time since Christianity was born, and it’s incredible. I think perhaps, what I need to write isn’t a skit, but a message of my own. I used to have the honor of preaching back in my youth group days. I miss it fiercely. I don’t want to be a pastor. But I do like sharing what I know of God and His Word, His promises, and His love for us. AND MY GOSH. WHAT HE HAS TRULY GIVEN US IN SALVATION.
It’s so much more than we’ve been taught.
As Todd White says, Jesus didn’t just pay that price to get us into Heaven.
He paid that price to get Heaven into us.
