To kick off 2016 in style YM2 is back and hosted by none other than Dave Fields. We’re very choosy on who we bring on for our Yuuung mixes because we aim to showcase artists who haven’t hit their tipping point yet but influence the communities they come from and Dave met that criteria. After emerging on the Vancouver circuit earlier in 2015 we’ve seen and heard Dave grow into a seasoned producer and vocalist on his path to releasing his debut album which is set to release anytime now. Make sure to scrape a couple dollars and see the young MC perform at WinnieCooper&Friends on January 29th at Fortune Sound Club along with other local cats.
Even a year after See U In LA’s release it seems Vancouver’s Seth Kay has kept the EP refreshing and relevant with his latest visuals fir W S U P. We saw Seth perform at the last WinnieCooper&Friends and when the track dropped the atmosphere of the room changed entirely.
Seth writes “December 8, 2014 we lost a beautiful person. November 22, 2014 we shot this video in Los Angeles, California. We had so much fun that night that I totally forgot we had cameras around filming us. It wasn't a music video, just friends enjoying the city (with a lot of Jameson and Hennessy). We came home to Vancouver on 10, already talking about when we would take our next trip back. A couple of weeks later we got the news along with the rest of the world. We couldn't believe it... We were just with you. I couldn't fathom what our girls in LA were going through. I didn't know what to say to them. What could I possibly say that would help? So I didn't say anything. Maybe a month or two later I got the first edit for the video. I didn't like it. It wasn't necessarily wrong, but it didn't feel right. Given the situation, I knew that if we ever released this footage it had to be right. Tasteful. It had to capture exactly how that night felt to us, just friends enjoying the city. We sat on the footage for a while... I had given up on it. Not long ago I reconnected with a long time friend. We talked about the video and he said he would love to create something with what we had. Thank you Ray. I feel like we finally made something worth showing the world. Worth honoring that beautiful person. The timing was too perfect. This video is dedicated to your memory. Haselstar Always Loving Always Loved Stephanie Moseley 1984-2014″
