basic info
Hello! This blog is pretty much what it says on the tin - running from a queue, I post daily songs with English lyrics sung by some sort of vocal synthesizer software, whether that be Vocaloid, Synthesizer V, UTAU, or any of the other ever-expanding options out there. It's more or less random; I try to post songs to coincide with characters' birthdays/anniversaries, but lots of them share those dates, and not all of them have many English songs, so not every character gets a post every year. I'm also more likely to post some dark/spooky songs in October because I love Halloween. Otherwise, the only real guiding principle is not to post too many similar-sounding songs in a row.
A few notes!
There's just the one mod on this blog, and you can call me Kay or Wayward (they/them). I dabble a little in vocalsynth covers and originals, and you can find my work over at @wondersmith39.
Requests are always open! I love finding out what music other people are enjoying! I'm also happy to accept submissions from any artists looking to self-promote, so feel free to submit your own songs. If you send a bunch of requests, I might not feature them all right away, but like I said, things run on a queue, so it's easy for me to just add something to the lineup.
I try to put content warnings wherever they are applicable, but I'm just doing them case-by-case, so apologies in advance if anything ever slips through. You can request that I tag something specific if you're concerned that it's going to come up a lot, but in general, the things I most often screen for are flashing lights/eyestrain, themes or images of violence, sex, or severe mental health issues like depression or psychosis, and anything to do with self harm or suicide. The warnings will be in the text description of the post, not the tags.
I do not feature songs that use generative AI art in the video'. If I have accidentally done so, please please please tell me so I can take it down. I don't care how good the song is, I don't condone that nonsense.
As much as I love learning new things about this community and all the people in it, I am perpetually out of the loop with anything that might be considered "drama." I don't usually know when anyone is considered ~problematic~ or anything, and unless they've done something really egregious, I'd rather not know. I post the songs for their own merit.
For the vocalsynth super-fans out there, I also have a podcast called Happy Synthesizers! I do a deep dive on one vocalsynth-related topic per episode, and I also conduct interviews with creators. I am open to a cold-call if you want to discuss being featured! You can find more information over at @happysynthesizerspod, which will also have links to all the listening platforms I'm on.
If you've read this far, thank you so much! Enjoy the music!
