hey I appreciate you trying to defend your friend I really do but i'd like to let you know I never fucking ONCE sent an anon to your firend. not once. I asked what my friends did that doesn't mean I sent an anon. but yeah expose me for smth I didn't do that's cool
1. I appreciate you sending an ask to talk to me about this, really. The next few things I say will probably make you doubt that but I do appreciate coming directly to me.
2. UM. In the second screencap I have, it’s you saying “she made post complaining about us.” I know that that was the morning after the 15th, and the posts Heather made was complaining about the sexually explicit Seth/Kate anons. So I assume us would include YOU in that, as one of the people sending anons. As one of the people she was complaining about.
If that’s not true, if you really didn’t send any anon messages....well you clearly considered yourself party to that whole event in some way then. It seemed like you were definitely part of it and you know what? You may not have sent anons but you encouraged and supported the people who did. You didn’t tell them to stop. Maybe you’re not brave enough to tell your friends to stop doing something shitty, I can understand that, but at the very least, you could have not engaged at all. But you chose to engage because you thought Heather’s frustration and discomfort with those messages was funny.
you may not not think those anon messages were a big deal. Like I agree, it’s a stupid message, it sounded like filth a twelve year old would spout out once they realized what dirty words are. But your friends literally had to use sideblogs or make new blogs to even send them. She’d blocked them and turned anon off because she didn’t want to be harassed. She didn’t (and honestly I don’t either) want to be forced to engage with a ship she doesn’t like and finds triggering. I don’t either honestly. So do most of my friends. And your friends and you seem to have found it super amusing to literally shove it in her face.
(I don’t actually think you were part of the suicide baiting anon messages--though I think it’s shady that your friend was laughing about them?)
I’m not really feeling too charitable towards you right now. You’ve been mocking and making fun of Heather for months now on your twitter. Generally, fine, say what you want, I’m pretty happy to ignore you, we both are. But it’s hard not to notice constant mocking and screencapping of our posts, and when that translates into actual harassment. Several of your friends consider sending anon messages to Heather and seeing how she reacts as entertainment. Do you know how it feels like when you desperately try to avoid a certain part of fandom that’s been attacking you for a year now? And when you really just want to blacklist things and block people who you KNOW are shit talking you on twitter constantly? And the haters still find a way to go around you blocking them and shove a ship you don’t like with bad associations in your face where you can’t avoid it? It feels really shitty and unsafe.
