“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” Luke 1:34
Once again let's meditate on Mary's predicament and how she overcame it. Mary was a young girl who had a future ahead of her. She was greatly troubled when she heard the announcement that she was to give birth to a Son who would be the King forever. She asked, “How can this be . . . since I am a virgin?” But Gabriel replied that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and the power of the Lord would overshadow her. Mary's immediate response was, “I am the Lord’s maid servant, let it be to me according to Your word. ”
Like Mary we sometimes feel frightened, anxious and overwhelmed about the task to which we are called. It seems insurmountable. But His Spirit is the one who enables us to accomplish the task, He entrusts us with.
So go forth in confidence that Jesus will see you through.
