Also “eventually… you just move on" as a wildcard for anyone you want!
Mella is sound asleep in Aiyan’s bed in the corner of the room. Winter is starting to come to Kirkwall, the cold breezes from the south blowing in across the Narrow Sea.
Sethi stands in the face of one, just outside Aiyan’s doorway, her remaining arm tucked up to hide the other, letting the wind blow her hair back, her eyes closed. Aiyan and Nansa share a look before Nansa ducks out the door, taking Sethi’s narrow shoulders in his hands and softly steering her back inside. “At least get a coat on,” he murmurs.
But she simply goes to her daughter’s side, sitting on the bed and brushing away the fine hair Mella inherited from her. “Thank you for letting us stay here for a while,” she says quietly. “I think...I think it’s almost time for Mella and me to go back to Skyhold. Deal with what’s left of the Inquisition.”
Aiyan sinks down on the cot next to his best friend. “Sethi, if you need to stay longer...”
“It’s fine,” Sethi insists. “I’ve dealt with it being...like this...once before. I can do it again.”
“Last time, he was just missing,” Nansa says. “This time...”
“I know.” Sethi’s voice is a little more forceful now. “I still have a duty.”
“Seth...lethallan.” Aiyan tucks her hair behind her ear like she did for Mella. “Promise me--promise us--that you won’t let this weigh you down too long. All three of us know that you need to let go sometime, that, eventually...you just move on.”
“I know,” Sethi says, eyes still on Mella. “Let me...let me be sad a little longer?”
“A little longer.” Aiyan puts his arm around Sethi’s shoulders as Nansa kisses her forehead. “Go back and be who they need you to be when you’re ready, but first stay here and be sad a little longer.”
