Its WILD to me that a show like the Orville is as good as it is. It feels like the deck was stacked against it from the start- it premiered on fox, its written by seth mcfarlane for christ sake.
But season three really really hits. The story line with topa actually left me tearing up. The exploration of gender and consent and love is honestly on par with the best of star trek. It made me realize how much i needed stories like this, realistic stories about the struggles of trans children, and how even with those roadblocks there are adults who will protect them.
