“You're a forever kind of person to me.”
Taron had already shaken himself out, ignoring how cold he was, trying to stop his whole body from shivering and concentrate on the scene in front of him. The pouring rain from above, was freezing, the cold water from the rain machine, falling hard and fast. Though the weather had brightened up finally, the temperature rising too, the bitter water used to create their need for rain was almost arctic and he had been exposed to it for the last few hours and he could definitely feel a permanent chill seeping through him. He pushed his hands in under his arm pits, trying to heat them up, bouncing lightly on his feet trying to get his blood working a little around his body to create some heat. Normally the crew would throw himself and Grabriel a towel or blanket in-between takes but Matthew has assured them it would be a very quick two minutes before they were ready to start again. That was at least fifteen minutes ago and himself and Grabriel were throwing glances at each other as they tried to find ways to keep moving.
They had started filming much earlier that day compared to the last two to get the most of the out of the light, with Matthew also planning to get his own sunset shot before dinner. At the moment they were standing waiting for Matthew to call action so they could get going again. Taron tried to keep in the right mindset for the scene, holding onto the tension needed but as the chill deepened into his skin, it was getting a bit more difficult to concentrate on the friction, fear and uneasiness he had to portray against Grabriel’s anger and rage, running through his lines in his head to keep his mind from thinking constantly about how frozen he was. Matthew had wanted to get these scenes done as the dusk hit but Taron had a feeling dinner was going to be delayed as he could already see the sun starting to move low in the skyline so figured once they had completed the part of the script they were currently working on, it would be a quick change and then onto his own next few pages. His rumbling stomach protested a little and his body shivered once more but being used to the changes found on a set, he never expected scenes to run exactly as planned. Hopping around in circles, earning a deep chuckle from Gabriel, he wished for his little cardio session to start working but although it was definitely getting his heart pumping a little, it wasn’t helping to get any heat into him.
They were waiting for Matthew to get his camera in the perfect position and he had asked for the rain to continue to ensure that the ground stayed wet for consistency, but it also meant that the actors were getting wetter if it was possible. Taron had no wet suit on under his clothes and while in the pool, wearing one definitely helped to keep some body heat in, now it was a completely different story and he shook his head, water flying in all directions, his shoulders lifting in a cringe as the large water droplets dripped down his back. He took his hands out from under his arms and ran them through his hair, and wiped the water that was spilling down his face in long drips. With a little unhappy moan he shoved his hands under his arms again, going back to his hopping, from one foot to the other, glancing toward Matthew to see if he was anywhere near ready to get going again.
Trying to distract himself once more, he thought about his weekend and day off, hopefully two days off. Beyond excited at getting to spend some time with Robyn again, his face filled with a frown for a moment as he worried about her last phone call with him earlier. Thinking her blood results would have been in by now, it definitely left him feeling anxious about her health, a part of him wishing she would have stayed at home just in case but then the other ninety-nine percent couldn’t wait to see her. He knew he would never talk her out of her traveling to see him and as this was his last trip to Belfast for filming unless they needed some re-shoots, he didn’t want to turn her away. He thought it would have been so much easier for them to see each other when they were on the same island but it actually was just as hard to arrange a time to see each other. As his filming now moved back to London for the end of the shoot, it definitely made him quite sad to think she couldn’t just drive to him when she wanted, when he wanted, so in a way was secretly delighted with her insistence to come and see him, one long hug coming his way soon, one that would definitely help warm him up.
In saying that though, amid his excitement, he was still concerned about her. Robyn was always so strong, and while she was definitely letting him see her vulnerability more, trusting him completely with her true feelings and emotions, when it came to her health, he had never once seen her sick or ill, Robyn admitting herself her immune system was pretty strong. It seemed though, that something had finally taken its toll on her and it did bother him a lot that it was taking such a long time for any kind of result to come through on her blood test. It kinda frustrated him that he couldn’t actually use his name to make the results happen quicker and had to wait. It was never something he ever took advantage of but when it came to people he loved, he only wanted the best for them and knew Robyn was having a hard time lately. He hated to think of her in pain, knowing her headaches had become more frequent, her tiredness definitely becoming more persistent too. While he knew he was working late, he was glad to know Robyn could take full advantage of his quiet rented apartment for her days with him, really taking the time to just let her body re-energise itself, Taron more than willing to give her as many hugs and cuddles she wanted over the weekend.
He hadn’t made any extensive plans for Saturday except for dinner in a nice restaurant some of the Irish crew had recommended to him, wanting them to just roam around Belfast with no particular plans so they could just wander and walk and see where the day led them. Sunday was another story and if the cast and crew managed to get the day off, Taron was just going to suggest a completely chilled out day in the apartment watching movies and doing nothing much else. He was pretty sure Robyn would happily sit with him and just relax together, so easy going in her personality that he had already got a supply of things into the apartment to keep them occupied including a game of Twister and some other bits and bobs that he was sure would make her laugh. The thought of it all made a wide grin fill his face and he forgot how cold he was for a moment.
“Right you have been grinning like the cat who got the cream for the last minute. What’s up?” Taron turned around and stopped jumping, looking to Grabriel, his face now a flushed with a new embarrassment. “Oh let me guess, Robyn?”
Taron nodded, the left side of his lips rising in a shy smile. “She is coming to visit this weekend. Well actually, today.”
Gabriel moved a bit closer to the younger man. “Another set visit?” He asked giving Taron a light nudge. “Is she bringing us cookies?”
Taron chuckled, shaking his head and then lifting his shoulders in a shrug, his hands still under his arms. “No idea. Probably but who knows.”
“Well young man you know how I feel about her, I know how you feel about her, so I am delighted to hear she is coming back to see you. I can see why are you are just as invested as me to get these scenes done today as perfect as we can.”
“You are going to see your family at the weekend, right?”
“Yes sir but would be great to have an extra day with them but then I don’t need to tell you that. You definitely would like an extra day with Robyn!” Grabriel grinned.
“I will take any time with her. It can be so short that an extra day would be amazing.” He looked to Matthew who was finally behind the camera and not in front of it any more. “Hopefully we will be up and running soon.” His whole body gave an involuntary shudder.
“Bloody hope so.” Gabriel agreed.
As Gabriel’s words petered off, Matthew did a quick jog over to them with an umbrella, even though he was wearing a raincoat. “Right sorry. Got the camera fixed. We are ready to go. Let’s go from Gabriel’s last line and roll from there. I am just going to get Stephanie to top up some effects first and then we will go.”
On que, Stephanie appeared behind Matthew with her own umbrella another crew member beside her holding her make up box and a second umbrella.
“You had to keep the rain going?” She asked. “Couldn’t stop it.” Her voice was clearly laced with sarcasm.
“Needed too Steph.”
“Sure. Right, Taron you first. Hold this for me.” She handed him the umbrella, and stepped under the larger one with the other crew member. “Matthew give that umbrella to Gabriel, will you? The guys are freezing here and at least I can work better with them when they are not being flooded with rain and getting continuously wet.”
Matthew did as he was asked, giving his umbrella to the older actor, then turned and jogged back towards his camera. Stephanie gave Taron’s face a gentle dry with a towel and quickly reapplied some of the bruising and blood effects at his eye and lip that had been slightly washed away from the water. He was thankful for the brief break in the wet weather, but found that he was even colder now as his body slowly adjusted to the temperature of the rain.
“No frowning.” Stephanie told him, pressing a finger to his forehead.
“Sorry.”
“I know you are cold.”
“Just a bit.”
“We are nearly done.”
“Yup.”
“Isn’t your Robyn coming today?” She asked, tilting his head up a little so she could dab some dark coloured powders along his jaw. “You should be jumping for joy.”
He wanted to grin at Stephanie’s words, but knew he had to keep his face still. “She is and…”
“No talking!” The make-up artist lightly tapped his nose.
“But you…” Taron rolled his eyes as Stephanie flicked his nose again and he closed his mouth, keeping quiet.
“Better. Nearly done.” She added some more light blood effects to his bottom lip and then reached for his hands. “A little bit more and then it’s your turn Gabriel.”
“Yes mam.” Gabriel answered tipping an invisible hat.
“See Taron. That is how you talk to a lady.”
Stephanie giggled at Taron’s face, dabbing some purple and blue shadows on the knuckles of his right hand. “Especially one that bakes for you.”
Taron remained tight lipped holding onto the umbrella. His face had suddenly grown warm knowing well it was the rush of blood to his cheeks from a deep blush but not wanting to be subjected to any more teasing, already getting a lot of stick from his friends back home, he just nodded to one of his favourite people on set.
“And done. Keep that umbrella Taron until Matthew says for it to be thrown away, ok? Need to keep this face as perfect as we can.”
“Sure.”
It took Stephanie less than two minutes to dry and repaint Gabriel’s hands, a little on his face too but more so his hands as his character put Taron’s through another painful beating.
“Right. Good to go. Just throw the two brollys out of the scene, as far as you can. We have the runners ready to catch them.”
Stephanie gave both a quick smile, and huddling under the umbrella of her assistant, walked out of rain, off the set and back behind the camera.
“Ok Steph?” Matthew asked. Seeing her nod, he turned back to the camera. “Right loose the umbrellas.” He shouted, watching as Taron and Gabriel chucked their shelter away. “And action!”
As soon as Taron closed the umbrella and felt the rain on him again, he whimpered a little. Colder than it had been, he was so thankful for the word action and went straight into character mode, playing immediately off Gabriel’s anger, knowing the cold he was feeling would only add to the fear he was meant to be portraying, the shivering working in his favour as he was pushed to the ground, groaning not only from the feeling of the cold wet grass but also to portray the agony he should be feeling as he was kicked by his on-screen dad. It took three very long takes before Matthew was fully happy and when Taron heard the word ‘cut’ yelled loudly across the open pool area, his body gave a deep shudder knowing he could finally get somewhat dry. After a quick hug of celebration with Grabriel at completing another scene, he was so glad to feel the heavy rain stop, and took in a cold shaky breathe as he let go of Grabriel, feeling the same chill on the older man’s skin which was on his.
He felt a towel being thrown over his shoulders and thanked one of the runners with his eyes and he pulled it tight around his body, the material much too light to warm him up, never mind take some of the soakage of the water all over him. Matthew joined them, giving them another round of hugs, talking a mile a minute about how brilliant the scene looked on camera, how he couldn’t wait to show them the playback. Taron was only half listening as he wrapped the towel tighter around himself, water dripping down every part of him. Thanking Joe as another towel was thrown around him, he knew the two white towels would never be enough to even try to warm his body up and now that this particular scene had finished, he really wanted to get back to his trailer to have a shower, to warm up.
“Taron, I really want to try and get your last scene filmed before we lose the light. We should get it done pretty quickly.”
“Yeah sure.” Taron nodded, agreeing.
“I can see it getting done in one take Taron. Only about twenty minutes or so.”
“Yeah Matthew that’s fine. Can I just go and warm up a little first please? Normally I would go straight into filming but my fingers are going numb.”
“Yeah, go. Grab a warm drink. We have a good hour of the sunset left. I am sure you are frozen. Gabriel you too but I won’t need you again until after dinner.”
With a grin, and definite speed in his step, Gabriel walked away, leaving Taron, Joe and Matthew standing together.
“Taron, how long do you need?” Matthew asked. “Five, ten minutes?”
“Well, I just…”
“Let me interrupt you for a quick second.” Joe stepped a little closer to the Welshman. “Robyn is here.”
Taron had been curled up a little trying to keep the heat in his body but as soon as he heard Robyn’s name, he stood up straight, one of the towels slipping a little. “Robyn? She is here?” He asked, looking at Joe.
“Yeah. Arrived over an hour ago. She is waiting behind the camera. Decided not to make an entrance this time.” He said with a grin.
Taron turned to Matthew, a look of slight desperate hope on his face. “We really need to catch sunset tonight.” The director said to him. “We won’t get a chance tomorrow. It’s mostly pool work.” Seeing a pure look of longing on Taron’s face, Matthew’s softened. “I can give you half an hour at most Taron and that includes a change for you and make up with Stephanie and to be back here ready to film.”
“I will, I promise.” Taron spun around to Joe one more. “Robyn?”
“Right behind the camera. Sitting on a chair.”
A smile filled his face and with a haste in his footsteps, walked away, grinning as Matthew shouted after him to watch his time management. Hurrying across the wet grass and then the pavement, he still felt extremely cold but excited to be getting to see Robyn again, knowing she was finally so close to him. Watching his step as he walked over cables, and camera tracks, he came to the edge of the set and moved past the filming gear and a smile just naturally appeared on his face as he finally saw her. Dressed in her normal casual attire of jeans and a top, his racing heart and flipping stomach were definitely letting him know he was excited to be near her but as he got closer to her, he could see the obvious tiredness on her face, horribly dark circles under her eyes, so similar to those on his face after a long shoot. Even more determined to get to her, his speed increased a little and when he realised that she saw him and her face smiled, he grinned back at her.
“Hello you!” He called when he was a few feet from her, watching her get up from the chair to meet him. “So good to see you.”
“You too!” Robyn automatically opened her arms for a hug, and frowned when Taron didn’t walk into her as he always did. “Erm hello? Squishy hug?” She almost demanded.
“I am all wet. We were filming in the rain.”
Robyn nodded. “Yeah I know, I saw. I watched you working but it is only water and I am sure you are cold and need a squishy hug to help warm you up a bit.”
“Robyn, literally soaked through and even with the towels you will…” Taron’s words were cut off as Robyn walked right up to him and wrapped her arms around him under the two towels, sliding them around his back, pulling him right into her, gripping him even tighter when he tried to protest but as he felt the warmth from her body melt into his, her face in his neck, he groaned happily and snuck his arms around her back too, really pressing himself into her. “Fuck yes.” He muttered, burying his own face into her neck.
“Jesus you are freezing.”
“So warm.” He moaned squishing himself against her.
“And wet!” Robyn chuckled as Taron pulled her even closer to him, really embracing her tight, definitely feeling some wetness from his clothes soak into hers but she didn’t dare let him go. While he wasn’t his usual warm self, his body was comforting to her and he felt so lovely as he hugged her tight. “It’s so nice to see you.”
“Hmm you too.” Completely overtaken by how warm Robyn was, Taron knew he needed to let go of her, to step back but her heat was so pleasant against his cold body, he was craving it. Rubbing his nose into the soft skin of her neck again, Taron knew he really really should break the hug but she felt so good cuddled neatly into him and she was so warm.
Robyn smiled, even though his breath was cold against her skin, loved how snuggly he was already with her and she lifted her right hand to slip it into his hair, giving the back of his head a light scratch. She could feel him shivering and gave his back a long rub in circles too, her fingers copying the same movements in his hair.
“Hmm fucking perfect.” He whispered.
“You need to warm up, shower. You will get sick.”
“Hmmm.” He murmured, using his nose to brush her shirt away from her shoulder so he could get his cheek to more warm skin. “So nice.”
“Taron…” Robyn gave his back another long rub and then went to take a step back from him but he was holding her very tight, his face still nuzzled into her shoulder. “Taron, hun, you really need to get properly warmed up and I am pretty sure you have another scene to film too.”
The reality of the fact that he was on set and working quickly came crashing back down on Taron and with a long sigh, followed by a shiver, he let go of Robyn, giving her a soft smile. “Sorry.”
“No need. I know you are frozen.” She smiled at him, lifting her hand to cup his cheek, his skin still bitter cold.
“That water is a bitch and we have been under it for most of the day.”
“Well then, a shower is definitely what you need and something warm to drink. How long have you got?”
“About twenty-five minutes, including a trip to the make-up trailer.” Robyn just about rolled her eyes. “And that is because you are here. Matthew wanted me back in ten.”
“Well we had better get going then. I do not want you to get sick or miss any part of your schedule.” Robyn slipped her arm in under the towel and around his back, bringing his body close to her and together they started to walk in the direction of the trailers. “You looked good out there.”
“Really?” He questioned. “Did you even watch it?”
Robyn chuckled a little. “Most of it. It’s… Well it is… I mean…”
“It is hard for you, yeah chicken I know.” Taron gave her side a little rub. “So you got here ok?”
“Hmm it was fine. Google maps the whole way.” She answered him through a yawn.
“You ok?” Taron felt how long the yawn was, how her shoulders lifted for a quite a while with it.
“Yeah I am ok. Tired…” She said, and he could hear the irritation in her voice of still feeling not quite herself but let her continue. “And a bit of a headache. I took some tablets, stole a fizzy drink from the table.” She felt Taron move his arm around her back and creep it around her shoulders, pulling her closer into him. “But I am good.”
“Still tired?” He asked.
Robyn shrugged. “No idea Taron. Been sleeping fine, not working any extra over time and I get home and crash hard.”
“Wish your results were back.”
“You and me both.” She agreed. “You are so cold Taron.” Now as they walked together, their steps in sync and their sides mushed together, she could still feel him shivering, how his body was trembling. “You really been under the rain all day?”
He nodded, guiding her to the right as they came towards the trailers. “It stopped and started but mostly stayed on and we finally got the scene done which is great. I just have my own to finish and then that’s another part done.” They reached Taron’s trailer and though he hated having to leave her heat, stepped away from her and walked three footsteps to the right and from under a flower pot beside the steps, he picked up a key. “Got the idea from you.” He grinned, walking up the two steps to unlock his trailer door. “Come on in.”
The inside of the trailer was exactly the same as the last time she was in it and she made sure to close the door behind her, her eyes falling to Taron as he shed himself of the towels. His shirt was clinging to him, his jeans dark in colour from the water and she could still visibly see him shaking.
“You really need to go and warm up. I will make you some tea.”
Now back in his trailer, the thoughts of a hot shower were the only thing on Taron’s mind and he stepped past Robyn towards the bedroom, wanting to grab some clean dry clothes before he went into the bathroom. “Coffee please.” He called, his body disappearing for a moment. “Going to need to it.” He reappeared with a pair of sweatpants and some boxers in his hands. “Still have half the day to go. Give me two minutes.”
“Two?” Robyn’s eyes opened wide as she took her shoulder bag off. “You need at least ten if not fifteen to fully warm up.”
With a smile, Taron stopped beside her and placed a cold kiss on her cheek. “Busy life of an actor. I have two. Please make yourself at home. You know where everything is.” He walked away from her and into the small bathroom but before he closed the door, he popped his head out to her. “I am glad you were able to come this weekend Robyn.” With a little smile, he then closed the door, leaving Robyn by herself. “So you managed not to rush onto the set today?” He called through the bathroom door as he started to strip himself of his wet clothes.
“Really Taron?”
“What?”
“Shower and then come out to talk to me.”
With a chuckle Taron, shouted his agreement back and after struggling to get out of his wet t-shirt, the material really clinging to his skin, he worked on his jeans. Much harder than he expected he nearly fell over trying to pull them off his feet. Standing in just a soaked pair or boxers, he turned on the shower, knowing well to keep the temperature low in the beginning. Taking a minute to clear any remaining make up from his face, he then carefully shrugged out of his underwear and stepped into the water, his whole-body shuddering at first before the heat from the water slowly started to defrost him. He turned the heat gauge up a few and stood face first under the spray, his body soaking up the warmth. He gave his hair a thirty second wash and rinse, his body the same and turned off the water. With a towel wrapped around his waist, his core still felt frozen, knowing well the three-minute shower was definitely not enough to thoroughly restore his body temperature but he was so pushed for time and desperately wanted five minutes with Robyn before he had to go to make-up. Drying off, he slipped into his clothes, sighing a little as the soft material settled against his skin. Having been in wet clothes for such long time, it was so nice to be in something dry. Using the same towel that dried his body, he quickly rubbed his hair, dropping the towel on the sink, his face falling when he realised, he was going to have wet all over again for his next scene.
“Fuck’s sake.” He muttered to himself and didn’t even know why he bothered to try and warm up. “Idiot.” Picking up the towel again, he continued to dry his hair, still frowning at himself in the mirror. He had been so cold, it was just natural to want to get warm but it completely slipped his mind that his next scene called for him to still be soaked through as it was a continuation of where they had just stopped. The thoughts of having to be stuck in sodden and soggy clothes again was so disheartening and he sort of wished he hadn’t even bothered to get dry and somewhat warm but it was too late now and he kept rubbing his hair dry, maybe a little more forcefully than needed as he was a little mad at himself for not thinking his upcoming scenes through.
As Taron warmed up in the bathroom, Robyn got the kettle boiling for him, routing through the presses for a cup and some coffee, only finding instant. With a spoon of coffee in the cup, she took the milk from the fridge and was shaking out the sugar packets as the kettle boiled. Stirring the coffee, she brought it to the table, placing it on the opposite side and slipped into the seat. Sitting down, she heard the shower stop and knew well that that quick shower would not have been enough to warm Taron up. He really needed a nice long bath, with lots of bubbles for fun, to help properly heat his chilled body back up.
“Not gonna happen though.” She said to herself, laying her head down on her hands on the table. While her headache had definitely not worsened, it was still there and as always when she sat down, her tiredness kicked in. It felt amazing to be in Taron’s company again and when she was with him, she forgot about all the little things she should be worried about but now alone, well somewhat alone, it gave her time to remember just how not like herself she felt. She lay her head on her arms on the table, closing her eyes, letting a deep breathe fill her. It was so good to know she had finally reached her so called home for the next few days and she could easily sleep on the bed right beside her if she so wished and feeling so jaded as she did now, she was ready to crawl into the covers and sleep but wanted to spend as much time with her most favourite person in the world at the moment as she could.
Taron opened the bathroom door and inwardly groaned as he still shivered once he was back in the little kitchen. “You know, I don’t think I am ever going to feel warm…” He stopped speaking and his whole body softened as he saw Robyn laying with her head on the table. “Robyn…” Walking over to her, he crouched down and gently brushed some loose strands of hair from her face. A little paler then she normally would be, while he knew he had been cold outside, Robyn’s body was like a furnace compared to his but now that he had warmed up a little, her skin was actually cold to touch. Moving his hand to her back, he rubbed it gently, placing his hand over her heart, frowning as it felt it racing. “What is going on with you.” He placed his hand back at her face so lightly stroking her cheek.
“Hmm that’s nice but your hands are still cold.”
Taron’s face fully grinned. “Thought you were asleep.”
“Just resting my eyes.” She opened her right eye and smiled at how close he was to her. “And you need more clothes. You are still cold.” She repeated.
“Your heart is racing.” Taron commented, standing to his full height. “Let me get a jumper.” Into the bedroom, he picked up the first jumper that came to his hands, the green one Robyn got him and pulled it on as he walked back to her. “And you are definitely pale.” He crouched back beside her again. “I am really worried Robyn.” He said quietly. “This just isn’t like you. Doctor Greene really had no answers for you?”
Robyn lifted her head from her hands and shook it. “He thinks I am just stressed, taking on too much at work and just exhausted from it all.” She gave a little smile. “And he mentioned August too. Thinks my mind is just very busy at the moment.”
Taron stood up and squished himself in beside her on the same seat, no hesitation in slipping an arm around her shoulders. “He is probably right too you know.”
“I have slowed down, I promise.”
“I know you have. I know.” Taron gave her a hug. “It is just frustrating that you haven’t got an answer yet. I mean it could be something serious and I have never known blood results to take so long and it seems that vitamin tonic isn’t doing you any good.”
Robyn felt her face lift in a little smile. “Something is definitely helping though.”
“Yeah, what?” Taron asked a little grumpily.
“Being here with you. Squishy hugs. Feeling you a little warmer.” She definitely heard the long exhale he made. “I just have to wait Taron. There isn’t any more I can do and look I have four days off to rest and relax.” She leaned in and cupped his face with her right hand, giving his left cheek a very delicate kiss. “Now your coffee is ready for you. I hope it is ok.” She reached over and slowly pushed the cup towards him. “You need to drink this. I know you are still feeling cold and you probably have five minutes before you need to move to make-up.”
“Is this one of those times I can pull my I don’t wanna cards?” He asked picking up his cup with his free hand, his other still around Robyn.
“I don’t think you have any of those Taron.”
“No?” He asked, then taking a drink from his cup. “Hmm good. Thank you.”
“You are welcome and nope.”
“Aww shit.”
Robyn giggled and moved a little so she could lean her head on his shoulder. “We have Saturday.”
“Yeah I know. Just nice to see you, that’s all.”
“I am not going anywhere.”
“You should go and lay down Robyn. Get some sleep.”
“Ugh no thank you. All I seem to be doing is sleeping lately. I am here to spend time with you.” She sat up a little. “I would like to go and watch the rest of your scene if that’s ok?”
“Really?” Taron asked.
“Yeah, if that is ok. I don’t want to make you nervous.”
“Nope not at all. It is just me by myself for the next scene.”
“And then I know you have dinner.”
“Yeah, probably a good hour and half break before we are back into it for the evening.”
“Ok so here is my plan. Follow you around for the next few hours.” Her words made him grin as she hoped they would. “And then when you are finished dinner and have to go back for your longer shoot, I will get some sleep on the bed here in your trailer. You go off to do your thing and when you are done, wake me and then we can go back to your apartment together.”
“You been doing some thinking there missy.”
Robyn smiled. “Just ya know, thinking.”
“Sounds like a perfect plan.” Taron took a long drink from his cup. “If you want to just stay here now though, you can.”
“And miss out on Tom’s food and the amazing catering spread? I don’t think so.”
Draining the last of his coffee, Taron nodded, a wide smile on his face. “Tom might ask you to make more cookies.”
Robyn chuckled. “I really kinda set a standard there, didn’t I?”
“Hmm just a tad.” Taron mused, looking to the clock above the window beside them. “So I had better get to make-up before Stephanie comes looking for me. You can leave your stuff here if you want.”
“Sure. It’s just my bag. Everything else is in my car. I will keep my phone though.”
Once Taron had locked his trailer and hid his key again, they walked together towards Stephanie’s large make-up trailer, both passing by catering on the way, Robyn glancing in the tent, slowing her walk as she saw Simone setting up some chairs, in a hair net and white plastic apron. They caught each other’s eyes, Robyn giving her a small wave, then smiling as Taron walked past the tent after her, immediately seeing the look of disgust in the woman’s eye. Reaching for Taron’s hand, Robyn stepped a little quicker to be in time with him, encasing his one hand in her two.
It wasn’t until after they had passed the catering tent did Taron speak. “So who did you disagree with now on my behalf?” He asked her, giving her hand a playful squeeze.
“Hmm… no one.”
“Robyn…”
“Someone called Simone.” Robyn answered. “Was at your trailer door earlier.”
With a light laugh, Taron shook his head. “Ahh Simone. Matthew’s new crew help.”
“Help? Not too sure if that accurately describes her. It was Simon that gave your back massage right?”
“Yep. Last week. Fucking amazing one too. Really ironed out those knots for me.” He easily picked up on Robyn’s tone, her softness quickly changing to one that he always recognised as her defensiveness, usually for him. “Lasted a good hour. Felt so good but it was Simon. He has helped me before. Simone has been nowhere near me. Very far away in fact.”
“Hmm yeah?” Robyn replied, kicking a stone.
“Yes Robyn.” He gave her a playful nudge. “Now who is the jealous one.” He teased.
“Not jealous.” Robyn answered quickly. “She was trying to get into your trailer. Insisted she was the PT.”
“Well chicken, she is not. That job is saved for Simon and you every other time.” They reached the make-up trailer, Taron pulling open the door for her. “Nothing to get your knickers in twist over.” He grinned.
“I am not getting my knickers in a twist!” She huffed, walking up the steps past him, giving him a little push as she went. “Hi Stephanie.”
“Robyn!” The make-up artist greeted her with a hug. “Good to see you again. Come, come in and sit down. How are you?”
“Yeah good, Stephanie and you?”
“Good thanks. Taron you know the drill.” She indicated to the chair in front of him, and he took a seat, Stephanie fluffed out the make-up cape, covering him up. “You are in for another drowning.”
“Yeah I know.” He groaned.
“Wait what?” Robyn asked as she took the chair next to him.
“I forgot it’s a continuous scene.” He explained. “So where Gabriel and I left off, my character continues on from so I am going to have to be drenched again.”
“Oh no Taron. You barely just got warm.”
“Don’t I know it but at least it’s the last water related scene for the day. After dinner we are back on dry land so to speak.”
“You are going to get so sick from this.”
“I will be ok. When we finish, I can shower longer later.”
“Right we need to get you set up or Matthew is going to be chasing you.” Stephanie stood behind his chair.
Taron looked to Robyn, seeing a sadness on her face and reached over for her hand. “It will all be fine. Promise.”
“Bloody water scenes.” She mumbled, turning back towards the mirror, letting Stephanie get to work on Taron’s face, adding similar cuts and bruises to those he had before, giving one or two a bit of a deeper dept. It took her less than ten minutes, leaving Taron the last minute of his half an hour to get changed.
“Same outfit as before Taron. Ready to go behind the curtain.” Stephanie pulled the black cape from his shoulders and Taron got to his feet, following her directions, pulling his jumper off as he went. Stephanie took the vacant seat and turned to Robyn. “So, you’ve met Simone?” She asked.
“Hmm yes, earlier.”
There was a moment of silence before Stephanie spoke. “That’s all you’ve got for me?”
Robyn gave her a wide smile. “I am afraid to say any more. My mouth normally gets me into heaps of trouble and I am trying to change my ways.”
“Don’t believe her.” Taron’s voice sounded light as he spoke loudly, his words becoming a little muffled as he pulled on a shirt. “She has no intention of changing.”
“Hey you, it’s never steered me wrong yet.”
“So like I said, you have met Simone then.” Stephanie moved her chair closer to Robyn’s.
“Hmm yeah. We had a chat.”
“She hasn’t been near him.” She whispered. “You don’t need to be worried.”
“I am not.”
Stephanie gave Robyn a wink just as Taron came out from behind the changing curtain, dressed in the same jeans and shirt as he had been for his previous scene, just this time he was a lot drier.
“And I am on time.” He said, leaving his folded clothes on the white vanity.
“I will pop these back in your trailer for you.” Stephanie stood up and pushed the chair in.
“Key is under the flower pot.” Taron said, giving himself a quick look in the mirror, giving Robyn a little grin at her face. “Right to stay on time, I had better make a move.” Looking to Robyn, he leaned a little against the chair Stephanie had been sitting in. “You still sure you wanna come with me?”
“Absolutely.” Standing up, she made her way to the door of the trailer. “So you coming?”
“Yep. Let’s get this last scene done. See you later Stephanie.”
